  1. Yeah. It would be a bit more intuitive, too. I would never have guessed to use shift/control to control the throttle if The tutorial hadn't said so.
  2. 10/10 Who doesn't like trains?
  3. Oh come on. Now I have to do this mission AGAIN. Ah well., I suppose I'd better get to work. *Walks away whistling happily*
  4. Not really much we can say, I think. Try removing DMagic if you haven't, and check in the mod thread for any info. In fact, you might want to post this there.
  5. Psssssst. Jim. I think that that scientist who's giving me my "flexibility therapy" just wants to use us as test subjects for crazy experiments. We should really stop responding to ads on Craigslist like this.
  6. I believe that may be an eventual goal of PlanetShine. However, the mod is extremely inactive right now, so don't expect too much, right now.
  7. Yeah, the thing about stealing mods is kind of dumb. The 64-bit Windows mod hack still works, as far as I know, and they only started to release 64-bit Ksp it because there was such enthusiasm from the community about the hack. They could have released the 64 bit version any time they wanted (it's literally a matter changing one setting in Unity, I think), but, for some people, it would have been riddled with bugs to the point of near-unplayability.
  8. Huh. I never actually thought to do this. I've always just guesstimated my landing site and said "good enough" so long as I wasn't landing on a mountain. I'll try this, in the future.
  9. Ah... the errors of the orbit prediction system. And my Jool-5 WIP album always gives me a chuckle (read the captions).
  10. "Looks wrong, but I trust MechJeb." (I usually end up having to correct half of what MechJeb does to my rockets.)
  11. I'm trying to connect to your server, but every time it gets to "requesting synchronize," it freezes.
  12. Try turning off the temperature gauges with f10 if you already haven't. They have a horrible memory leak associated with them.
  13. Might download and join. Don't expect me to be on very often if I do, though.
  14. Moho. Always Moho. I look up delta-v maps, oh-so-carefully plan my missions, but something always goes wrong (Admittedly through my own stupidity, though. Forgot to add some kind of attitude control to my last lander, for example).
  15. I'm sure someone has. If you're careful, you might not even need heat shields. Lately, though I've found that it's just easier (and safer) to set up a Tylo gravity assist and enter the Jool system that way.
  16. 10/10 All hail the Dragon King!
  17. One CPU can have many cores. http://cpuboss.com/cpu/Intel-Core-i7-4700HQ According to this, your cpu has 4 cores. If you're running windows, you can open task manager and go to the performance tab to see how many cores you have by counting the number of cpu usage graphs (if you only have one graph, go to options-> cpu history-> one graph per cpu). If it registers 8 cores, don't be surprised. Cores can be split (I forget what it's called) so they register as 2 cores, but are actually 1. My computer has a 4-core cpu, but it registers as 8-core with task manager.
  18. Here's a bunch of tests using multithreaded physx 3.3 and comparing it to 2.8.4: http://physxinfo.com/news/11327/multithreaded-performance-scaling-in-physx-sdk/ Test 5 looks most like what will be used on a single vessel in KSP, and it does seem to improve slightly with the number of threads. With 3 threads, it runs almost twice as fast as the 2.8.4 test. Unfortunately, I think that using more than 3 threads causes physx to become unstable. Some of the tests show the 3.3 version being 3-4 times as fast as 2.8.4.
  19. I know that there are several airship mods, but I was wondering if any of them allowed a flying airship to be persistent after leaving physics range. I don't think that the one I've used before, Hooligan Labs, allowed it.
  20. Well, I've noticed a slight drop in physics performance, but the biggest drop seems to come from graphics for me. For whatever reason, in the newer versions of KSP, looking down (on Kerbin or in the VAB) kills my framerate. I can have the horizon in view, with a good chunk of ground with it, but the framerate drops if I let the ground directly below me get in view, and it gets worse if I turn on antialiasing. I think it has something to do with atmosphere shaders, as I haven't noticed it on other planets. It doesn't explain the VAB half of it, but that's my guess. Also, ground scatter on Pol seems to be really laggy, for some reason. If I zoom out to where the ground scatter is just a bunch of dots on the ground the lag fades away, but I wouldn't think that there would be enough stuff being rendered to bog down my (not not very good, admittedly) graphics card. It was never present before, though, so something must have changed.
  21. This morning. Took me five or more tries to get a VERY SIMPLE rocket into space.
  22. I've been thinking about doing a modded-planet career mode. I think that this might be what I'll use. Also, unless you can modify the color of the light from the sun, I'd keep the sun as it is now, or make it a white dwarf. It would be kind of weird to have yellow light coming from a blue star.
