Those are some cool looking mountains, man.

Gas Planet 2 and some action beyond it would be cool. I'm looking at you, Squad.

This depends on whether you've unlocked EVA yet, but you can EVA your Kerbal out of the capsule and float over to the individual experiments, right-click them and take the data from the experiment. Float back to the capsule and put the "data" in there. This is how you can bring 26 thermometer scans home with you, without having to transmit them and lose science. If you're using heatshields and buring them up on returns from the Mun (which isnt very fast), it sounds to me like you're re-entering the atmosphere too steeply. Bring your Pe down to like 35km and slice your way back to Kerbin.

For a second I thought Captain Beefheart came back from the grave to make a website about Pluto.

I decided to experiment with gravity assists. I have no idea if they helped, but it was super fun and felt realistic. Fortune smiled upon me as I was able to fling myself around the Kerbol system pretty well. It was supposed to be a New Horizons inspired mission, but it ended up being more Voyager-like. I took a probe on a gravity assist around Eve. I went as close as I could without getting inside the atmosphere. In front of the planet in its orbit around the Sun is supposed to slow you down, and behind it is supposed to speed you up. I swung in behind Eve and realized it was kicking me out in the direction of Jool. Sweet! Some laborious ion-thrusting and power management got me an encounter with the Jool system where this happened by chance (luck): Its hard to make out what that is depicting, but I came in a little high and behind Vall passing to the left of it, high. In the meantime Laythe moves around between Jool and the probe and off to the right. I miss it's SOI. I then come in close on Jool and wrap behind it which should pick up more speed, get flung out away from the Sun and right at Tylo. Fly super close behind Tylo on my way out of the system and that got me out to a Sun escape trajectory. I did that right, right? It's hard to tell if it is effective or not, whether I am gaining speed when your speed keeps changing on the navball depending on what SOI you're in. Here is a glamour shot mid-encounter with Vall. Unfortunately, Tylo was hiding behind Jool for most of this, so you don't get to see it in the frame.

I wonder why the insistence on playing the game while talking about development? I mean, what's interesting about anyone going to Minmus? Why not just rap about the game's development?

Roving a mini probe to the Mohole and detaching it to fly to and land at the bottom: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=457288885 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=457289090 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=457290062

Its strange, none of my friends have any interest in this. Quite the shame. All they can manage is "Too bad its not even a planet anymore". Lol.

I'm a university-educated musician who never got past Algebra II in mathematics. You don't need to be an engineer or math nerd to dig this game, but it helps to find space interesting and fascinating. I like KSP because it lets my imagination run wild and lets me challenge myself to do things that no one, including myself, would expect.

I've never tried it, but this is probably what you need: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/47863-1-0-2-Precise-Node-1-1-3-Precisely-edit-your-maneuver-nodes

I must say, I do not enjoy trying to come up with reasons to plant so many flags at a given landing site. Do you still get the XP points if you plant the flag, then remove it?

I do too. I'll give this scatterer a try too, y'all. Thanks for the heads up. Edit: put me past the Ram crash limit. Looked awesome though.

I like to tuck a pair of sepratrons under the ascent stage of an Apollo-style lander to ensure a proper liftoff when returning for a rendezvous.

One can onyl hope this ends in the total destruction of reddit. Excited!

Gah! 7m/s!!! Yeah, thats not gonna work. Too bad, those things were sweet for nautical applications. I used them on the ships that I refueled those seaplanes with too. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=346574421

Your techniques for 2-Kerbal Pods
klesh replied to klesh's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Nice! I was using something simmilar pre-offset tool, putting 2 Mk-command pods together at the .625 top, like a butterfly or dumbell, with the science goodies in between safe from the plasma. -
Okay fellas, I'm halfway around. I'll update it once she lands. A pretty unimpressive design, no speed records, nothing fancy. Just bored this morning so I thought I'd try it out quick. Edit: Okay, that was fun. Here is the ship. I didn't particularly math this out at all, I'm not that kind of player. I slapped together something reasonable, figured the bigS wings would gimmie lots of lift up high, and they carry some fuel too. I think I gave each wing 90. I landed with 280 to spare, not enough for another go around. If I filled the wings full, I could probably do 2 or maybe 3? I used a single whiplash. Anyway, here are the relavant pictures. I hope you find them to your satisfaction for qualification.

Ooh, thanks for the reminder. This was my most successful seaplane in older versions. I'll have to recreate it and see if she still works. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=345018415

They're using their own, in-house definition of 1.0, which is different than the rest of the gaming industry. Wish I had my own in-house definition of "the rent is due", my landlord keeps thinking its supposed to be the first of the month, silly guy.

1.0 and Beyond... Where are the clouds?
klesh replied to klesh's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I don't notice much in the way of performance hits with the mod clouds. Some, to be sure. But it is fully playable with it. Didnt the launchpad smoke get added in 10 minutes or something quick and at no loss to fps? Perhaps the same tech can be used for clouds. I just dont recall if they are on the list of things they want to add or not. I mean atmospheres without clouds is just weird. And mods, please dont add [suggestion] to my threads, this isn't a suggestion. Its a question about development.
