  1. Already working on it. Part of it is the streaming and the fact I had constant downloads from the GOES satellite running to my stream and the internet to twitch has been somewhat unstable lately for some unknown reason.
  2. i upgraded the fusion power plant on kerbin to 16 GW output in intersteller extended, hooked up to 3 orbital relays.. and then took out my "pleasure craft" to see just how far the thing would now go on just atmopshere. Can now hit altitudes between duna and Dres at mach 10. Thought I had gone retrograde at one point, but was actually going so fast out of atmosphere that I hadn't actually gone fully around kerbin to be retro-grade oriented.
  3. Thanks, will snag tonight. Red Baron, btw, exceeds Duna orbit on atmospheric only propulsion on the new reactor.
  4. Included is a log file from an event where a power station of many parts suddenly had something resulting in NAN values which almost destroyed my campaign. It looks like electric had a NAN value as well when I tried recovering the craft. Any input or guidance would be greatly appreciated. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xd184kww8ykitew/KSP.log?dl=0 I appear to have found where the cascade originated in the file, but I'm not certain which particular part or event triggered it. I'm trying to isolate that as it could tell me what might be done to fix it.
  5. Possibly. The types of quakes mine would "predict" would be rare at best, (X class flares and cmes aren't your every day occurrence) and the worst part is it can't tell you where in the world it would hit, just that a large scale geologic event is imminent.
  6. If it's video editing, they did a convincing job and had quite a few people in on it. If it's a joke, it's a city wide joke that had a lot of folks in on it as there are multiple videos of this event.
  7. Usually exploding power lines and transformers look like bright point based flashes. If you look at those explosions closely they appear to form v's up towards the sky.. you know where else you frequently see V's of light exploding up towards the sky? Solar flares. Do you know why? Shaped by the same forces. Magnetic field. Some of those lights look like they might be transformers going off as they-re more ball shaped originations, but most of them have this v-burst shape pattern to them.
  8. I have a hypothesis that it does, just not all earthquakes.. it's not an all to all relationship, but a select to few, and that it hasn't been adequately tested against geo-effective flare and cme activity. If you compare earthquakes to general sunspot activity you will never find a correlation, but if you compare it to geo-effective flares and cmes, I highly suspect you would, especially at X8 and above with associated geo-magnetic storms. In particular, these events would be associated with higher yield seismic or volcananic release events. Clear examples of these incidences are Fukashima and this particular quake in Mexico which were preceded by global upheavals in geomagnetic flux induced by charged particle bombardment after high yield X class flares and CMEs. In both events, the activity occurred literally within days of recorded impact of the events on global magnetometers. Earthquake lights are a fairly well documented phenomena and are often unrelated to any power-transformer or power-line discharges. Most laboratory tests have been centered around electrostatic discharge from rock layers, due to the friction like during a thunderstorm the clouds convey lightning. However, I'm more thinking that when the earth's magnetic field lines are impacted by particularly high velocity and high energy CME and flare events that the field lines flex, putting stress on high ferrous concentrations of rocks in fault zones resulting in more of an aurora-like discharge at the surface with the associated quake being an event encouraged by magnetically induced stress. Earth is a giant magnet. If you put two magnets close to each other they either generate a pull or a push depending on the orientation on pulls. Apply this on a planet wide scale and you can imagine the forces generated from even a very small current.
  9. Super rare phenomena, only occurs during geomagnetic-ally induced quakes: https://twitter.com/SUUMA_CDMX/status/906039726959820800
  10. Sending this to USGS. Can solar weather affect geology? Need more data points. Sadly and perhaps fortunately, X class flares of these scales aren't common.
  11. It appears I can predict some major earthquakes.. now if I can just predict the place, I'll be rich: September 6 at 4:11pm · X10 solar flare preceeded Fukishima Earthquake and this flare may have coronal mass ejection towards Earth. Be aware, possible increase in global seismic events and strength over the coming days Today's is an X 9.3 quite a bit weaker given the strength of flares increase exponentially by scale, but still quite a bit of power in it http://abcnews.go.com/International/magnitude-earthquake-rocks-southern-mexico-felt-capital/story?id=49695667
  12. We just got a major energy dump from the sun. #NotOptimistic.
  13. http://spaceweather.com/ Geomagnetic storm in progress. G4. Severe.Possible low latitude auroras. Yes. Lower the mbar, stronger the storm. Tip got to 870 something, was 1,300 miles wide in its wind field.
  14. When reality starts to play like a movie.. start looking frantically for pause and rewind buttons?
  15. The above is courtesy of space weather.com and the atlantic. Now.. powerful enough to block out radio across continents and oceans. Imagine if a fraction of that is in the infra red band, consider the ocean is the largest thermal receiver on the planet. Consider that hurricanes are an outlet for over-charged thermal power in the ocean. Consider that we have 3 hurricanes now, one of which literally appeared out of nowhere. Do math. Conclude North America is screwd.
  16. Working with unity and 3 hour memory leaks is more challenging than reality. I mean.. whose reality crashes every 3 hours? Cmon.
  17. Cheating: Making easy anything you would consider a worthy challenge outside of normal game mechanics via non-interface manipulations. Notable exceptions: When the game breaks or bugs in a very serious manner costing you a lot of effort in resolving a challenge. Then fixing it via "cheating" is justifiably not cheating. Example: Mod change caused a craft to become invalid on the way to its destination. Acceptable cheat in my opinion: replacing craft with rebuilt craft at destination with fuel levels adjusted accordingly. Example: Craft destroyed by update, award campaign value of funds to create original craft and start over again.
  18. Stopped Kerbin death by asteroid when random asteroid showed up threatening Kerbin. Wasn't easy, had to pull an inverse orbit , head-on intercept, high delta-v cost encounter. The craft used is my de-kesslerization vehicle. It forcibly retires old satellites that have run out of fuel by dumping them in the recycling grinder at the space station.
  19. There's an unseen variable in KSP that always has ticked me off.. Energy density. You will rarely beat Monoprop for highest energy density with LOX a close second. On a second note.. Are any of you experiencing miniscule thrust with the VESTA engine?
  20. You've run into the same problem I fought with when I used multiple solar systems. I ended up removing the extra star systems as they're not really applicable to the campaign until I get warp drives unless I want to time warp hundreds of years. I was using Interstellar Adventure. So far as I can tell Koppernicus team nor the mod Curator for Interstellar adventure have been able to resolve this as of yet other than a work around that will only work a fraction of the time and leave solar pretty much an unreliable resource at best. Until a fix is found, expect to be fighting with all solar powered craft, a lot, if you use multiple stars. My solution, and it's really my own work around that will generate any form of reliable power source, is to use beamed power from KSPIE to set up my own "suns" in each foreign star system before arrival at each planet. My space stations, which will eventually become interstellar star ships, have the ability to produce the relay satellites in situ to allow me to ring a planet in beamed power until this problem gets resolved. Should have entitled my campaign, "KSP, when the stars go out."
  21. Wanted to report what looks to be a localization error for some compressed air resources in English. Some containers are displaying a #loc_compressed_ air instead of just.. compressed air on the most recent patch for CRP.
  22. Unleashed the full potential of the Red Baron with a full global power relay... It burnt its radiator fins off.. a first.
