Same here, picked 2001, but Moon was definitely a close second.

You didn't, the RB part has been wiped out, but for some reason users can still see their (last?) thread(s) posted in there. I can see an old thread I made some time ago there, but that's it. The thread appears locked, but it seems like you can still edit it. Also, that thread is the only one I made in the RB, so could someone please confirm if you can only see your last thread, or all of the ones you wrote. Edit: I can see only the two first replies from the thread, I'm pretty sure there were more...

[11/26/15 Update] Say Hello to the Light-Green Group!
Gaarst replied to Endersmens's topic in Kerbal Network
This, and the fact that you cannot give more than 1 rep at a time through "likes". And I have yet to find another way to give rep on the new forums. Plus side is: 5 times less rep means 5 times less users to add to the LGG group. -
Thinking about it, I don't remember seeing a length limit on the older forums. As long as people don't post their entire logs, and that mods are here for the few that actually do, putting a limit is not worth the trouble.
-
There are no limit on the other side either, and if there is, it is 4 chars or less.
-
Actually, the full title isn't even needed, nor is the first letter: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/126596-b This will work for the thread named "Tables in posts and signatures", try with any other letter combination instead of "b", eg: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/126596-pmiouyjtrge works too. I think I need an explanation on that "feature"...
-
Yes. Edit: seems like there's no 5char limit anymore.
-
Et d'ailleurs, il va y avoir une section française comme avant, ou tout est mis en International ? (Je sais que le forum est encore en travaux, patapé)
-
Grey dots are linked to the number of posts, but they don't seem to be linked to reputation. I've seen people with 5 dots, hundreds of posts, but very few rep. Still needs investigating though, or an explanation by someone who has experience with IPS. Just tried with your post (sorry for possible notifications spam): liking gives 1 rep, unliking takes that rep away. Also, is there a way to properly rep a post, but not liking, ie: add more than 1 point to a user ? And is there a way to quote someone properly without starting a new post ? Using the quote function does not link to a post or user.

As far as stock KSP gets, you're not going to have real life performances with rockets that only need 3.5 km/s dV to get to orbit. In real life, you need at least 9 km/s dV for LEO. You can make your rockets look like real ones, but they will not perform like real ones. For most players this is not a problem, but for those looking for realism it forces them to get mods. And even then, I cringe every time I make it to the Moon with a 2200t rocket. I don't think parts should be copied off real parts though, I like how KSP works like a LEGO game when it comes to building rockets, with everything fitting on top of evertything. One of my major complaints with RO is that besides parts from a pre-made rocket, nothing is going to fit on your [insert random part here].

Well, speaking of the devil: did that thing just yesterday with my RSS lunar rocket:

Click on your name top right, account settings and signature; and you'll have an awesome WYSIWYG editor to make your sig more beautiful than ever !! (yes that was sarcasm)

Had fun with Kronal Vessel Viewer: Scale is 1:1, and realised I am going to need a bigger LES... (Also, sorry for the huge image but IPS is not cooperating )

Unscathed, yet it is now but a mere relic of a forsaken past... -
I enjoyed vB better because I knew how it worked, at least basic BBCode which allowed me to do what I wanted to. I guess we'll get used to IPS some time, but for now, though I hate to complain for this kind of thing, the change indeed feels like a downgrade.

[thread=126593]test[/thread] Edit: OK, so the "thread" thing doesn't work anymore, and you can doublepost in less than 30min, good to know
-
Wait, no BBCode ? test test [url=http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/]test Edit: OK, so no spoilers and links are automatic... :/
-
Same here, signature messed up... Is it HTML or BBCode that doesn't work anymore ? (I'd think HTML because of tables, but I would like to make sure)

Decided to start redesigning some my RSS launchers that were starting to look a bit too "meh" for my taste. But before that, I took a family picture of all my main launchers... and realised I also might need to fill in the gap between my lunar rocket and my second heaviest rocket. :P [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/gw4j44h.png[/IMG] [spoiler=Boring table]Launchers from left to right: [TABLE="class: grid, width: 900"] [TR] [TD]Name[/TD] [TD]Payload to LEO (t)[/TD] [TD]Mass of the launcher (t)[/TD] [TD]Mass with payload (t)[/TD] [TD]Core diameter (m)[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C0 Citron (Lemon)[/TD] [TD]0.7[/TD] [TD]18.3[/TD] [TD]19[/TD] [TD]1.25[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C1 Pégase (Pegasus)[/TD] [TD]3[/TD] [TD]80.4[/TD] [TD]83.4[/TD] [TD]2.5[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C2 Griffon (Griffin)[/TD] [TD]5.5[/TD] [TD]165[/TD] [TD]171[/TD] [TD]2.5[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C3 Bélier (Ram)[/TD] [TD]10[/TD] [TD]210[/TD] [TD]220[/TD] [TD]3.75[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C3+ Bélier E[/TD] [TD]15[/TD] [TD]262[/TD] [TD]277[/TD] [TD]3.75[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C4 Icare (Icarus)[/TD] [TD]20[/TD] [TD]541[/TD] [TD]561[/TD] [TD]3.75[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C5 Jupiter[/TD] [TD]25[/TD] [TD]504[/TD] [TD]529[/TD] [TD]5 -> 3.75[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]C6 Juno[/TD] [TD]40[/TD] [TD]678[/TD] [TD]718[/TD] [TD]5[/TD] [/TR] [TR] [TD]CX Alba Ice 2[/TD] [TD]109[/TD] [TD]2130[/TD] [TD]2238[/TD] [TD]7.5 -> 5[/TD] [/TR] [/TABLE] (Alba is here with Lunar Insertion Stage)[/spoiler]

Here are a few ideas/thoughts I got about this: First, the realism aspect: Either go for a somewhat realistic engine design, with requirements depending on several parameters (thrust, use, fuel... will influence nozzle, turbopump...); or go more "KSP-style" and allow the player to strap random parts together to make an engine. Realism would allow the mod to be more complete IMO, but will require mods (Real Fuels first, maybe even RO depending on the mod development) and may not be suitable to some KSP players. A more realistic mod could also include number of ignitions depending on the parts used, the possibility to upgrade an engine without redesigning it (could be done using tech tree progression in career). A more "arcade" mod would be easier to use, but you will reach KSP's limits in terms of engineering pretty fast. Also, a mod built on such a model might have difficulties with other-mods support later on. The game implementation: In game, in the VAB ? Might be a bit tedious for more complex engines. A dedicated building ? An external program ? A custom engines save system: It would be nice to have the engines saved as separate files, to allow them to be transfered between saves easily. Or at least make a custom category (like sub-assemblies) for the engines you have created. Failures: Maybe allow parts to have failures when they are new, a bit like the random failures mods in KSP, but maybe chances of failure could be influenced by how many times a part has been used with specific other parts, make parts "affinities" (parts that are more reliable when put together). Plumes: Not really a gameplay aspect itself, but I wonder how you are going define where the engine flames and smoke should appear, especially for custom clusters. These are only a few ideas I had while thinking for a (little) bit about this. I'm sorry I'm bringing more questions than answers or actual ideas :P

Definitely going to try (and complete) this challenge ! -
