Actually the fasa launch clamps are waht make the launch pad explode. If you switch out the stock clamps the pad wont explode.
-
Also there is no IVA at all on the soyuz even with rpm installed Edit: solved forgot the bobcatind folder
-
Speaking of craft files could you include a Buran craft file? It isn't hard to make but it still Would be nice to have it done right.
-
Damn! Well then please post the issues to the community. I mean you have taken it as far as it can go. You said you are willing to do the config stuff. I know there are people who are good with unity and people who are good with modeling who would be willing to help. This is something screaming for community support.
-
There is nothing about the Buran you can integrate into CSS? The way the rcs works, the aerodynamics, the airlock etc.?Why does the Buran work without the plugins?
-
There are craft files included. They are already built. I believe they are in the folder called saves. Just copy the .craft files into your VAB and its done.
-
I am very aware of the aesthetic differences. My question is about the differences in flight, part count, memory usage, and plugin reliability. If Dragon coukd integrate what makes the Buran fly so well and user friendly to the CSS then this is a hit. Because like you said the IVA and overall appearance is much better.
-
Ok so what is the difference between Bobcats Buran and this. I just installed the Buran and it flys wonderfully with a minimal memory footprint. I have quite a few mods installed and it works without even he slightest glitch. I built it, launched it, docked it with MIR, and landed it. I mean its a little shaky flying in the atmosphere but it does glide a hell of a lot better than the CSS? Also it only requires 2 plugins and one is optional. What can you take from the Buran and apply it to CSS? Because thats the way it should fly and should be that easy to put together. I love the option of changing the color of the wings etc. But come on you get this to fly like Bobcats Buran boom this is a huge Mod. I mean even the Airlock Docking port works on the Buran! I easily docked with MIR. Alot of frustration trying to dock the CSS. Buran docked almost as easy as a capsule? Why does the Buran work better than the CSS?

Space Transport System[NASA] VS Buran [Soviet]
sp1989 replied to piggysanTH's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think it needs to be made clear that this thread is operating under the notion The Buran actually made it out of the prototype phase. Costs can not be caluclated when determining which system was better because maintenance fees, refurbishing, fuel costs, crew costs, payload costs, etc cannot be compared. The projected costs of the Buran of course are going to be lower than STS because the Buran never went beyond a flying prototype. Once again The Buran never had a lifespan and the STS had a long and extremely successful tenure despite launch costs and flaws. So again if this discussion is to proceed it needs to function under the paradigm that they both had the same service length. Excluding that regardless of potential STS is clearly the winner. Why? Because it was actually used. -

So if i do the research you would consider it? -

sp1989 replied to raidernick's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Is it something you could take a shot at down the road? I mean you made the Skylab booster, the ASTP seems like it could be a great fit for this pack. -

sp1989 replied to raidernick's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
How hard it would it be to make an ASTP? I think that would fit perfectly in this pack. Is that on the drawing board somewhere? -
Could you make the progress a little more destructible? I mean it survived reentry and crash pretty much intact.

A Proper Space Shuttle Mod?
sp1989 replied to sp1989's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I get that, and I am sure it will be cool and all. But I am looking for a high fidelity STS mod. -
I understand but have you put it the community? Maybe someone with the necessary skills could retool the whole thing useing the groundwork you have laid. You certainly could help a proper modder along. I don't know about what your skill sets are in terms of modding but maybe get a community effort to rejuvenate this mod. Get a modeler to make the thing, you can do all the coding (I assume thats your forte) and use some of the groundwork already done within CSS to help you along. I mean thats of course if you are willing to take up the project. I mean from a time management thing would it be easier to keep trying to figure out ways to maintain this or just develop a new one entirely with some of the modders in the community?

Is there anyone working on or considering work on a proper Space Shuttle Mod? I find it strange that The Space Shuttle is extremely underrepresented in the KSP community. Yes I am fully aware of the Tiberion Shuttles and KSO. Both are a lot of fun and I have used them extensively over my tenure playing KSP. However a proper Space Shuttle Mod does not really exist anymore. I am fully aware of the Component Space Shuttle mod. I have also used it quite a bit and that has what inspired me to write this post. It was such an exquisite mod but it is growing older and older with each update along with its dependences. Many of its dependences have even become outdated. Modders and users have taken up maintaing it but it just seems that it is destined to die like its real life counterpart. I mean there are so many extremely popular mods out there that represent real life rockets and ships, Soyuz, Skylab, Saturn V, Gemini, Mercury, Proton, Dragon, etc. I mean there are mods that exist for all of the real life probes and rovers, but something perfectly suited for KSP is not represented. I mean the Space Shuttle is a rocket and a plane, so much can be done with a proper space shuttle mod. I mean we also have countless mods for Space Station building wouldn't a shuttle be a great addition to space station construction? I am not a modder, I wish I was. If i possessed the skills I would have made a space shuttle mod a long time ago. I even downloaded blender thinking I could give it a go. I opened up the software cried and decided I would leave the modding to the people who are good at it. Anyway I am just looking for a good realistic Shuttle Mod. Anyone willing to give it a go? What are your plans for the future of this thing? It is a shame to see such a wonderful model go but unless a truly skilled modder (no offense to you Dragon) comes and fixes this thing unfortunately its going to be dead like the real shuttle. Saddling it with plugins isn't helping, it just makes it less appealing. I mean are there any other Shuttle Mods out there like this one? I mean KSO doesn't count and the Tiberion Shuttles really (at least in my opinion) aren't that good in terms of realism. I mean it really surprises me that no one has taken up making a high fidelity space shuttle. Its arguably one of the most important piece of space hardware ever and no one has really given it a real go in quite some time. I say this all not as a modder simply as a consumer who wants something better. I really wish I possessed the skills to make it myself but I really wish someone would give the Space Shuttle the respect it deserves. I also don't intend to disrespect you Dragon I know you have put in alot of working trying to get this to work but for people like myself who dont have the time to jerry rig things to work properly and just want to have fun in KSP this isn't really good enough. I hate to diminish your efforts and I and a lot of people are grateful for them but this mod needs a huge overhaul to be really appealing to the masses and work reliably.

Is this working for .25?

[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
sp1989 replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Man I wish i had a computer that could handle this. It is a fantastic thing to behold. -
I totally understand I was just curious, to be honest I already you know about your aversion to using "required" plugins. I was curious as to if you were going to make your own plugin which would have been above and beyond epic. But I know that might be a little too much especially since its purpose would have only been for one rocket. Anyway like I said its really nice and I look forward to it. Good Luck.

Love it!! I know you aren't about 100% accuracy but isn't one of the key points of the Vostok capsule that the astronaut ejected out and parachuted down sans capsule? There are plugins that make this possible. Would you consider that?

I agree what about the IVA for CM? Denny I totally understand why you might not want to come back, but there ALOT of people who are looking for high fidelity historical replicas. Look all over the forums, a large amount of people reference you as the standard of quality, when it comes to replicas and modeling.
