I said before that with all of your parts we can make a really close replica of this Hermes.
-
I agree wholeheartedly! However it looks gorgeous!! And that kind bothers me because the book was all about realism. So I wish I hated it more. But it looks so beautiful I can't imagine not liking it. Also Benjee you did and amazing job with endurance start working on the Hermes lol.
-
That could be the way they cobbled together the trailer. That is too interesting a plot point to just tell them he's alive. However the trailer does have me very excited. Besides the plot changes the one thing we can all agree about is the infrastructure looks gorgeous. I think they will be pretty true to the book. All I care about is Lewis calling Rich Purnell a steely eyed missle man.

Whats the status of the solar arrays? I need to build this.

I agree 100% in the book the whole ship rotated. It was mentioned in the book a few times. I guess they learned from Interstellar, although its realistic, it can be nauseating for the audience. However the more I look at the picture the more I think that whole thing might not be the ship. I said before it looks like the harvested the ISS. They might have just done that but instead just made it a refueling station for the Hermes. I mean that ship just looks too large! Am I wrong? Its beautiful don't get me wrong. But it still looks too big. The more I look at it, it looks like it just might be docked with the refueling station. Could you imagine the maneuvering scenes at the end of the book with that thing? It would probably look cool but unlikely. Anyone else think that the Hermes is just docked? Although I see engines all the way at the end? But I also see something docking with the ship in the background. What do you all think? - - - Updated - - - Again I think that its just docked to a refueling station.

Nathan Fillion would be a great choice! I think Matt Damon is the safe choice. I think he will do a great job, but I don't think their will be anything particularly special about it. They missed an opportunity to pick people who are out of the box. I think it would have been a great opportunity to take Robert Downey Jr. off the avengers train for a little while. That not out of the box I know. They could have done good with an unknown or a new up and comer. A comedic actor who is good at drama might have been a good choice. Karl Urban is the every man type guy. Like I said I don't think Matt Damon is gonna be bad as Watney. I just don't think he is gonna bring anything special to the part.

hahaha me too! it actually looks like a very accurate version can be made with a few mods. It looks a a really good version could be made mostly with the Near Future mods. The actual craft looks like its a combo of the ISS and Constellation programs. ALMOST like in this future they harvested the ISS for parts to build the hermes and then added alot of infrastructure.
-
Our first look at the Hermes. A screen shot from the the trailer. Lets get to it modders! Start making it!
-
No I agree. However watch the trailer based in the infrastructure it really doesn't look too old. Futuristic yes but it doesn't look like something we can't build within the next say 20 years. That's what I loved about the book. There was never a moment where anything was so farfetched that it couldn't be done. The only unbelievable is NASA has the money to go to Mars lol. Everything he uses to survive isn't far beyond what's on the ISS. There is a ticking clock because of his limited resources. So I pictured Watney having been a little kid when iron man and the avengers came out and he was referring to something from his childhood.

We have the first trailer!! It's awesome!!! Enjoy!! http://youtu.be/x7-ARy_rpZ8

Sorry friend there are very few options. Someone on this thread who has fixed the Soyuz for themselves can send you their fixed files. You can fix the cfg files for yourself, which i am sure someone on here would be willing to post how to fix it. Or wait for the op to update these packs. Which is not very likely because he kinda made a vow never to return to these forums. Although we are all keeping our fingers crossed lol .

Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread
sp1989 replied to Mike-NZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Alright I need to put my 37 cents in on this. I am for who will ever do the best job. Honestly from the short time Mike has been working on these forums his work has been leaps and bounds better than Dragons. Mike has also spoiled us with he expedience combined with the enormous progress made in a little more than three weeks! Dragon has not put out anything or updated anything in months! Is there any guarantee jovzin that when your model is completed that we will get a release from dragon anytime soon? This loyalty to dragon confuses the hell out of me. We made a mistake 5 months ago with raidernick. He began working on updating the CSS and everyone all but pushed him off the project because he couldn't stand people asking questions about Dragon. Now we have another incredible modder working on this project and again we are referring back to dragon. Until he shows his face or releases a substantive update sometime this year we need to work with the people who are currently doing an amazing job. Mike and Jovzin lets just take a step back and agree that you guys had a miscommunication and lack of communication. From here on out you need to work together both of you have done an amazing job and together you can create an amazing orbiter. Mike with your ability to incorporate features and jovzin with your modeling ability I see no reason why you can't work together. Please please work together, there should be no animosity it just looks like miscommunication and missed messages. -
Artwhaleys mod came with an atlas rocket it's actually not bad. It's a good model and a great simple launcher.

Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread
sp1989 replied to Mike-NZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Yea the nose drifts up when I fire the OMS. When I say rough I just mean it doesn't react the way I think it should. It takes a long time even with the RCS to flip the ship around. Then it just seems when setting up a maneuver it take a long time to precisely line up the node. It's just not smooth in space. I'm not saying it should be easy to maneuver in space but right now I can't imagine docking with it. -
Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread
sp1989 replied to Mike-NZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
During take off the stack constantly wants to roll over. The ship flys sideways during take off so much so I went into a semi polar orbit. During reentry it just want to go nose down. No matter what I do the nose wont come up. Then once Im in the atmosphere It flys like a brick but also floats like a feather. It bleeds speed really quickly and just really doesn't want to glide at all. I know that sounds interesting especially when I say that when I go to flare it just shoots back up. It doesn't flare it just picks up and keeps going. It just needs to fly more like a plane I guess. I am very much aware that its not supposed to but it needs some more gliding capability. In space it just doesn't move like I feel it should. Its very sluggish and then you overshoot the target markers. Its not a smooth slow its like its very rough maneuvering in space. Maybe stronger SAS? The OMS tend to drift up and off the mark and I am constantly readjusting. The RCS should be stronger along with maybe a stonger reaction wheel. A balance between the two would be good. It just seems wobbly in space. I feel like I am constantly adjusting to keep it flying straight in space. I hope this all helps. -

Indeed. No I don't think anyone is rushing you. Please take your time and work at a your own pace. You are going to run into quite a few excited people who have a lot of polarizing opinions. So enter this journey carefully and with an open mind. You are working project right now people have been looking forward to wanting for quite some time. Good luck and take your time. -

Thats amazing!! Especially the DDS part. Post on here from now on just so we arent clogging up this thread with non CSS stuff. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/124258-ISS-and-DREAMCHASER-1-0-2-release-thread -

Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread
sp1989 replied to Mike-NZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Ok so I am not part of this but I have seen too many thread fall apart out of frustration and confusion. So everyone right now for the sake of efficiency say exactly what they are going to do moving forward. If you want to help someone pm them about what you can help with. Obviously Mike you are going to be doing the lion share of the work and maintenance however it seems there are quite a few people on here willing to help. Mike you mentioned that you are working on the ISS. Maybe make a new thread for it so we aren't clogging up this thread with ISS stuff. This way people with fixes, opinions, bugs and questions dont get lost in soyuz, mir and iss stuff. Also on that thread discussion bout fixes and such can be discussed to help your work move along faster and more efficiently. So call out what you are willing to help with and then wait for responses. Once thats done act accordingly. annnddd...... break! -
Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread
sp1989 replied to Mike-NZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Understandable. However that's a fix that not everyone is capable or willing to do to get something working. A proper overhaul and fix is required to get the Soyuz working again.
