I'm surprised, I thought it would be much higher. That's quite tolerable!

This morning I spent 6 tries attempting to modify one of my ships in the VAB ... 6 times the game crashed when removing a part during the modification process. The 7th try was the success. It appears the causes of the crashes were: After removing the S1 SRBs, I needed to remove the struts I had placed to anchor the top of the S1 SRBs first (the struts went from a central Rockomax 64 tank to the S1 SRBs) before attempting to remove the TT-70 Radial Decouplers. Why? I have no clue. I've not tried to duplicate it, I've already wasted enough time on it.

Understood. So, do either of you (anyone) know how many g's the crew will pull right before that touchdown (on the firing of those retros)? I'm curious - Soyuz stories and all that. Yes, Soyuz stories, many I've heard of bruises, broken bones, even broken teeth (Boris Volynov).

You do realize that to cats and dogs, we're nothing but furless 2-legged food dispensers ... yes? Nothing in this world is free. Somebody pays something for whatever. Giving away free things only means that someone else is paying for it. What do you do when the money runs out? (Hint: Take a look at Venezuela). You'll be eating those beloved cats and dogs.

"Civilization" is not the proper term you want to use here (check the definition of) ... a "population" would be more fitting. On that note; Ants? Termites?? Octopi??? We've got scores of non-technological human populations here right now, living in forests and jungles and deserts and on ice flows, etc. What about them? How would we go about including them in this technological space-faring race we're striving for?

I'm definitely down with that... in the shade, chair tipped back, feet up, cool drink in hand.

Yes, I know that. I also heard the announcer's comment. I was watching the speed indicator (on the right side of the screen), expecting to see a sharp decrease in speed, but I didn't, hence my impression. They commented about a brief 5g pull, but that didn't have anything to do with the retros firing... so of course I'm wondering how many g's are pulled during retro firing. Any idea?

That capsule landing looked pretty hard.

Poll: do you suffer from space junk?
LordFerret replied to awfulhumanbeing's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If you're doing SCANsats, then yes, it's a good reason. -
Plenty of software out there. You could give this a try, free ... Open Broadcaster Software Anyway; A crash at launch is always fun. I'm not talking about the ship, I'm talking about the program. lol It happened the instant I went to jettison my 'gantry extension' ... red arrow.

Poll: do you suffer from space junk?
LordFerret replied to awfulhumanbeing's topic in KSP1 Discussion
That's an idea, except I had a situation once where my craft exploded and crew were still alive in the attached lab ... the lab got turned into debris. The crew got marked as missing, so I went and searched the debris. I found them. I sent a rescue ship and recovered them. Had the debris been deleted by this '0' junk setting, I'd have 2 Kerbals dead to my credit. That's a no no in my book. This was back in v0.90. -
The Mystery Star: HAT-P-22B/ISC 50750

Some things I've found: See also - http://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/0004-637X/785/2/126/meta Mention made here as well - http://real.mtak.hu/16367/1/Affordable spectroscopy for 1m.....pdf In another (unrelated) article, I saw mention of a "HAT-P-22c". I'll assume you've seen all this already? -
Yay!

BREXIT For those of you who don't know what this is, "Brexit is an abbreviation of "British exit" that mirrors the term Grexit. It refers to the possibility that Britain will withdraw from the European Union. The country will hold an in-out referendum on its EU membership on June 23." - http://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/brexit.asp This is a highly political subject, so be mindful of that fact and keep the raw politics out of this. There are a lot of people (in both the financial and political world) who have yes and no opinions regarding the following question, and I'm wondering what You think might be - impact wise. Do you think Brexit (if it happens) will have an impact on the ESA (European Space Agency) and it's current and future programs?

The Mystery Star: HAT-P-22B/ISC 50750
LordFerret replied to ProtoJeb21's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Where is this catalog? I find no such animal titled as such, unless you're meaning this. What is the source of that image you've posted? Could it be you, or whomever, gave an incorrect identifier (ISC 50742)?... I know you said it's temporary, but I find nothing, absolutely nothing on this, not even in the various databases with HAT-P-22 identified. Have you seen Aladin's (Lite) SDSS9 color image of that same object?!? ** http://aladin.u-strasbg.fr/AladinLite/?target=HD 233731&fov=0.04&survey=P%2FSDSS9%2Fcolor ** Edit: You may have to click on the SDSS9 option in the Survey panel on the left to get the color image to load up. -
beautiful NASA Mars recruiting posters
LordFerret replied to Brainlord Mesomorph's topic in The Lounge
No, this isn't about war. I don't want to step into politics, but, these posters are quite like those of the worker's party... and we know how that turns out. That's what I find disturbing about them. They are quite political in nature. -
Any experienced hiker knows that you don't wear a brand new pair of shoes/boots on a hike! You wear something old and quite 'worked-in'; Doing so will all but guarantee no blisters. Compeeds are sold in the US. You can buy them online as well as in some pharmacy chains (like Walgreens, which should be in Florida). I totally agree with your view on wound care (I have to deal with an elderly patient's skin tears). I'm also a big fan of non-stick surgical dressings, and proper surgical tape (no-stick, breathable).

When you sweat a lot, you're losing body salts (electrolytes). Staying hydrated is good; but if you're not replacing the salts lost as well, that could turn into a problem. That's why sports drinks (like Gatorade) have salt in them. So, rather than carry around sports drinks, you carry your water and salt tablets.

The Mystery Star: HAT-P-22B/ISC 50750
LordFerret replied to ProtoJeb21's topic in Science & Spaceflight
You'll find an entry for it in Simbad. You'll also find 100+ references in various catalogs via a VizieR search ... so I'd say there's quite a bit of information out there on it. -

You need to ask? "NASA's Mars Recruitment Posters Will Convince You to Go Die in Space" - Gizmodo A call to service. A call to workers. Look familiar? Maybe you're not old enough. -
