KSP Interstellar Extended Continued Development Thread
raxo2222 replied to FreeThinker's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Looks like resource tank clean up suggestion has to be here after all: I think there needs to be 6 classes of IFS tanks: Ore - all non-radioactive stuff, that you extract from ground. Salt/Heavy water counts here too. Fission materials - these radioactive materials and their products/ores containing them Solid fuels/propellants - normally solid substances, that aren't ore Liquid fuels/propellants - liquid substances, can contain most of liquefied gasses Pressurized gas fuels/propellants - noble gasses fall in here Heavy duty cryogenic tanks (for these substances with very low boiling points, for example <50 kelvin) - because Helium 3 is special snowflake. You could allow all H/He isotopes to be here. So in the end I want to see 6 procedural IFS tanks (you can set their dimensions as you want, but resources are limited to their class), Antimatter is even more special snowflake - it must have is own part. Also Hydrates should be converted into H2O and CH4 but it can contain CO2 And ore is stock resource, that is converted to liquidfuel/oxidizer/monoproperlant. I'll write here names shown by Advanced Resource Panel - its same names as in configs. General Purpose Liquid Resource Tank (best mass ratio - 1:8 - 1:10, no special requirements for them) can contain: LiquidFuel, Oxidizer, MonoPropellant, LqdHydrogen, LqdHelium, LqdNitrogen, LqdOxygen, LqdCO2, LqdCO, Water, HTP, LqdMethane, LqdAmmonia, Hydrazine. It also can contain combinations of fuel/oxidizer: LiquidFuel/Oxidizer, Lqd(Hydrogen/Methane)/Oxygen. It could contain SaltWater/HeavyWater, but these resources doesn't seem to be used as fusion fuel/propellant, but on other hand doesn't fit in ore tank. Pressurized Gas Tank (Low mass ratio, like 1:3 - 1:5, as resources are in gaseous state): NeonGas, ArgonGas, KryptonGas, XenonGas, SolarWind SolarWind is collection of resources, just like SaltWater or Ore - you get multiple resources from processing them. Ore Tank (Low mass ratio like 1:1 - 1:4, but being denser than GPLRT or PGT in same total volume): Ore, Hydrates, Alumina, Borate, Silicates You have to process them for further use. Solid Resource Tank (Low mass ratio of 1:1 - 1:4, and high tank density, as solids needs to be powdered): Lithium, Lithium6, Aluminium, Boron These can be used as fusion fuel or propellant. Radioactive Resource Tank (Lowest mass ratio of 1:1 - 1:3, and densest of all tanks, as its need to be shielded): Monazite, Uraninite, EnrichedUranium, UraniumNitride, UF4, ThF4, DepletedFuel, Actinides Tread carefully with these. Heavy Duty Cryonics Tank (moderate mass ratio of 1:4 - 1:8, can contain He3, and have reduced loss rate when unpowered) LqdHydrogen, LqdDeuterium, LqdTritium, LqdHelium, LqdHe3, Hexaborane They also can have resource combinations set for fusion modes - tailored for D-T, D-He3, H-B11, D-Li6 , H-Li7 and H-Li6 fusion modes. Ratios shouldn't change across engines and reactors. Antimatter Tank - because it is too volatile and needs magnetic trap. Energy usage should go into MW territory, when holding 1 kg of antimatter. ========================================================================================= These fuels tanks are inconsistent! - some have certain resources settings and others doesn't. There are 3 different inline AND radial cryostats, while one of each kind would suffice. There are 3 different nuclear radial tanks - one could be changed into solid container, other into radioactive solid container and another into ore container - this way we could have solid radial tanks. Inline solid/radioactive solid resource tank could be based on stock ore tank. Also there is random water tank and liquid fuel tank. Liquid fuel tank should be hidden from view and water tank could be used as universal storage tank for all resources in given class - it could hold all normal resources, or gaseous resources, or H/He isotopes, or normal solids, or ores, or radioactive resources. I wasn't sure where to suggest tank clean up. Now lets do sanity check for standard tanks: These tanks should able to hold 14 different types of resources and 3 fuel/oxidizer combinations. LiquidFuel, Oxidizer, MonoPropellant, LqdHydrogen, LqdHelium, LqdNitrogen, LqdOxygen, LqdCO2, LqdCO, Water, HTP, LqdMethane, LqdAmmonia, Hydrazine. It also can contain combinations of fuel/oxidizer: LiquidFuel/Oxidizer, Lqd(Hydrogen/Methane)/Oxygen. Since all these tanks have X-Number in their names except adapter, I'll refer them by X. X2: 13 resources. ( LqdHydrogen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water ) X8: 10 resources, 2 fuel/oxidizer settings. ( LqdHydrogen ; Lqd(Hydrogen/Methane)/Oxygen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water; HTP ) X16: 10 resources, 2 fuel/oxidizer settings. ( LqdHydrogen ; Lqd(Hydrogen/Methane)/Oxygen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water; HTP ) X24: 9 resources, 2 fuel/oxidizer settings. ( LqdHydrogen ; Lqd(Hydrogen/Methane)/Oxygen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water ; huh?) X48: 10 resources, 2 fuel/oxidizer settings. ( LqdHydrogen ; Lqd(Hydrogen/Methane)/Oxygen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water; LiquidFuel) Nose Tank: 10 resources. ( LqdHydrogen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water; HTP ) Adapter: 10 resources, 2 fuel/oxidizer settings. ( LqdHydrogen ; Lqd(Hydrogen/Methane)/Oxygen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water; HTP ) X48 Wrapper: 13 resources. ( LqdHydrogen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water; HTP) X96 Wrapper: 13 resources. ( LqdHydrogen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water ; HTP ) Radial Sphere: 10 resources. ( LqdHydrogen ; LqdOxygen ; LqdMethane ; LqdAmmonia ; Hydrazine ; LqdNitrogen; LqdCO2 ; LqdCO ; Water; HTP ) So only 9 resources are consistent in fuel tanks. X48 has LiquidFuel instead of HTP, and X24 doesn't even have HTP setting. 3 fuel tanks have more settings: X2: Lithium ; LqdDeuterium ; Hexaborane X48 Wrapper: Lithium ; LqdDeuterium ; Hexaborane X96 Wrapper: Lithium ; LqdDeuterium ; Hexaborane To recap: Missing resources: Oxidizer, MonoPropellant, LiquidFuel/Oxidizer setting, LqdHelium Inconsistent resources: LiquidFuel (only in X48 inline), HTP (missing in X24 inline) Lithium6/7 can be moved to solid tank, and hexaborane/deuterium/tritium can be moved to heavy duty cryonics. -

