I made this thing

1481753773-20161214180815-1.jpg

It can cruise at 50m/s, run for a long time on solar pannels and have some slightly modded fuel cells that run on IntakeAir to recharge the batteries.

It can survive small jumps but if it flips, it's over.

Two driver seats and one probe core in case the guys want to stay in the pod!

@SpannerMonkey(smce) - Roll cage survived :D

I'll just leave this here .......

Could you film all stages so I can use the links for the challenge ?

You truly are a serious competitor, be careful with stage 2 and 3 though ^_^

but I'm sure I wouldn't have time to make 4 different runs.

Why not ?

You will have a full week to send in stage times for each vehicle.

Give it a teamname and compete them all.

Lol, I like it.

I will put it in the "truck" category.

If I film them all before the race starts then everyone will know my route and my time ... You can use any videos I post but I will not be uploading any complete runs for any stage until that stage has become active

I get lots of air in Stage 2 but have found a good route ... landing the jumps proves to be a bit difficult at times though :sealed:

Didn't think of that...<_< you are right.

But I would love youtube movies that can show the terrains of each stages.

Maybe flying ?

@DrunkenKerbalnaut if speed isn't your main concern, take a look at the M1 wheels. They have more suspension travel than the TR2-L's, an enormous advantage on rough terrain. And yes, they top out at 34m/s vs 58 for the TR2L's.

Yeah I usually run them on the front of lighter rovers (up to 3 tons)  for their suspension travel, but the latest update seems to have made the black wheels even tougher on landings and abrupt plane changes. No evidence as such, just a seat-of-the-pants observation. So they do bottom out, but that doesn't seem to be as much a cause for catastrophic failure like in 1.1.3, etc.

Re that stage and it's route map , i really don't think that's the best way , fairly convinced  that a path with less serious elevation changes can be found slightly more south, I'm in the process of proving it with a time/survival trial

Are you talking about the part uphill, that just kinda rolls?

From what I understand you can take any route you want between flags .... On that note, here's a quick aerial overview of the landscape (disregard the stupid flying)

Yeah ... I like driving at night so looking at the map (even with my laptop next to me) would be too much of a distraction.

Well I have good news and bad news.

Good: I finished stage 1 with the AS-1A. Also, I am going to make my own car because of reasons below.

Bad: HOLY MOTHER OF GOD THAT THING HAS NO POWER ON THE HILLS!!!!! I was trapped in a tiny bowl and I had to go horizontal to climb out of it. And then I crashed at the end meaning that I've lost 38 minutes of my life that I'm never getting back...

ARGH! Another wheel failure! I mean I know that this is a challenging track, but we HAVE to find a way to keep that from happening!

Stages 2 & 3 look like absolute HELL. I am not looking forwards to that...

That was not a design failure, that was driver error

Both 2 & 3 are insane (2 more so) ... watch out for sudden changes in topography as that is the hardest part to deal with
