I don't understand why the spaguetti rockets are not fixed
klgraham1013 replied to Luc1fer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Real rockets aren't made of several small tanks stacked on top of each other with struts running up the outside to hold them together. Though, I haven't had problems with spaghetti rockets in a long time, calling it a feature makes about as much sense as calling radar altitude only being visible in IVA a feature. Sure, it adds another "challenge" to gameplay, but does that challenge actually add anything? Again, I haven't had much of a probably with this in many updates, but my rockets tend to be pretty straight forward. @Gargamel That came over harsher than intended. I do that sometimes. -
I'd love to get stuff that let's us really dig into the spaceflight and engineering, but here we are, years later, still relying on mods for alarm clocks and dV readouts.
-
They'll make new bugs for free as well. It's pretty great.

Yes, but both are important. Perception is reality after all. Consider The 1.0 trailer vs Build Fly Dream. Though Build Fly Dream certainly has explosions, it is not the main through line of the trailer. Build Fly Dream ends in accomplishment; the reward of struggling only to succeed in such a grand fashion. So, what does the KSP1.0 Launch trailer say? Isn't the imminent death of two Kerbals funny!? LOL! There's a difference between not taking things to seriously, and completely leaning into the "lolsokerbal explosions are funny" mindset. As far as denying features that should be there, this isn't a pie chart. Both things are being done anyway. One's not taking from the other.

Kerbal Space Program 1.4.3 and Making History 1.2 is live!
klgraham1013 replied to UomoCapra's topic in 2018
Why does Squad still require Kerbals to be moved to command seats in this clunky way when the Take Command mod has been a thing for almost 3 years now? -
The Star Wars loot crates weren't there to pay employees.

I don't know, but they seem to be everywhere.

...and having such a clause in a contract isn't exactly what I'd call honest business. It's purely one sided and lacks a certain degree of ethics.
-
I'm sad that we let companies get away with this sort of thing, but here we are. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to pretending everything is fine.
-
I still pay to own games. Game companies thinking otherwise is their problem.

@Fwiffo No harm done. Prepare for a long read.

If it wasn't, it is now. -
Can we please pin the discussion we had about this a month ago?

Colliders are a bit bugged with this update?

Well. Time to wait for 1.4.4. -
This. #lolsokerbal has been embraced far to much in development. Remember how over hyped exploding buildings was? Even the naming of Dessert Airfield reflects this to some extent. If I may quote the great Bac9: "I'm convinced the obsession with disasters and perception of Kerbals as worthless engineers only caring about explosions is destructive for the game. KSP deserves much more than being a glorified disaster simulator where rockets falling apart and crews being killed is the prime entertainment and the only expected result. The achievements of players who strive to be successful, who create beautiful, well-engineered, reliable designs, should never be devalued, and the opinion that going to space is impossibly hard deserves to be crushed and disproved over and over again. Kerbals are capable engineers and it's up to the player to utilize their technology well." You can read the whole article here. I'd even suggest @SQUAD read it as well. Just as a reminder.

KSP Quality Declining Rapidly

Even before that. I was expecting more care to be taken once they hit the big 1.0 and left early access, but here we are. -
New Stock Suits model?

Squad's first problem was choosing the wrong color for the new EVA suit. #BrownIsBest -
KSP Quality Declining Rapidly
klgraham1013 replied to DocMoriarty's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I've been around for quite a while and this is, unfortunately, status quo. Despite any version numbering or a lack of an early access label, releases are still handled the same way they were 5 years ago. It really doesn't feel like updates are treated any differently, or with any more care. Thankfully, some of us old timers have learned our lesson and keep backups of older versions. Personally, I was still on a modded 1.0.4 until 1.3.1. Now I'm staying on that for the foreseeable future. -
As much as I think EULA's are draconian and overreaching, they aren't going to change. They'll probably actually keep getting worse. This is the way of the world. Money over people. All we can do is hope they never use the powers we have granted them. In the mean time, go pick yourself up a copy of 1984 by Orson Welles. Pretty good book. FYI, Squad hasn't and won't say anything about the EULA.

Kerbal Space Program 1.4.3 and Making History 1.2 is live!

Not gonna lie. I'd be sort of horrified if I ever met you two in real life. -

Hurrah. Another name I can constantly roll my eyes at along with FAT-455 and Big-S. I know. I'm anti-fun. Are those Kerbals 1 to 1 scale cardboard cut outs? ...and how can I get one? See. I'm not completely anti-fun. -
5m fairing size broken? (Patch 1.4.2)

Stop lying. You've been outed, future man. Now give us the Almanac! -
i'm going to say something crazy here, but...it's okay to finish games. Millions of people do it every year. Hundreds of games are finished. It's quite an astonishing thing actually. KSP is this weird thing that is sometimes seen as more lifestyle than game. Understand that, to the contrary, it is just a game, and it is, in fact, okay to be finished with it.
