Your worst crashes! (That you survived)
LordFerret replied to Spacetraindriver's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've posted this picture before, quite a while back. This was the end result of a catastrophic failure during launch of a ginormous rocket I built... it tore itself apart after clearing the gantries (TT-18A's). I was able to deploy the chutes, just in time for the capsule to land on the top of a TT-18A. And there it sat. (Good luck getting down guys!) -
[KSP v1.1.3] Stock Bug Fix Modules (Release v1.1.3b.1 - 10 Jul 16)
LordFerret replied to Claw's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm not much into planes (in KSP anyway), but the one MK3 jet I built suffered likely the same, only it would fall apart just rolling down the runway during takeoff. The FAT-455 wings were the main problem, they would just fall off. Strutting them fore and aft (top and bottom) did the trick. The next problem after that was discovering the LY-50 landing gear used as nose-gear is a bad move... not steerable. Thing flies like a bus, lands like a brick. -
What dreams are is a good question, but it is a thing we do not know a whole lot about yet. One thing about dreams however is showing itself more certain, tied to the research of why we dream, which is the brain working on turning short-term memory gathered while awake to long-term memory. Apparently, while we're not explicitly aware of it, our brain has the ability to record everything it senses - sight, sound, taste, touch, smell, etc. Current research focused on the molecular neurogenetics of the developing eye and brain have shown both evidence and the mechanism of this.

I'm sure you've seen this already? If not, might be of some help. http://scienceblogs.com/startswithabang/2013/05/24/how-to-find-your-very-own-supernova/

Pretty pictures. But, too many squares and triangles (as stars?!?) for me. Where are the ships? Who reads or believes anything coming from MSN anyway? Someone else in here posted a video of a new upcoming game where you do fly spaceships and land on planets and collect science, play different roles, etc, all within an endless as-played-added-to generated galaxy. Seemed like a GTA5 goes to space thing. Wish I could remember the name. That game looked seriously cool.

C, C++, C# Programming - what is the sense in this
LordFerret replied to PB666's topic in Science & Spaceflight
There are plenty of examples given on the web, Google it. -
The Air Force isn't a bad deal. Don't know if you're talking about the USAF though or another country. If USAF, if you intend on attending their college (Air Force Academy) you'll need at least 700's on your SATs before they'll accept you... they'll consider less, but there's no guarantee. I would suggest you talk extensively with a recruiter first.

Spacestation exploding for no reason
LordFerret replied to milosh's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Forget docking with that station then. Pull the rescue ship in to 50m or even 100m, and EVA those Kerbals out. Then maybe deorbit that station and build a new one. You might also want to try this, as there is an overheat fix, but I don't know if it would apply to the docking ports - but maybe worth a try. -
Some of you might be interested in reading through this, there's a lot of valuable resource in it... http://www.back2college.com/accelerate.htm

There is a reason why there are only science research stations in Antarctica ... a UN Treaty. There will be no colonies built there.

In my case, life happened meant that while in school(s) I ran across business opportunities I simply could not turn down. I should note that those opportunities also offered me a learning situation school simply could not offer.

No no no... we did this stuff in high school!

I figured something as such. I've Googled Superbug and TacPack; Interesting stuff, new to me. What's you're opinion of it verses Falcon 4.0 BMS?
-
Interesting. We used to call this "gymnastics".

Should build the horse way bigger... Trojan horse, filled with Kerbals!

Couldn't really see the pipper except in the last two runs. What were you dropping? Looked to me like you were a bit too low to be dropping the likes of GBU's, CBU's, or MK's ... at that altitude you'd have been hit by your own blast and/or shockwave.

If you took the picture, developed the negatives, printed and developed the print - I'd say yes. I used to have a darkroom in my basement. I miss working with film.

That Charles W. Morgan is super nice ... can tell already, going to be beautiful when done.

What's wrong with a pencil? lol I was once a Rubik's cube. Simple enough to make... a big box, square sheets of colored paper, glue. Only problem was at the party I went to, every time I sat down, my friends would come up and set their drinks down on me.

Basic question about angular momentum.
LordFerret replied to Tigermisu's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Looks like maybe he hydroplaned. You can see it right at the beginning, the slight drift to the right, and then he tries to correct (turn left, but the front wheel just dances out), and from there it just lays down. I've had this happen; the bike can just slide right out from under you once you're off to the side of its center of gravity even just a little bit (it doesn't take much). About the only thing you can do once it starts to go, if you know it's coming, is ride it down trying to stay over the bike... at least that way the bike takes most of the road-rash and not you. You can easily test this out without the high speed - just ride on snow, or ice. -
A very key comment and fact.

Funny... dream in color - hamburgers.
