  1. Moving anything will be risky business. Early detection is one thing, determining its precise orbit another, trying to account for perturbers another, and where in heaven's name will it end up going in its new orbit once it is moved the biggest question.
  2. From the sound of things, this 'exercise' is merely going to monitor and track TC4; As if we're not going to do that anyway. Exactly what planetary defense systems do we or anyone have anyway? TC4: How NASA Plans to Test its Planetary Defense Systems on Close-Approach Asteroid
  3. I don't know if you'd call it a musical, but Chekhov's "The Good Doctor", with music by Neil Simon, comes to mind. Hilarious.
  4. Such is the way with the really good toys! Many many moons ago in my youth, that was kind of a rite of passage... no headlights on, driving the moonlit backwoods dirt roads of northern NJ. It was the stuff of 'dog dares'.
  5. ...and there are some currently who believe that certain subjects have already had biased influence put upon them as it is, due apparently to 'social concerns'.
  6. That's ok, wait for the remake... it will be all CGI. Ok, side-rant here; What is up with the forums? I'm finding that quoting people does not show the names of those I've quoted. And, hilite-text and quote isn't working either. I thought at first it was because I was using my phone (first I've ever done that, don't like it), but now I see it's also while on my laptop. Something be borked!
  7. Likewise, and I know the area well. Used to live upstate a while back, Ballston Spa / Round Lake area. Don't laugh but I believe NJ has the (or one of the) highest man-made hills... which is actually part of the Meadowlands landfill. It grew so high that the FAA ruled on it and capped it's height because it started to become a navagational hazard for Teterboro Airport! Only in NJ.
  8. Brings the Adirondacks to mind. Are you a 46er?
  9. Here are the US auto sales for September. GM 279K Ford 221K Toyota 174K Honda 142K Nissan 140K Hyundi 57K Kia 52K Volks 51K M-Benz 32K BMW 30K Tesla 3,350 How do "investors" pay $350 per share for Tesla and $14 a share for Ford? Tesla sold 3,000 out of 1,180,000. On top of that, Ford pays a dividend. ALL these companies also manufacture electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Tesla makes electric only. Does Tesla have better engineers than those other companies? I don't think so. The only thing Tesla had going for it was its battery, and even that at this point is falling behind ... not to mention the wake-up call people got when they discovered that Tesla could remotely turn on additional battery life (unlock additional battery capacity), a feature in their car which they'd have to pay extra for up from the base model. Not familiar with that one?... check out that story and the exodus from Florida prior to the hurricane.
  10. Well now that you got it in there, I want to see you get it out... as in launch it back into orbit!
  11. I remember that ^ Total idiots at CBS. Remember this the next time you sit there and watch their spin on anything. RIP Tom. Thanks for all the great tunes and wonderful memories that run with them.
  12. I'm sick of repeating myself to the nurses in the hospital. It's high time they start making notes in the chart - and reading them! I've about five or six other issues I could rant about here, but I'll spare you.
  13. See if you can contact these services via email, and ask them about the problem you're having. You could also ask other people you know in your city, if they use the same services, if they're having the same issues... that would tell you if it's just you or everyone.
  14. - snip - Good gads. And to think this individual will at some point be turned loose to run this world. Sad. Really sad.
  15. I had this problem a while ago with Imgur, they blocked all uploads from email accounts originating from my host. The reason they (Imgur) cited was because too many people would create garbage accounts using that host and do major photo dumps... a violation of their TOS. This is not uncommon. In your case, it's possible that the region you're in (country), the IP range could be blocked because these services have experienced too many problems from users originating there. It's the same thing, only a far broader brush.
  16. Venezuela has gas for sale, really cheap too as they're desperate for cash... just ask Russia. Congratulations! So, when is the launch of "Roo-1"? Will you be sending 'Skippy' up?
  17. As you wish, @Vanamonde ... According to Rob Sanders, a guy who wrote a mod for Celestia for Nibiru based on all data he could collect via various online sources... From Rob's Planet-X .ssc file we have the following data to work with... That should answer some of the questions the OP had. If there are additional questions about what all that stuff is, see the Celestia documentation. As for Nibiru's actual location at this very moment, one could, if one wished to, download the free version of Celestia and the free mod of Rob's from the Motherload, install them and then run Celestia... the mod even has a cell link to take you there. You'll have that question answered "real-time". In fact, I just might, for ha ha's, fire my install up and watch the end as it happens - not.
  18. I hate this with a passion I can't even begin to describe. I care for an aged family member who is permanently disabled with appropriate tag and is wheelchair bound. I just love all the walking wounded who take up the handicap spots, when they're perfectly capable of walking an extra 50 or 100 feet to get into a store. Maybe if they walked they'd shed some of that weight from their fat arses and thunder thighs. I take such issue with it, I check the expiry dates on the hanging placards when I see such as you did; It's one of the few things I find today's cell phones worthy of... documenting abusers. Hit them where it hurts: in the wallet, plus potential loss of their placard... and 90 days of community service will help shed some of those pounds. The townships love it when you help out as such too, those fines are revenue for them.
  19. Been in the hospital these past few days (for a family member, not me), and so I'm here via my phone. Phones suck for forum use. Of that I am convinced.
  20. You mentioned Brooklyn... Brighton beach is in Brooklyn... Brighton beach IS Brooklyn depending on who you ask lol.
  21. The movie Twister comes to mind, with the little science transmitting packages released by 'Dorothy'. I have to wonder why: With today's technology, why aren't there dropsondes which ride with the winds (balloons), never mind just falling down through them (chutes).
