The Landing Legs & Gears Is Killing Me!
klgraham1013 replied to I_Killed_Jeb's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It was in the patch notes, but it's bitten EJ a few times this patch as well. Disclaimer, I've only dabbled in 1.4 because of these continuing issues. My time is mainly in 1.3. -
The Landing Legs & Gears Is Killing Me!
klgraham1013 replied to I_Killed_Jeb's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I believe it's mainly due to craft loading on uneven terrain. When loading, legs are fully extended. If those legs are "beneath" the surface, the craft is pushed above the surface. Depending on the severity, this can launch craft into the air. World Stabilizer is a decent work around by loading craft slightly above the surface and gently lowering them. There are other problems with wheels and legs, but this is the one that affects me the most. Anyone who watches EJ_SA has seen this many times. -

Congratulations. You've solved the puzzle. -
So far, Squad has not mentioned any further DLC. It is somewhat likely, but not officially confirmed.

A much better explanation than typically given. -
The Landing Legs & Gears Is Killing Me!

...or they could write their own code. ...but #BlameUnity has worked as an excuse so far. -
"This is what I really like about supporting mods though. If we couldn't spare the manpower to add it, there was a good chance someone in the modder community was already working on it. I often thought of us in the dev team as developers supporting a mod platform, more than making a game itself." ---------- Interesting. ------------ "I don't think there's anything about making a rocket sim in Unity that is more troubling than it would be in other engines... No game engine that I know of supports 64-bit spacial resolution out of the box, so the problems we had to solve really weren't unique to Unity." -------- For anytime someone says KSP needs a different engine and that would solve all it's problems.

They didn't buy the company (Squad). They bought KSP.

Time for KSP 2.0
klgraham1013 replied to Dicapitano's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Just to limit confusion, Take Two bought KSP, not Squad. Squad is currently contracted to continue development on KSP. Anything else is under NDA. -
Time for KSP 2.0
klgraham1013 replied to Dicapitano's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Please no. So much could be done better, from career mode to the UI. Hopefully, with Take Two involved, these things will get sorted out for KSP2. -
Logical tech tree
klgraham1013 replied to MajorTomtom's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
If we're going to go with history, than cars and planes should come before rockets. Obviously, the tree needs to be some combination of historical and gameplay considerations. I personally think rover wheels should be early in the tree to accommodate the massive science rewards around the KSC in career. Whether that mass of science around the KSC is good for gameplay is another question. Also, there's an expectation players have from a tech tree. I believe having all the wheels so deep in goes against an average players expectation. -
Craft Switching
klgraham1013 replied to quitessa's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yeah. That's actually what I was thinking of. Watching him cycle through craft is painful. -

Craft Switching

Easy Vessel Switch should have been stock a long time ago. Who actually enjoys cycling through a ten craft base on Duna? -
Mk3 Expansion - [KSP 1.12x] Version 1.6 [10/5/21]
klgraham1013 replied to SuicidalInsanity's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I'd be interested in seeing if Bug #18017 (video) happens with your ramps. This would be the final test I would need to determine which part is at fault. I'm leaning toward the Squad Mk3 ramp. It will be nice to have a replacement if Squad doesn't fix it in 1.5.X.- 862 replies

Logical tech tree
klgraham1013 replied to MajorTomtom's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'll reqoute myself. The point is to make the game better; to accept criticism and improve. If someone made some good reasoned point in support of the tech tree, I'd listen. Change my mind. Explain to me why having the ladders in the early game would make the experience worse. I'll quote some examples I made from another thread. Maybe I'm missing something. Explain to me how these things are good design. -

I do recall the early tutorials being not so great. -
Logical tech tree

I know. That's what disappoints me. I was just pointing it out to those who say "You can't please everyone. So just do nothing!" -
Logical tech tree
klgraham1013 replied to MajorTomtom's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Every creative should know that you should never try to please everyone. Pay me for a week. I'll do it. Heck, I'm already 75% through my cost rebalance. I only put it on hold to see how 1.4 turned out. Now I'm waiting for 1.5 to see if a certain bug get's fixed. I've long given up on Squad actually doing anything to fix career mode. -

Muddy ground textures are not cartoonish, they're muddy ground textures. I wouldn't mind if KSP embraced it's cartoonish visuals as long as they did it of a high and consistent quality. New players shouldn't be expected to use mods to have a good experience.