So how to override creation of liquid fuel/oxidizer/monopropellant from ore without interfering with other mods? -

KSP Interstellar Extended Continued Development Thread
raxo2222 replied to FreeThinker's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Here are MFT configs. THIS IS CRUDE IMPLEMENTATION. Someone with better knowledge of mass ratios/MFT needs to adjust all mass ratios of resources here. I just copied waters config for salt/heavy water and alumina config for all new ores. Consider this as beta and in need of better adjustment. Most of these mass ratios doesn't match with IFS mass ratios. Solar wind have half of hydrogen mass ratio, as this is going to be emergency gas storage. I think there needs to be 6 classes of IFS tanks: Edit: Moved to IFS. -

Are there MFT/ISRU integrated ore tank for these? And what I can find in solarwind? All isotopes of H/He/Lithium? EDIT: Cant get 1.9 version - ckan and curse have outdated version Now there is, website was bit slow. -
Are all inverse rotation thresholds for objects with atmosphere are above of theirs atmosphere limits? Objects with atmosphere are Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Titan, Uranus, Neptune, Triton and Pluto. I updated to 1.1.3 so I cant touch RSS update for now

This is vanilla change, happened in 1.0 or so. Now sun is actually hot - enable thermal debug mode to see energy flow numbers. Only big thermal engine named Thermal Launch Engine supports afterburner modes. Thermal Turbojet/Ramjet seem to be unable to use fuel+oxidizer combination. -

Hmm so there should be liquifier part, or at least have ISRU unit capable to cool down Helium3 into LqdHe3. And why then Hydrogen isotopes/Helium 4/other naturally gaseous substances doesn't have gaseous form, when harvested/fused, and then converted to liquid form and stored? -

Well here we go: I added configs for missing resources below water in man tanks. This stuff is untested. Edit: IDK if mass ratios are right here. -

Well idk what values put here. All I could do is copy values of Helium 4 for Helium 3 and copy values of lithium for other solids. IDK what realistic values would be. Edit: There is liquid helium written in it twice. -

This one works fine with stock ore tank. But it doesn't work with procedual ore tank. I wonder if you could add MFT config for Ore, Aluminum, Alumina, Helium 3, Boron and Hexaborane to all tanks. MFT dev doesn't want to add Ore for MFT config. -

Hexaborane and HE3 should be in procedual tank as MFT patch. Ore tanks (procedural too) should be able to hold solids like ore, boron, lithium alumina, aluminum, uranium (both UN for fission fragment/dusty plasma reactors and UF for gas core/molten salt reactord), thorium, actinides and depleted fuel. There is ISRU reactions map from main page of this thread: Radioactive solids are to the left and aluminum - to the right. -

Now land resources for RSS left.... someone said he would do that earlier. Also solid resource switching doesn't work in any ore tank. -

With Alternative Resource Panel you can hide empty resource bars. Actually there is no isru part on this test craft - I wanted to see how many resources you can actually put here You would see this many resources if you had crazy mothership with everything on it. Normally this list would be 1/3 - 1/2 long of what is on screenshot at max unless you were doing grandtour.
