Sorry to chase you up, Tim, but can that land at less that 0.5 m/s?
-
This is for the craft which are may be to bulky to do a full stop, but which still utilise some alternative form of lift for takeoff and landing, instead of simply having wings*. They must be able to stop without engines running, and stop under 35 M/S. *I think Magic Turbines are an exception. This is my effort. This thing is massive. It runs through its supply of RCS gas like a madman trying to drink as much diesel as possible in an effort to see if it will catch fire in his stomach. At touchdown, it was moving at 33 m/s. With payload.

You did it. You finally did it. You killed us all!

This is, aside from the customary sarcasm of James Leicester, the only thing I\'ve really found amusing at any point after Series 4 started. Also, I think the fact that the majority of the team [discounting Becker\'s protection forces] was made up of \'rank amatuers who happen to be brilliant at what they do\', to quote Leicester himself, was the best point about Primeval. That a zookeeper would be using a tranquiliser gun on a dinosaur, that a university conspiracy geek would invent a detection system and a means of locking the Anomalies, that a University professor would understand the complexities and behaviour of the Anomalies [temporal fault lines, flow of warm water creating steam, predicting the Anomalies, and of course, being the estranged husband of the show\'s antogonist (Helen Cutter)] all together made the show what it was. As soon as you turn the entire thing into being professional - such as the majority of the ARC workers having military backgrounds, the computer operator with Hollywood-movie levels of unrealism with regards to how hacking works, making all the vehicles the same, and using a boring-looking building as a headquarters [unlike the old ARC, which actually looked iconic. I thought even the Home Office from Season 1 looked more in place.], it all becomes routine and monotonous, and you have to turn to more and more unrealistic or badly thought out plots to keep it vaguely interesting, which might appeal to some - just not those who really liked the first three seasons.

If the forward lift wings, and the external fuel lines, and the fact that its built from spaceplane parts, and the fact that its just not the same shape are ignored, then this could almost pass for a 747! Requires -C7 -C7 Experimental -MaryG\'s Lander Leg 3 -NovaPunch

Veto Aerospace Talon Station
RedDwarfIV replied to RedDwarfIV's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I seem to recall that your spacestation was completely symmetrical. Its just that at first it looked like such a complicated build that it must have been asymmetrical. Besides, this is my first use of the Epsnode in a spacestation. -
My god... its full of stars! Also, Total Perspective Vortex. All its missing is the fairy cake and the \'You Are Here\' sign.
-
In the 4th series, the plots got a lot less interesting for me. There was also far too much contrast with previous series. Plus, the electric guns [not Tasers] were quite silly. And the new ARC wasn\'t exactly an iconic building. The only part I liked was that the Detector\'s console looked like... well, a console. Rather than five screens arranged in a cross-shape with some keyboards slung underneath all being dwarfed by the massive room its in.
-
The Talon Station is the first operable spacestation VA has built which utilises the six-way node. Whilst several were siphoned off toward the Robin project, the Talon requires just one per station. It carries four habitation/storage modules, four lab modules, the command capsule, the service module and its primary drive, a NERVA engine. It carries four solar panels for power. Kerbin orbit. Munar orbit[=~ 30000 metres] Kerbol orbit [note Kerbin and the Mun, in the background.] Low Kerbol orbit (Sorry about the Solar Collectors, Tim, but I seriously wanted something that could get itself pretty much anywhere you wanted it, and I didn\'t want to config edit.)
-
Got a lot less interesting at the start of Series 4 Discuss. (With as little flaming as possible, and arguments should be thought out rather than saying 'I didn\'t like it.' Since I\'m the OP, I can flout that rule for my first post.)

Hey there. You see that ball at the bottom of your screen when you\'re in Launch? It will roll around when you tilt. There is a marker to show you the centre of that ball. Now, here\'s the important part. Imagine the ball is staying exactly still, like it has a gyroscope in it. The ball isn\'t moving, but the control panel is. The point being, if the centre marker is on blue, you\'re going up. If its on red, you\'re going down. All those markings on the ball tell you what angle you\'re going up/down/to-the-side at. Hope this helps - RedDwarfIV

I think he\'s more of an Aerospace kind of builder to me. IE, not governmental, but still professional. Though he might have to work on his presentation if he was going to make a company out of it.

Sunshine for the win. Great movie. Icarus leaving Munar orbit... -
Ahem.

Compromise accepted.

You\'d knock it for six.

Herds have nothing to do with forums pertaining to rocketry. AMLPR SCUD missiles, however...

I\'m surprised this hasn\'t degenerated into a flame war by now. And in any case, its the poll that decides it, and dinosaurs are winning.

Centri... fudge?

Veto Aerospace Leviathan Aircraft Carrier
RedDwarfIV replied to RedDwarfIV's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Actually, I just don\'t think its good enough yet. Takeoff is still difficult and the centre section of the deck wobbles all over the place. -
Veto Aerospace Leviathan Aircraft Carrier
RedDwarfIV replied to RedDwarfIV's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I tried shooting it with the railgun, but being close enough to aim meant that the shots all just went straight over it. I shall have to equip my interceptor with missiles. They should be lighter too. -
Veto Aerospace Leviathan Aircraft Carrier
RedDwarfIV replied to RedDwarfIV's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
C7 C7 Experimental C7 Hardpoints HSTW Skids NovaPunch Project Firelark JellyCube\'s Weapons Pack. I almost managed to land the plane back on the ship. I made the carrier go a lot faster than normal because previously the interceptor was too fast. -
The Leviathan can be safely described, even in front of its engineers, as a big wing with a runway on it. However, it is a huge improvement over the comparitively tiny Softwhale, since it can actually go straight. The Leviathan carries a Seahawk-type interceptor. Whilst this is certainly not an improvement over the Softwhale\'s Softwing-type, it is light enough to be carried by a simple stock decoupler, and as such no aircraft part-carrying trucks were driven that day. It generates such a massive amount of lift what it needs only two sets of pontoons, with some skids on either side to facilitate dry landings and keep stability in water. Veto Aerospace claims no responsibility over the misplaced heavy aileron having broken off one of the large detachable wings and landed on the deck. And the best part for me... the plane takes off.

At least his arms reach the controls. T-Rexes were scavengers.
