Rescue Missions - Seriously?
Clockwork13 replied to Tokay Gris's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I haven't done these kinds of missions, but I could imagine the best way to do them is by using a reusable kind of shuttle or mobile station to go out to the Kerbals and bring them home. Just decline the mission though if the amount you will get payed is less than what you need to pay to do the mission. -
You can watch tutorials, but in my opinion the best way to learn to orbit is to figure out how to do it yourself, to me that is also the most fun way of learning how to do things. Start by building a rocket that can go straight up without tipping over. Wings are a big help. Once you can do that, you can build a rocket that goes to about 100k altitude (70k minimum), then just burn in the direction you want to orbit.

I finally think I found out what was causing me to lose interest in KSP, so hopefully I too will be able to start working on cool projects.

This was the funniest thing I've read all week. http://www.express.co.uk/news/science/635327/Mars-gorillas-UFO-sightings-daily-mouse-Red-Planet-primates-space

Ok, to start off, out of every planet in the solar system that is capable of being terraformed, Mars is literally one of the worst options. Not only is its atmosphere almost nonexistent, but it is lacking a magnetic field, has poisonous soil, and will never be able to sustain life, period. Why people think there could be life on Mars is beyond me, since the atmosphere is most likely too thin and Mars is lacking a lot of what is needed for life. It has water, but isn't very accessible either. So, to make my case clear, I'm going to walk you through every other body in the solar system that is capable of being terraformed. Venus This planet is about the same size as Earth, and although it has toxic clouds and extreme pressure, some people think living above these clouds may be possible and feasible. The clouds supposedly give the planet a kind of magnetosphere as well. So if we could terraform the top of Venus's atmosphere, then we could make it havitable for humans. Ganymede This idea is a little bit more ambitious than the other ones here. Ganymede is definitely big enough to support an atmosphere, but if we were to try terraforming it, we'd mostly be starting from scratch. Ganymede has a magnetic field, but is also buried in Jupiter's magnetic field, so solar winds are no problem. It has water, and if we could somehow get all of it onto the surface of the planet, then the moon would have an ocean. All we'd need are some certain kinds of bacteria and some other stuff (all easy to get) to give the planet a breathable atmosphere and life. Titan In my opinion, Titan is by far the best candidate to terraform. It already has a pretty earthlike atmosphere and oceans, except with methane instead of water. Titan has no magnetic field, although it is probably within Saturn's magnetic field.

Lol, I had to do that a while ago. My game kept crashing and eventually I got frustrated and deleted all of my mods then decided to play completely stock, except for some specific exceptions such as HyperEdit

I was working on docking two ships when KSP randomly crashed, and now it crashes every time I try to open it. output_log: http://chopapp.com/#574y3kx9

Climate Change and its affect on Kerbals.
Clockwork13 replied to Clockwork13's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Bad news guys. The flooding got so severe that they had to relocate the entire KSC to space! -
Sea level rise due to climate change on Kerbin has caused this.

** I'm not sure if this is the right place to post something like this, but it seemed right for me. Sorry if it's the wrong subforum ** I just wanted to make this thread to give some ideas about how to make KSP more enjoyable over a longer period of time, and why I lost interest in it. First of all, the reason I have pretty much entirely lost interest in KSP is because missions are pretty much all the same. You launch, go to your destination which is usually a place you've been to a million times, you go to it, you do whatever you went there to do, and then in most cases it's over. It's fun for the first few times, but you are only really doing the same thing over again with sometimes slight changes depending on where you are going or what you are doing. You are given a little bit more freedom in sandbox mode, but in career mode, the first few hours are basically launching rockets around Kerbin and watching them fall to the ground again for contracts or for science. Mods don't really help, since most only add new parts, and planet packs are fine but I never end up actually ever going to the planets cause I'm still stuck at the beginning of career mode because I'm too burnt out to go any further. Some ideas to improve career mode would be to add some factors which are always changing that would affect a mission. I know there's a mod for this, but random failures would be nice to see in the stock game, and another idea would be solar activity. Solar activity would harm a ship in different ways depending on the strength. An A-Class solar flare, for example, may burn out the solar panels on a ship, an X class solar flare would cause the ship to stop functioning at all. Another way to make the game more fun is to make planets more dynamic. Some ideas for this would include winds on Kerbin that can tip over delicately balanced ships, dust storms on Duna that could be strong enough to blow away a small ship, or geysers on Europa that would be relatively harmless unless ones appears close to you. All they would do is damage unshielded electronics at close range and other than that not to any harm. Another way to improve KSP (I know there's a mod for this too but it would be really nice to see in stock KSP) would be a way to build ships in space, cause it would be really nice to just get passed the atmosphere entirely. Lastly, mods are good, but they are usually more buggy and don't fit in as well as when something is made by squad, since most mods are only made by 1 or 2 people. Anyway, these are just some of my ideas to make KSP more enjoyable over a longer period of time. Please reply with what you think about what I talked about here.

this crashing is driving me INSANE
Clockwork13 replied to Clockwork13's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I'll post the output_log once i get onto the computer. As for 1.0.4 compatibility, i have TAC life support which seems to be updated for 1.0.2, but works fine otherwise. I also have a 1.0.2 KSPAPIEXTENSIONS, not sure where to delete it though since it was bundled with another mod -
this is driving me insane. im trying to build a ship, yet i crash every 5 minutes in the VAB and i have no idea why. i don't know where to paste the output_log to because it exceeds the thread's limit and pastebin's limit and is like 1.7 million characters. for now, these are the following mods i have, maybe i have 2 incompatible mods or something i also have a slightly outdated KSPAPIEXTENSIONS secretly bundled with another mod i have, but i don't know which one or if it's why im crashing so badly.

Clockwork13 replied to KillAshley's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Waaaay too much crashing. Tried launching KSP 3 times with this mod and it only launched without crashing once, where it soon crashed while trying to make a new save. 0/10 would not download again -

What's the easiest way to cheat docking?
Clockwork13 replied to Clockwork13's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I didn't give up. Like I said, I kind of wanted to avoid cheating because that kind of takes the pride out of a career save. I just got frustrated and was considering cheating due to how my ship's RCS wasn't doing what I intended it to do. I've docked before, but probably the biggest issue is that I was using a heavy ship with only 4 rcs thrusters at the top of it, which is probably why I started spinning. -

I was able to get the ship docked after angrily launching the ship at the station for 30 minutes. For the future though, I will use mechjeb once it's unlocked. -

Every time I try using RCS, i find myself either spinning, going the wrong direction, or both. -
What is your record number of flights in a save?

Tell your story. How did you get to KSP 1.0
Clockwork13 replied to Ival70's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Saw someone make a small KSP video and got interested in it. Later bought the game during 0.23
