My Ares 1 had a beefed up LES linked to the abort and action group 1 to deploy parachutes to land the 6 kernels gently -

Oh yeah I forgot, about this, I wanted to show you a 2.5m custom cockpit I made that I think turned out pretty good, I also have a way to color the fairings. I love your AWAC's, you could probably make the Radome out of fairings too.

I've also been playing with two physics settings, velocity exponent and density exponent, these control when the Mach effects start, when the orange glow starts etc, thanks to @NathanKell for helping. I like a picture of a flaming meteor of Kerbal death as much as the next person, however it annoyed me when my air refuelling tanker would get Mach effects, also I want to take some video at high Mach (2.5+) and didn't want the plane to look like a meteor streaking across the sky, it's supposed to be stealthy dammit. The default values are aeroFXVelocityExponent = 3.5 // Exponent to velocity used when calculating aeroFX strength aeroFXDensityExponent1 = 0.5 // This is e1 So I have tweaked them a bit, and I am much happier, it also helps with frame rates as the effects suck a bit so not having them happen means doing high speed manoeuvres (sub 500ms) does not affect the frame rate. -

Really any small plane with Panthers is ultra-maneuverable, if I leave Gimbal on full I can get a replica F-18 in the air off the Launchpad. I find myself turning the Gimbal off on all my replica's now, I nearly did a Cobra turn in an SR-71! Anyway I really like your little plane, I especially like the teeny tiny custom intakes. -

I use two mods, though it could probably be done with one, I've always used Flag Decals, it's easy and there aren't any scaling issues, but it does have quite a few parts, I don't like a cluttered menu. The other new one is Nebula Decals, which requires Tweakscale to work, and you have to worry about scaling issues, and it can't scale too big. But if you want multiple different decals it's your only choice. Yep. still works, I have only just installed it so not too familiar yet, I only saw two parts, but I didn't go looking for the others, that might explain my scaling issues too -

The capsule annoys me, not because of the way it looks on your plane, which looks nice, but because I know you could use a mk3 cockpit and get more/better performance, dv, and crew -

I like your sub, I may be competing with you (with a completely stock and unpainted version of course) Edit: I got the cockpit mask fixed, lights up and everything, added a few more parts, quite a bit more to do bu you can see it is pretty useful already. -

I have some good news, for those people wanting to create Masks, here is my procedure. Open Squads dds part texture (i.e. NoseCone.dds) in a program that supports it (I use ImageMagick it works on virtually any platform) I export the image to .png and use Gimp to edit it, you may edit it in the program you used to open the .dds Now you may edit the masks according to the original imgur album below When you take the dds file and convert it to png, then paint your mask, before you export it to KerbPaint directory you must flip the image vertically. Then the mask will line up with the texture in game. After you have created the mask you must add it to a config file, if you are doing it for a mod then please create a seperate config file for your mod, if you want I can add that config file to the download zip I am creating.

Im lovin my planes at the moment 65 Parts! it has two bays for equipment, a docking port on top for refuelling, still working on KerbPaint to get all the parts painted. -

I know this thread is quite old, but I could not really find a closer explanation of what I am looking for. I want to tone down the 'Mach Effects', not eliminate them completely but make them less obvious and to come in at higher speeds, the picture below illustrates a plane at about Mach 1.5, and it looks to be right on the edge of turning orange, in reality this type of plane could approach mach 2.8 without ever having a 'glow'. I know that some missiles that take of very fast can have their nose cones glow white hot from heat, but I am not sure at what speed that glow is apparent, but I am guessing above Mach 5. Going by the above these seem to be the settings in physics.cfg that control the aerodynamic effects, but I am unsure if they cover the start of the Mach Effects or just the start of the Orange glow. the labelling seems to indicate they are in m/s and not Mach but I would think not. Yeah I have seen f-18 replicas take off from the VAB pad with the gimballing after burning panthers
