Don't listen to the nay sayers Squad. You guys have well and exceeded my expectations as a first mover in this game. Compared to other early access games your progress is literally staggeringly mind blowing on the quality of your game. You haven't put out any paid DLC in ages and you deserve the support. As someone who bought the game pre-april 2013, I'd happily toss a few bucks more your way as I realize that the longevity of all games is dictated by the available revenue to sustain them and I don't want to see Kerbals stop improving or growing any time soon. PS. How about a stable multiplayer platform next? I know it's been shot down before but you'd really get good money if you added that functionality as DLC.

If you used the docking port alignment indicator by navyfish it would make this ten times easier because it tells you your exact orientation to the other port including facing without having to eyeball it or use navball.

Who needs a level runway anyway?
Maelstrom Vortex commented on JPLRepo's article in Developer Articles
I think of Level 1 runway as the training runway that teaches you to land everywhere else on Kerbin. -
SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here
Maelstrom Vortex replied to tsunam1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
My super modular station after its 3rd extension was inserted, all stock: Allows docking of up to 6 major components, 12 Medium, and 12 Small craft. You may notice a couple of crew return vessels are already docked. Color coded ports for docking guidance, blue is for large, green medium, red probe sized. -
I was stuck trying to make orbit til I watched a video on making rendezvous. That was.. many years ago now.

Who needs a level runway anyway?

I object, I use the level 1 runway, very carefully. Lengthening the level 3 would be nice. Sometimes drogue chutes and regular chutes, even reverse firing engines just aren't enough. (Especially when you have an airliner for a space plane.) And yes, it still works on the current aerodynamics config. -
Who needs a level runway anyway?

There's no official runway, but you can emulate this just by landing on one of the mountain sides. I've done it via both vertical and horizontal vessels, it is NOT easy. Also, I had no problems landing before or after the edits. Don't see what the problem is. Then again, I could land on just about anything. I landed on a near vertical cliff once, I really should have took a photo of that. Only way I kept from sliding away was by keeping breaks on and then retracting the landing gear. -
Remids me of my megalith I made for the lift challenge a long time ago. A jumbo jet that can ssto and re-enter.

You know that's a kind of important change that really should be in the patch notes *grumbles irritably at the lost tech* Well, least now I know what I must do and I can return the rover-lab to base.

I just transfered a bunch of data from the field on a jet to an MPL at the space center with plenty of relays and perfect kerb net. GOt the experiments, when I hit the yellow beaker to send it to the lab, it did not store the data and also eliminated the experiment. THe experiment was also not repeatable on the originating craft so it looks like it just ate the science outright.

What Is Your Biggest Accomplishment in KSP thus far?
Maelstrom Vortex replied to TheOfficialStorm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I built an interstellar highway with refueling stations around every planet and moon of the exact same station design and with the ability to refuel every fuel type. Took a while. Station was moved by 4 NTR's at the base and 8 side mounted ion engines. Here's 3 of them linked up at a junction core in orbit being refueled to be relocated: You'll notice there is an escape pod in the one oriented in a true north position in case something threatens the kerbals on the station. -
Would start with basic suits and advance to more and more advanced suits perhaps with integrated guidance systems and HUDs for Kerbals working in orbit. For example, may start game with a basic eva suit that has no thrusters, no stabilization and advance to an end game suit with all suit features including advance features like ability to interface with space center orbital trajectory calculators to assist with rendezvous with distant vessels.

I played for around 6 hours last night and lost all progress when I closed down amid a mission. The mission itself was only about 15-20 minutes long. I'd completed several others over the course of that time. When I re-entered the game I discovered that the persistent save hadn't updated since 6 hours prior despite many times leaving and re-entering the the space center which I thought was supposed to prompt an update of the persistent save. Have persistent saves changed or is this an error or failure to save?

Behold.. Megalifth Mk2. 50 Ton station deployment vessel. Not only is it a space plane that can make orbit, it is a space plane that can make orbit with a 50 ton payload. All stock as of v 1.02

Added to imgur follio as images 6,7,8,9,10. Sadly the payload is just a little drone which is detatchable. The primary payload is two copies of every scientific instrument, a global mineral scanner, a metal drill, an ore container, an ore refinery, a pair of fuel cells, a fairing covering a linear docking port and an asteroid grabber. It also has a tourist section.. this thing.. has a massive, non-separable pay load, lol. I'll take all the extra junk off and try to do a dead lift of nothing but fuel later tonight or this weekend in the cargo bay.. buhahaha. Image 4 and image 1 on the imgur list. I think my boeing sized SSTO has proven space plane sstos are not dead by any stretch of the imagination, lol.

- - - Updated - - - I finally pulled it off. MASSIVE SSTO that carries an equally massive payload. Warning, be very gentle. Would someone care to run the numbers for me? Craft FileD Depending on random physics loads, you might have to reload it a few times due to weight. Flight profile instructions: Careful off runway, do not tilt up til you are in air off the runway. Tilt up slowly to 30 degree up ascent to around 8000 feet and begin to level towards horizon with orbit indicator 5-10 degrees off horizon. Accelerate til over 1000 m/s continuing to ascend until the rocket motors kick in on their own, tilt nose up to 45 degree ascent til apoapsis is around 40,000 meters. Level back out. Accelerate until orbit encircles planet and periapsis turns to apoapsis on the other side. You MAY lose your flaps due to heat. This is okay, you will still be fully in control of the craft due to the tail surface controls and it will still be very controllable on re-entry. On re-entry.. open drogue shutes if you want to use them to slow descent. I recommend if you do this you do set up an action group to cut them as I honestly have not needed them yet on re-entry. If you wish to do a glide descent, first burn of speed to a shallow re-entry path and keep your nose pitched up 10 degrees as you enter the atmosphere to bleed speed. Eventually it will return to flying like a normal aircraft. Clearance and absorption granted by the landing gear should make for relatively easy landings.
