  1. I'll be cowering in a cave, sacrificing small animals over a fire while dancing and praying for the Sun God to return. Or not. I'll be home here in NJ, and watching it on tv or online.
  2. I have a stone cannon ball, fired from Ft. Ticonderoga, date unknown. I also have a bullet from Gettysburg, in good condition, much like the one in this image.
  3. "Location: Haha, nope. Nice try, CIA." You can expect a knock on your door any time now.
  4. I just noticed that I joined these forums today, three years ago. Happy anniversary me. Do I get an award? Maybe free coffee for the day? That's how interesting my day's been so far.
  5. Ha! I remember those! They take great pictures. They were popular in portrait studios, along with other 'names' like Hasselblad. I have an old Kodak box, which still works, and an 8mm 'Revere' movie camera, which also still works. I also have the 8mm 'Revere' projector; It still works also, but it's tired so you have to turn up the motor speed (via a dial on the back) to attain normal speed in motion... I have an ongoing project with it.
  6. I do also. In fact, I have quite a few in the attic ... 9 at last count. I have no pictures of them either. Maybe one of these days I'll have to do that, take pictures. They all still work and boot... or at least they did the last time I checked them out. Aside from this laptop (which I use most) and my linux box, I have 6 other machines laying around the house collecting dust and they all still work too. Other old stuff would be coins and stamps. I get a kick out of the stamp collection, as I have stamps from countries which no longer exist.
  7. 95F 2pm this afternoon, 93F at this moment (5pm), starting to cool off. I fired up the central A/C yesterday and put all the ceiling fans on low (I have one in each room). I'd say summer is officially here.
  8. Don't know the man, but do know the music. RIP
  9. Not to mention that it sits atop a major fault line.
  10. I've noticed that (for me) it's not so much having more stuff going on, it's what stuff in particular that's happening at that moment. For example; Certain engines at launch seem to be the cause, perhaps the exhaust effect, but once out of the atmosphere there's very little stutter. The same with some of the planes I have; At full throttle and high velocity, I'll get stutter. I've taken the same course, steer clear of certain activities, but more often than not, if I'm to get to space with my big stuff, I am just forced to deal with it. Oh, and, I've a 64-bit OS, running the 64-bit version of KSP with half a dozen mods (literally, 6, including Memgraph), with 8gb of memory.
  11. ...and if you're running the 64-bit version.
  12. ????? perhaps I was misunderstood ????? " read books written by individuals alive at the time " " be surprised at what and how much there is to read out there "
  13. Does not "djent" refer to a particular tone produced on a guitar? What would that have to do with a rocket?
  14. History. The only real way to study history is to read books written by individuals alive at the time it happened. You'd be surprised at what and how much there is to read out there. Complaints. My only complaint at this point is life and aging. I'm getting old and I'm not liking it. I'm watching as all those around me drop and die off... like these past two weeks, 3 old friends - gone.
  15. Yes, it has been. Unfortunately the stink of its rotting corpse still wrinkles the noses of many, myself included. A patch is just that - a patch... temporary, inconsistent, and not a solution. For the time being, it suffices (marginally anyway). The last I bothered reading on this, it was a well known and documented Unity/Mono issue. I also recall reading about how developers (including KSP modders) could work their way around this by managing their memory manually and not relying on Unity to do it. That however is a lot of work.
  16. Again, I've never seen this, not even with small probes - for example, a small ion powered probe using big solar panels. However, I will try a few things and see if I observe this. Maybe post a link to your craft file so people can download it and check it out?
  17. I'm not understanding this. Is your craft in atmosphere when this happens? Any weird clipping going on? Are you using nuke engines (LV-N)? I have several ships out on missions right now which have both deployed and retracted solar panels, radiators too, and I've used time warp numerous times on all of them at some point or another. No explosions here.
  18. Hummm.... you might want to talk to @adsii1970 about US History!
  19. I know most of you guys are loading a bunch of mods, but I'm really surprised at the times mentioned. I'm only running a few mods myself, with 97 patches. It's a full 20 seconds before the 'Squad' logo shows at startup... 2:01.35 minutes to the main menu.
  20. At first I thought "Kerbo miles", but then with the volume up and a pair of headphones ... "turbo miles". Apparently we've been here in discussion before too. So, launching little 'Kermans'. First in rockets (discounting the Chinese repelling the Mongols in 1232), it's close in my mind to 'Germans'.
  21. I'm happy for you, I really am. You have no clue, and that's ok with me. Have a nice day.
  22. An interesting exercise for sure. And then there's SCANsat.
  23. Yes, it is. Steam needs to go away. Steam is way too intrusive into ones system, it has been for a long time. It was all thanks to Steam that tens of thousands of players of Half-Life and it's various mods, like DoD, found their games abruptly stop working one year (2004?) - Steam's enforcement of a specific DirectX version, whether or not your game/mod used it. People were forced to either buy a new computer or do without. Some like to call that progress. I'm sure other games were affected by this move of theirs as well. I'm sure somewhere in a buried PC Gamer magazine there's an article about the outrage and controversy over this as well. I have a serious beef with Steam about this. Steam was one of the major factors of the MammJamma DoD Gaming Community dissolving (MammaJamma.org, I still hold the domain**). We had several game servers running, of which I owned one (OldSkool). I also had a serious vested interest in the forums, I owned its PsychoStats host. We were GeoRanked (globally) the #1 DoD Avalanche server for 4 years straight. Quite an accomplishment. It's a very bitter pill..... can you tell? ** For those of you who done the search on Google; No, I am not Bill McGill. Bill is however a friend of mine.
  24. Clever! Very good idea! As for the one with the roots, you could make it happy by just adding on more wood on the bottom (more of those boxes, or some rough hewn wooden staves on the corners?)... it will find them and make use of them.
