  1. This is exactly what the community hated about the original KXP idea. I'm not fully against it, but I think that opinion belongs to me and one other guy...maybe two. - - - Updated - - - In my opinion, KAS and KER should be made stock and tied to the engineer level. Maybe KER could also be tied to the other classes. Also part degradation without the random failures of Dang It! Engineers could use spare parts to bring the engines, etc. back up to full speed. Nothing ever fully breaks, just requires maintenance.
  2. I made one of these completely stock. ...but I lost the pictures. I am a failure.
  3. I average around 40 mods with few problems. Are you using a lot of part packs? You can't blame the developer for a modified version of the game crashing due to memory usage. What you can blame Squad for is not implementing key features that you feel are essential, yet are not planned for stock. (That we know of.) Having to resort to mods for certain basic functionality can get irritating. edit Quick aside, speaking of 64 bit, why does the launcher default to 64 bit? Anyone else getting that?
  4. In conclusion, "ScrubLord" didn't manage their resources properly so decided hacks were better.
  5. I create an installation in steps, checking ram usage after each. Stock > ATM > essential mods > visuals > additional part packs, if they'll fit. Right now I'm hovering around 3Gb for my ram usage, with around 40 mods. My only mass part pack is KW Rocketry.
  6. Still working on a cargo SSTO. Still not up to my standards.
  7. If they're worried about stranded Kerbals, just give us infinite liquid fuel too. Why even worry about any of your resources! Make all batteries have built in RTGs! Re-entry heat effects without actual heat. Infinite EVA fuel. Essentially infinite life support by it's exclusion. Thank science for mods. They're keeping this game alive.
  8. This tree actually eliminates confusion. Even though you can't see the whole tree in game, you can intuitively assume that a similar part will follow another. You can not do that with the current tree.
  9. This is similar to what I had envisioned for contracts as well. KSP, at it's core, should be about player choice. So, here were my thoughts. First, when starting a career, you would be asked whether you would like a guided tutorial. Everyone on the forums can skip this next part. The current contract system is tailor made for a linear, guided tutorial, teaching new players the basics of the game, perhaps up until interplanetary travel. The contracts would be step by step at first, branching out with different options as you approached your first fatefully flight out of Kerbin's SOI. Completing this tutorial would basically throw you into end game content, which would open up the proposal system, much as described in the original post. You would use drop down menus to submit a proposal. Orbits, landings, science gathering, etc. Based on your rep, the proposal would be accepted or declined. As you prove yourself, your rep would increase, more difficult proposals would be accepted, bringing you higher rewards. I think we're on the same track with this. Though, it seems such a far cry from what Squad are doing at the moment.
  10. You would think that having so much science would eliminate grind, as you would have so many options in how to earn said science. I haven't played career in a while, so I don't have much actual input on balance changes that could be made.
  11. I'm not to concerned about the ugliness of the thing. It will be better than Squad's attempt, and that's what I'm excited about.
  12. It sort of sounds like an infomercial. In anycase, I'm fine with the tree expanding upward.
  13. Implement it's intended purpose. EVA fuel should not be infinite. Saying finite EVA fuel isn't fun is like saying finite Oxidizer isn't fun. Of course, it sucks when you run out of either, but that doesn't mean they should be infinite. The fun in KSP comes from the challenge. Sometimes I think me and Squad disagree on that.
  14. ...or, instead of doing all that, they could add a retire button. edit: Seems, it's already in. Still, the lengths some of the community will go to to defend Squad not implementing something into the game.
  15. This sounds good to me. KER, VOID, MechJeb. Some form of information display should be stock.
  16. I'd like to see that. In the mean time, more mods for me.
  17. Changed my sig accordingly. You guys have done a great job with this and I'll spread the word anyway I can.
  18. Nice job reworking the original post, Kipard. Linking it in my signature.
  19. I think Eve is prettier, but Duna is easier to get along with.
  20. In 0.24 and 0.25, I replaced most of the stock tanks and engines with KW Rocketry to save ram. Anything that was redundant got replaced.
