[0.21+] Kosmos Spacecraft Design Bureau: Updated (9/27/13)
sp1989 replied to Normak's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Im actually in desperate need of a good Stations Mod that is complete. Thats why I was so excited you are updating this for .25. I mean with the new career mode parts for station and even base building are an awesome asset to have. With the Fine Print mod that creates missions to build a space stations around specific planets, again mods like KOSMOS are very welcome. That combined with Ship Manifest, TAC, and KAS you could actually build a pretty active space agency. -

Escape Systems for Unmanned Spacecraft
sp1989 replied to rodion_herrera's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Thats a ship that is designed to return. The cygnus burns up in the atmosphere like the progress. So the discussion is to put a LES on a ship that that in no way shape or form is designed to be reused. Now it is a shame the rocket exploded and the cargo was lost. But everything can be replaced. Rockets explode, the whole idea of rocketry is controlling an explosion to propel you where you want to go. The only thing we can hope for is that explosions and accidents don't happen in manned flights and prepare for accidents if they do occur. In this case the rocket from top to bottom was expendable. Every part of it was expendable. So yes its unfortunate that the cargo wasn't delivered but the end result is ultimately the same. With the exception of the launch pad being damaged, which is probably far worse of a problem then the rocket being destroyed. -
[1.8.x - 1.12.x] Salyut Stations (Salyut/Almaz) - 8-26-21

I have to agree Bobcats Mir is a wonderful Mod. It has almost no dependencies, it has a low memory footprint and most importantly it looks amazing. Bobcats mods have not exactly held with all the new updates but his Soyuz and Mir still look amazing and great to play with. His R7 however has not really held up. I actually have used your R7 raidernick to launch bobcats Soyuz and it works and looks awesome. The Kosmos TKS are amazing and with the exception of the color being incorrect are very accurate. However I think their could be aplace for your models if you decide to make them. Your models are (atleast I consider them) high fidelity and accurate. So if people are going for a realistic and historical play through versions of MIR and TKS would be welcome. That being said as long as Bobcats Mir can survive each update you don't get much better then that model. -
That would be AMAZING but FASA is not quite complete enough to delete all of the Stock parts. It would be amazing if you could do that but, you would need to add more science parts, some more solar panels, batteries, maybe some more diverse parachutes. So I wouldn't recommend deleting all the stock parts, but yes in theory like you said it could be done. I just think you could get away with deleting most of the folders in the stock parts folder not all. If you could make some FASA stock equivalents in the utilities and science section then sign me up for total replacement. Also I mentioned this earlier but am I the only one who thinks the Saturn V has become overpowered in the .25 update? Also its borderline impossible to get the Saturn-1 into orbit. Either under powered, inefficient engines, or not enough fuel. Again this could just be me.

Man thats pretty. Is noonespecial still working on his SLS? Because the stuff he showed on that thread was amazing. I know you guys were working together on some stuff but has he stopped with that?
-
It doesn't snap to the attach point just get it as close as possible and it works perfect.
-
yea its never worked for me. Put a Soyuz or Mir male or female port on top. Thats what I usually do.
-
Of course you can! I will give it a test.

Only because you told me to remind you. I know I said it before, what about TAC support?

Scientists have ideas of what black holes like. There have been renderings of black holes look like, but they have always been kinda sci fi looking or just a black hole in the middle of the picture. The point of the article is that using what I assume is a computer that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions of dollars they have created an image of black hole that should be, if not exactly resemble what a black hole looks like. What everyone thinks of when they hear black hole What a really expensive computer and a team of graphic artists can do with Hollywood funding

I there are alot of mistakes made in gravity, but as a science nerd I appreciated the hell out the detail in all of the space infrastructure. Now when we start talking about how the ISS and Hubble are not anywhere near each other and are actually in different orbits. Yes Gravity is not exactly accurate. That since there was no on on the ISS we have to assume that the crew escaped and both Soyuz wouldn't be docked with the station? However I mean all things being equal, the was she got back to earth is very reasonable and realistic.

Im sure someone will correct me if i am wrong. But I think what is so cool about it, is that because of the equations and the rendering computer, the black hole in Interstellar is the most realistic rendering of a Black Hole ever seen. We don't know what a Black Hole actually looks like, but now because of hollywood we do. I think the overarching point is that it took the funding for a movie to get the a job done and I am sure scientists have been wanting to render what they think a Black Hole looks like for years. The problem is funding, and that our priorities are in making movies about exploring black holes instead of actually exploring black holes.
