KSP Interstellar Extended Continued Development Thread
raxo2222 replied to FreeThinker's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Exception Detector is throwing NRE's with any warp drive while in VAB/SPH: FNPlugin.AlcubierreDrive.FixedUpdate Also reactor lifetime needs to be fixed. If someone is making MFT path for procedural parts, then you have to take SMURFF for account - SMURFF adjusts all tanks/engine mass and fuel ratios to realish values. Edit: I created example one unit ISRU buffer with procedural parts and MFT. It could be as well as integral ISRU part. I could make it contain one unit of ore/liquid fuel/oxidizer/monopropellant, it would be only slightly bigger. Edit: Someone needs to make MFT patches for procedual tank so you can add following resources: Aluminum, Alumina (Al2O3), Helium 3, and stock Ore Also drill should have tiny buffer for ore, thorium, uranium, lithium, aluminum and water - you can find these on surface of moons.planets/asteroids. -

Ah stupid phone There is error with reactor lifetime: All reactors, that have products show lifetime of 0 days and increases, as products are stored. Only Antimatter reactor is unaffected by this, and shows correct lifetime. It seems like lifetime calculator picks products not fuels in its calculations. This bug was here as long as I remember, wonder why no one reported it. -

I think you said same thing 3 times oops, ran out of coffee? (read whole page 227 too:p) Not meant to be rude, but I just noticed it. I said that bit earlier, but in shorter way MFT is but buggy for now - doesn't support cryogenic tanks. @FreeThinker What about making MFT tanks actually having proper mass ratios? If I use procedural fuel tank and fill it with hydrogen, then I get mass ratio of 1:2 or so. -

I meant internal resource tank in ISRU, just like reactors. Or upcoming particle accelerator or something else you plan to create. It could carry 1 or 10 units of every gas/liquid, that ISRU can process. This way I could use air scoops/liquid pumps (drills could have liquid mode on certian upgrade) without external tanks. Also ISRU should be able to produce liquid fuel/oxidizer/monopropellant -

Yep fixed = not foldable. -
So its tweak scale issue then.

What radiators are lightest per 1 GW of power emitted? Edit: It would be nice to have fixed version on umbrella radiators for mothership. -
Hmm so these could be outdated by now - bug shows, when parts are downscaled.

looks like it should be reported to @bac9 Some structural HX parts when downscaled and with removed fuel tanks have negative mass.- 4,460 replies

I meant integrated resource tanks just like in most of reactors. -

Hmmm so 3.75m isru can be scrapped. Can we have resalable 2.5m ISRU? Bigger ISRU would perform reactions faster, and you could run 2 or more reactions simultaneously in single ISRU. Also tiny resource tanks being part of ISRU (just like in QSR) would be very useful. They could hold 10 different resources just like in that screenshot: We could also have tanks for solids: aluminum, lithium, uranium and thorium for drills. -

And after this we could put to sleep both KSPI ISRU by stripping them from all modules and hiding them from public view. In description it could be written: This legacy part has been scrapped, please use stock ISRU. UNRELATED: there is mothership with procedural modular fuel tanks (set up is for hydrazine) (they are kinda broken - cooling doesn't work These tanks have all liquids and gases, that you can find in atmosphere. You can extract oxygen/hydrogen if atmosphere has water/methane/CO/CO2. -

Not only lithium/aluminum Everything in ISRU Refinery Window should be in stock ISRU, and everything in ISRU Refinery 3.75m should be accessible by stock/uks drills (water, ammonia, lithium, alumina, uranium and thorium). There is too much hassle to add RSS definitions of land resources for long abandoned ORS. As for ocean... maybe we could add pump or make drills/atmospheric scoops pump oceans at certain tech. -

There is SSTO VASMIR and Thermal Ramjet is 1.875m and thermal turbojet is 2.5m, Main AM reactor is 2.5m And mothership. antimatter engine and molten salt is 0.625 m, vacuum plasma is 2.5 m, antimatter container - 5m, radiators - 25m or something. -

I'm using VASMIR only in upper atmosphere/space, so no harm done In my SSTO I activate VASMIR, when it reaches 60 - 70 km on Earth, so pressure is very tiny, on that altitude deployable radiator deploys itself, as dynamic pressure falls below 1 kpa. I want to create ship, that can do grand tour in RSS and doesn't slow down much, when SSTO docks to it. BTW it would nice to have thrust during time warp, because 4 m/s is pretty slow It uses quantum vacuum engines to thrust. -
I have cross mod bug report too: (moved post from B9 thread) Apparently with latest tweak scale and module manager some downscaled HX parts have negative mass. Probably Modular Fuel Tanks messes up them, as removing fuel tanks from parts lower its mass below 0 when downscaled to 2.5m or lower. This happens to HX2-A-HX1-B and HX1-A-SD structural modules. - parts from B9 HX mod. Here is mod list:

Well B9 HX itself is fine, it may be actually fault of MFT inconsistency. In my latest SSTO (weights around 200 tons with fuel) version (downscaled to 2.5m) I use thermal turbojet in lower atmosphere and ramjet in upper atmosphere. I switch to VASMIR (and turn off ramjet/turbojet and AM reactors powering them) only after deployable radiator deploys. It also has ARCJET attached to bottom for powered descent. I guess I could turn off thermal turbojet bit sooner Also this is going to reduce part count in bigass QSR mother ship (it has 0.625m AM lighter, and emergency 0.625m molten salt reactor running on 5% serving as life spark), It has 5m warp drive, ISRU setup for Hydrazine and 4 as big as possible air scoops. -

Now I cant reproduce it without b9 parts (it has useful parts for motherships). It seems like it may be modular fuel tanks (I put hydrazine in parts that can contain fuel) fault, not this mod. I have KSPI 1.8.24, IFS 2.0.7 and tweak scale 2.2.12. I have to do more testing. Edit: there is CKAN mod list Edit: This is not Interstellar bug. This is B9 HX/Tweak Scale bug/modular fuel tanks interaction bug. Removing HX structural part from ship fixed bug. -

Negative mass issue with charged/thermal generator and antimatter reactor is back - I use latest IFS/Interstellar/TweakScale.
