Rolls-Royce Thrust Measuring Rig mk2
selfish_meme replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I really liked the first one you built, and I think this one looks even better! Nice job! I think I will be seeing this on Spacecraft Friday, I hope the person doing it is testing craft this time. -
OpenGL has MSAA built in, and the program tells the GPU to apply the AA, thats why override works, the GPU just applies it to the rendered scene anyway, no matter what the program says, your card can apply anything once it's in the pipeline to the screen controller, which might be blackracks problem with the black ocean jaggies, I think he calls on the AA for scatterer but in some cases, especially OpenGL the GPU might be ignoring him or the game engine might not be forwarding on the calls. I know if you turn on the in game AA to 2x, it makes it better even though the game might be in OpenGL and AA is turned off, or your GPU is ignoring the game calls and applying AA anyway. It says to me that scatterer expects the game AA to do certain things in order for it to work properly.

I think with Fallout 4 and no new release till after christmas it's getting harder to garner a significant response right now, so maybe implement the showcase idea after christmas closer to the release of 1.1 when more people are on the forums.

Deep Space Exploratory Vehicle design thread

Build a temporary frame in 4x symmetry out of girders from underneath the fairing which goes up around the fairing, make it far enough away from the fairing so that when your mouse is near the ends of the frame the fairing remains undisturbed, strut from the payload through the fairing to this frame, delete the frame, your payload is now strutted to the fairing. This guy did a video on it I set it to the time he builds the frame -

Gosh, now I am going to have to clean mine up! Just in case people pop round you know, I hope I can finish the tank in time for this weeks SCF. You should probably make it one previously unfeatured craft from a showcase, rather than feature a whole showcase. Was just thinking a list of featured crafts and their source might be a good idea, if I have time I will try and do it, though I have something special in mind for this weeks SCF and I don't want to overburden myself because my playing hours are severely limited.

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread

Go into edit, click in the quote after gif/image, backspace, save. I am basing the tank loosely on a T-54/55, but at the moment it is function over form. Next step is to add the vertical gun bearing, tank rounds and then finally I might try and jazz it up, it's only a bit over 100 parts at the moment. -

The tank is coming along I think Tank Val likes it. You can edit the quote to remove it -

Well I don't think it's the actual Normandy -

The top ship looks a bit like the Normandy I completed the braked bearing with a fairing and only the width of the fairing base in height difference, working but stiff. -

So a very slight addition to the stock bearing toolbox, a bearing brake, the small bearing on the inside has a couple of wheels facing out and touching the outside cylinder, when the brakes are applied the bearing stops rotating even though my finger is still on the q button. Releasing sometimes needs a stop and start on the q button to get it going again. Useful if you want to rotate something into position and then have it stay there until you want to disengage it again. Maybe a gear drive? http://fat.gfycat.com/LimitedPlaintiveAfricanaugurbuzzard.mp4 Trying to make it shorter using a decoupler instead of the fuselage but proving problematic so far, maybe a fairing....bing! Not sure what happened with the gif above, the link turned into a huge image with huge whitespace after it -

Oh, yes that tank gun has a vertical bearing that is small and quite resilient, fits inside a 1.25 structural fuselage, I am working on a brake for it, I have one for the main turret, so you can set and hold vertical and horizontal angles. In fact I might stick it in inside a structural fuselage and brake against that.....that should work. -

700+ms, 5.2km from source, almost flat trajectory, just before it splashed down, this is a tank round, I can't believe how stable it is It's not going to knock down any buildings, but at close range it can obliterate structural plate That's well before maximum velocity too -
Colombia, steal my rockets from the Finch, they work well and are very accurate, though theres no way you are getting 24 on there. As far as the debate, the mk1 inline cockpit is a reasonable facsimile of the me 262 cockpit, but it does determine the scale of the craft, and trying to capture the triangular cross section is really hard in 1.25m scale.

OK I have a 2 ton turret bearing box that can accommodate turrets from 3.6t up to 17t (must use large SAS to move) width is 1.6m, length 2.4m and height is 1.4m , it has a probe core and lots of batteries, all you need to add is your tank, turret, probe core and SAS. If anyone wants it I will upload later. 32 parts. -

Tried Jon144's Relentless E3 and the bearing is much better than any of the previous tanks I had ever tested, better than mine. I can see how to improve mine to be as good as Jon144's (supporting turret with wheels rather than just suspending it from bearing) but apart from being a bit smaller, neater and requiring less parts it won't be any improvement on strength, still it might be worth it, I am building it in a small box that can be separated and used as the turret mount for any tank.
