  1. First up, the start and the initial 6 missions. A lot of wandering around KSC getting science, along with a couple of Kerbin Altitude flights to low and high levels. Album for my Caveman LCD Career Start and Missions 1 to 3: Science and 1st Kerbin Altitude flight Jebediah goes for a long walk and a swim. Album for my Caveman LCD Career Missions 4 to 6: More Science and 2nd Kerbin Altitude flight Rollin', rollin', rollin', keep that science rollin'....
  2. So I finally started a Caveman career. As I've had a lot of experience with tedious long campaigns from Better Than Starting Manned, I decided to go right to Nanocrystaline Diamond. The next tier, Diamond, has twice as much Science and I think will play very differently from NCD. Sure, it'll take a while. I've got a lot to learn about recent stock KSP and I won't mind it taking a while. Had a false start on February 7, followed by a better start on February 8. Been learning a lot about how KSP works when you can't upgrade your facilities and all the rewards are 10% of standard. Been putting what I've learned about stock KSP science into upgrading my KSP Science Checklists. Get 'em from here. Took the last week or so to get all my image albums of missions done so far in reasonable shape to show off. Take a gander below.
  3. I'm not seeing anything from those Google User Content pages. Just a round circle with a minus sign.
  4. I took another look at it and realise it's even less than that. I'd say the easiest would be to orbit Kerbin and land and plant a flag on Minmus, which will give 17.625 XP and good enough for 3-star rating. Certainly the order isn't quite right, especially for the Engineer. As for the KSC buildings, more content would be good. Also more than 3 levels--and yes, I know that can be done by the Custom Barn Kit mod, but it should be stock. And of course, #BringBackTheBarn
  5. Well, Pilots are bottled SAS. Until probe cores get manageable. Engineers are strong. But need to go interplanetary and return to figure out how to fix a broken wheel, which is silly. And Scientists are for resetting Goo and Materials experiments and crewing the near-infinite wells of science the Mobile Processing Labs can be. And the MPL breaks any challenge in the career science system. (Career is another area needing a lot of work.) I've thought for a while that perhaps it should have been two classes, Pilot-Engineers and Engineer-Scientists. And there's a lot more to be gained out of Kerbals by adding mods like KIS and KAS.
  6. One problem with using just the Command Seat is with it alone, I think you only get a single flag to place. The Kerbal doesn't get another until back in a pod and EVA again.
  7. You awaken as from a fog. You realise standing over the great precipice on Floor 5055 created a transcendental state of euphoria and made you fantasize there was an elevator, despite never seeing an elevator in all the previous 5054 floors--no, that's not right, you also imagined an elevator several times before, at least on Floors 5047½ and 5028. Shaking your head, you see you're on Floor 5058. You strain to remember what really happened since Floor 5055 and its large...whoa. You awaken as from a fog. You realise that great precipice on Floor 5055 is so great even just trying to recall it created a transcendental state of euphoria and...whoa. This time you caught yourself. Better not think of Floor 5055 and its gre...whoa. Right then. On Floor 5058. What happen on...right, Floors 5056 and 5057. Hmmm. 5056. In a white room. With black curtains. Near the computer. "Surviving Mars" game. Disappearing tiles...whoa. Okay, Floor 5057. Spaghetti...? Lightning...? Good, bad, ...ugly? Okay, on Floor 5058. Look around. Black panel. Black lens with a red spot. Familiar.... "Call me Ismael." Shaking your head again, you decide to put all this behind you and head up the stairs to Floor 5059.
  8. Hey, at least you got the name right. I saw "The Blue Bird" but what I thought of is The Blue Light.
  9. Thank you. I think your mom is working to hold things together during the day. At night, where she feels comfortable with only you and your sister present, she allows the strong feelings to show. This is to be expected. This should evolve as grieving proceeds. Beyond what's seen, strong and variable emotions as well as seeing that in your loved ones is exhausting, which you may already be experiencing personally. Most people do have a reserve they fall back on, especially when the moment demands it, like during the day. Part of grieving is going back and forth between the intense feelings and not feeling as much, maybe even less than normal. Between being tired and feeling stronger.
  10. I've barely used the TR-2L wheels used on your current Bugger. Mostly I've used the M1 wheels that you had on the P2P rover. Do the M1's have more play in their suspension? The TR-2L's are potentially faster, though.
  11. That's tragic. About 9 years, I had a very good friend, guy I'd known for decades. If I'd been asked then who of us would pass first, I would have said me. I'm overweight and he was more active than I was. He was out scambling in the foothills here with a few other friends when he had a heart attack. They did all they could and he was flown by helicopter to hospital but he died. Later found out he had an almost completely blocked coronary artery. I still miss him.
  12. Been out of likes the whole day. But.... Whoa. Pole to pole, 2 rovers (I think) and no Kerbals lost. Around the world, at first glance only twice as far, but how many rovers in whole and in part; and it's almost vacated the Astronaut Complex. Who's the next victim driver ?
  13. Wait, he used to be funny?!? That's harder to believe in than little green rocketry-obsessed aliens.
  14. For a moment, I wondered about you calling it Ochre and painting it a brown-sand colour. And then.... Well, barrels on a boat made me think of this.
  15. You and your mom will feel down quite a bit over the next while. That's to be expected. Glad we could help you a bit in ths difficult time.
  16. Probably. You're going to be disturbing the great deeps of Kerbin. Where no Kerbal has ventured. Who knows what beasties of the Old Gods are down there?
  17. Cool! You need to add a ladder to the cockpit on them thar Juice Geese.
  18. Happens all too often. What do we get, 20 per day? And it gets dished out every 6 hours or so, 5 at at time? Maybe.... I think that bridge crossing wore him out.
  19. ...and under it bury your treasure, 'cause 'X' marks the spot, me hearties!
  20. B9 is currently under development. Spaceplane Plus got integrated into stock, with other spaceplane parts available in many other mods. FASA is still available, especially its launch clamps and towers and RCS parts, and if it doesn't get directly renewed, there are many other mods with similar parts. @Romfarer hasn't been on the forums in over 2 years. His LazorSystem, latest version for KPS 0.90, was only released under a licence that doesn't allow derivative works; so no updating for later KSP. To develop on it in any way would need his explicit permission. The forum topic still exists but the Curse download no longer works.
  21. Exactly! But cooler still would be taking out a negative buoyancy rover with water jets that goes along the bottom of the ocean until it comes up on shore near the highest mountain. Then it jettisons its underwater gear (or you drive it a few kilometres, same result) and goes for the summit.
  22. It can take time. Your mom has a lot of feelings to work through. The emotions will come and go for a while. Likely for you too.
  23. Why I suggest going from deepest to highest is: 1. The deepest is closer to KSC. 2. You're likely to be able to get to the deepest location and back out again, as I think the sea bed will not be steeply sloped, but at the highest, you may have terrain that will block you. And getting down might be risky.
  24. Several mods have them (FASA RCS, Mandatory RCS, etc.). But I want them stock. It's such a little thing to improve KSP significantly. While doing a redesign of the existing RCS blocks would be appropriate.
