Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread
sp1989 replied to Mike-NZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I would say just shrink it down don't make them thinner. Not too much, just enough so the nose cones line up like in the picture I posted. -
I can't even explain how happy this makes me!

Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread

I'm sorry but I have to ask and possibly take advantage of you while your energy and excitement is this high. You are doing great work on the Shuttle. It will wonderful when everything is said and done. However what's the point of having a shuttle without payloads? So........the ISS community pack has atrophied and although it is mainly a parts pack, it just doesn't work right. It throws a whole bunch of null references, the docking ports seem to not be working properly and the solar arrays cause games to crash. I was wondering, since you are working on the shuttle maybe when you are 100% done with it you could take a look at the ISS pack. I'm sure it's a lot of work but seemingly is just some cfg work because the parts are just parts. Then if Dragon fixes the Soyuz and balances it. Real world infrastructure can finally be working in game again. Just a thought.... -
Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread

This is looking amazing!! The SRBs need to be slightly smaller. Only because one you put on nosecones then they would seem too tall. An inaccurate way of measuring is the tip of the nosecones should be right before the dome begins on the ET. Like this.... All in all I am extremely impressed and excited! -

I thought the original SRBs had the enormous, ugly, and in accurate NASA logo at the top. Why would he switch out the original boosters?! Those look great! -

That would be incredible if you could do that. I look forward to seeing what you can do. -
This is the Most Kerbal Real World Idea I Have Ever Seen
sp1989 replied to sp1989's topic in The Lounge
I have no problem with the design. The kerbal thing and what I was getting at is the ambition as you mentioned and what the station looks like at the end. Tell me that doesn't look like a KSP screenshot? -

Honestly your work on this, thus far has progressed more in two days than the other CSS thread has in almost half a year. I am excited about your hard work and energy and it is honestly where the best work on this forum gets done-when the modders are fresh and excited. Just don't burn yourself out. That being said I would talk to the original people and see if you can officially (only if you want to) take this over because your work is stellar. I think they had a new orbiter model ready, and new models for the ET and SRBs in the works, but Dragon was supposedly gonna take a few months to do work on them. If you can do it sooner and better by all means I vote that you take a go at it. -
Full cast and crew announced for The Martian! I must ay that I am pleasantly surprised! I actually think they did a really good job. However my one complaint would be that I pictured Allison Janney as the head of NASA public relations. I think that would have been perfect casting. However Kristen Wiig is probably did an incredible job, so its actually not a complaint. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3659388/

I stumbled upon this video on youtube. I suppose if you watch enough space AND KSP videos the recommendation will start to merge. What do you guys think of this idea? Is it cool? Is it smart? Is it too Kerbal? Discuss.

Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread
sp1989 replied to Mike-NZ's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I suppose my complaint with them is one of size, shape, and funtcion. Fist and foremost if the SRB sep wasn't a coin flip my opinion of them would be strictly aesthetic. So lets forgo decoupler issues seperatron issues. I don't think they are large enough, look at the side by side you posted. You can see how much taller they actually are. The nose coint are pointy but not pencil point. Still they come to a point not rounded as the current ones are. The nozzles are a bit wrong. Also I need to be clear, this doesn't dimmish my experience to much. I am very happy to have a STS in game and it is also pretty close to the real thing. However these are tweaks that I personally would like to see, and I think it would be good for everyone. Seriously look at the link that I posted for the Spice Launch System. Thats what the SRBs are supposed to look like. Warning once you see them you cant unsee and no other SRB will look right. -

Yup those should be included or atleast download links should be on the front page. However those plugins are readily available on the forums. For now just download them from the old CSS thread or do a google search for them. -
Space Shuttle Pack for ksp 1.0.4 dev thread

Wonderful job guys getting this up and running again. However my complaints about it still stand from that past. They are all nit picky and they are mostly aesthetic complaints. First of all the Orbiter itself is a wonderful model. No complaints there. However my issues are with the external tank and the SRBs. The external tank my only complaint is the red ring at the top. I just don't like that its a total nit pick! I am not trying to sound like some people on these forums who complain about paint shades and precise measurements of fairings and engine assemblies. Im just saying I don't really like the redish/pink ring around the top. Second I have never really liked any of the iterations of the SRBs in this pack they just seem wrong. They always separated wrong and they just never quite look right. You have to reach out to this mod maker. He has done some great work and has made the best looking SRBs in my opinion ever. Atleast they are the closest looking. They are very high detail so maybe he could make you new ones or maybe you can just scale down these. Idk but it seriously something to consider. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/112771-Spice-Launch-System-SLS Maybe I am the only one who doesn't like the current SRBs idk. Finally you have to get the skin switcher back. That was hands down one of the coolest parts of this pack. All in all very well done. The ship flys well during takeoff is painful flying brick coming back but that pretty much like the real thing. Docking is tough but I imagine the can be worked out with practice. -
Vens part revamp has a 1.25 cargo bay
-
There is a mod for that http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/109672-Techtree-WIP-Road-to-Kosmos-%28v0-0-3-preview%29
-
Nope! It's actually a squad problem. It happens with the stock clamps too. However I will say it does happen much more often with the stock clamps. Still it happens with the stock clamps.
-
Yup yup yup I will say it again. You sir are a steely eyed missile man!
-
Well...yup that definitely the fairing ls falling off. However it looks like the whol station is falling into the decoupler as well. Idk what that means and I am gonna ask obvious question but sometimes that works? Are you useing the proper module manager? Do you have any module manger installed? Are you useing the craft file? What other mods are you using?
-
No no no that really in poor taste. I'm not bein sensitive it's just.....no too far.
-
You guys are steely eyed missle men Edit: Did a quick launch and return and its still so much fun. I haven't used played with KSO in a while especially the whole pack. No sign of a game crash at all or drop in fps. Well done guys for bringing this mod to 1.0. One tiny nitpick is that you guys should/need to add the trench smoke effects. Its one of those quality of life things that I never know how awesome it was until I saw it, now I need to see it or it just doesn't look right. I also flew the kerbostar and if you put it into hover mode the prop overheats, explodes, and my kerbals die. Thats all for now I will keep playing and report back if notice anything else.
-
Thats what I mean. You said that there really isn't any other way. Why is that? Wouldn't a texture conversion make sense for everyone, and no one would have to jumps through loops to get it to work flawlessly? I know that the solution is easy I 100% get that. But it doesn't address the problem. I am going to shut up now because I hate spamming threads, its not nice.

As I said I wasn't trying to sound contemptuous or angry. I am simple person who just wants to play KSP. I am knowledgable enough to put mods in the game and thats it. I am not doubting there are ways complicated or simple to make everything work. I was simply trying to say that there are quite a few players on here who are unwilling and incapable of trying the methods that you described. I have seen it far too often on these forums, a person says "hey my game is crashing" or "this doesn't work for me", or "this mod is just too big for my memory needs", then someone undoubtedly will say, "it works just fine for me I don't know why its not working for you." So your solution might seem simple however to some people it might seem daunting and unhelpful because its a solution that might seem unrealistic. Yes I know that sounds lazy, and "if you don't want to try and get it to work by using a simple......" yea I get it. Im sorry if I sound or am sounding like a indignant child. I swear its not my intention. Please dont read it as such. - - - Updated - - - I asked that they CONSIDER a conversion to DDS textures to make the this mod memory friendly for all. The makers have said numerous times that ATM is a requirement. If a texture compression mod is required, why not just compress the textures and save people alot of space and memory? Again I am fully aware that they dont have to listen to me. I feel I have emphasized this plenty of times. I know they don't have to do it. I am simply suggesting it and I think it could benefit everyone.
