If a Hangar-equipped cruiser is on parking orbit, it's a usual job  to upload cargo packs from Kerbin with, for example, a spaceplane, placing it into hangars. Then cruiser flies to another planet and releases cargo packs from its/her Hangars. So, every pack would consist of: Probe Core (a key part), battery, OX-STAT, some structural part and as many containers with goods as the spaceplane can lift.

But it's possible to produce a supply modules pack as a ship, store it in an inline Hangar, transport to another planet and there release. For example, a sausage of docked one-by-one: USI ControlCenter, Kerbitat, PDU, connected with docking nodes or decouplers. Or a sausage of several tank filled by resources with a Probe Core attached to one of them.

Athmospheric model ? noob query
kerbiloid replied to stewjw's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There were several of data recording mods: 1. Logomatic  very outdated, but still partially workable. Alas, legal link gone with spaceport. 2. FlightRecorder  outdated, don't know is it legally accessible. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/entries/1011-0-21-1-Flight-Recorder 3. Graphotron http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/38319-0-21-x-Graphotron-2000 4. Telemachus http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/24594-0-25-%282014-10-12%29-Telemachus-%E2%80%93-Telemetry-and-Flight-Control-in-the-Web-Browser -

The 3D printing of Lunar Base Shackelton.
kerbiloid replied to Aethon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Why don'wet continue living in natural caves, building instead city caves? Because they are rare, have a random non-useful structure and are geologically unpredictable. There is no atmosphere btw. Do you want you room frozen/heated -100..+100 C every day  as lunar surface? So, anyway they will live with artificial illumination and watch the nature through webcams  whether over the surface or under. (Btw: what to look for? No birds, no trees, no clouds. You can just use a picture instead of webcam  no movement around except rovers.) Power is anyway provided by a cable from an energy plant placed anywhere. Airlock/door on the surface, downstairs, Vault 101, as usually. Urban office, artificial light, water from cooler, air from conditioner, sunblinded windows... Most of people wouldn't even notice any difference  except low gravity. So, no problem. -

With Kerbals you don't need even this. Just use pits left by the previous Kerbals. -

Just some dynamite and then something like this: Use excavated ground as a ballast if needed. Then roll down modules and bury them. BTW: all buried habitats would look absolutely similar  like a low ground hill, and KSP modders could use one model and texture for all of them. -

Find, blow up or excavate. Bulldozer/excavator is a primitive, hard and rusty machine, and you anyway need it building a serious moon base, not just a tent camp  at least to level the ground or to make roads. Melting metal oxydes to make 3d-inks requires a powerful energy source, and 3d-printers are delicate equipment. So, sending a bulldozer/excavator is much easier than sending a bulldozer/excavator and several self-propelled 3d-printers. Also you don't need to melt ground just to make a layer of inert material. You need only shovel it onto the roof and cover with a nice plastic sponsors' billboard. 1/6 gravity btw makes all the process much easier than on Earth because potential energy is 6 times less. Wall itself is even more proper! You have the same solid metal capsule wall and miles of ground in any direction except the roof. No need to do exactly. You would put just about a meter of ground as an anti-radiation and anti-meteorites protection. And there's nothing to pre-plan when you make an outpost. Any plans will change many times and anyway you will need heavy machinery. Why not just to send one of bulldozers a bit earlier. -
Kerbonauts, help me figure this out
kerbiloid replied to RocketBlam's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Relative to Earth: V circular = sqrt(6e24 * 6.67e-11 / 3.844e8) = 1020 m/s. V parabolic - V circular = (sqrt(2) - 1) * 1020 = 422 m/s. Relative to Mun: V circular = sqrt(7.35e22 * 6.67e-11 / ~2e6) ~= 1600 m/s. V parabolic - V circular = (sqrt(2) - 1) * ~1600 ~= 660 m/s. I.e. 700 m/s more  and you're a planet. -

kerbiloid replied to Aethon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Why? The "roof" square is the same, the ground layer thickness is the same. So, the ground weight just above the habitat is the same. Of course, you would shovel 2..3 times more ground aside of the habitat - just to fill the whole pit. But instead you don't need to melt tons of metal oxydes (many megajoules btw) and then to flush them through a pipette. I.e. bank 20 tons with a primitive bulldozer which is useful anyway  or to dig, melt, filter, push 10 t and need 3d-printers and a reactor. -
Compositions of the various planets in KSP.
kerbiloid replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Density: lead = 11.35, gallium = 5.9, granite = 2.5. Any molten alloy would just sink down to the planet core once it has been melten out. Eve ocean would be smth close to Eve atmosphere. -

1. Get a pit. 2. Put habitat downwards. 3. Bury a pit with a bulldozer. ... 4. PROFIT! No 3d-printers involved, nothing to melt. -
Sorry, a few words about RAM vs textures. Trying other mods I have tried several times to replace MBM files with PNG ones. I have converted MBMs to PNGs with mbm2png utility from kerbalspaceport, then sometimes compressed png with a graphics software. Every time I've gotten the same result: PNG files are greatly less in GameData directory, the game starts more fast, all looks amusing. But the Task Manager shows that PNG greatly increased RAM used by KSP (for hundreds of MBytes). As I can see, all USI textures are PNGs. Maybe, converting them to MBM would decrease RAM usage. I would check this myself, but have absolutely no idea how to convert PNG to MBM.

Whether Unity installation is required at all? (Except dll already present in KSP). And at least SharpDevelop compiles different mods fine as described in this tutorial without Unity installation.

Anyone Have a Copy of the Hollow Structures and Hulls mod?
kerbiloid replied to KyleKidd's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I have several HSH versions (since KSP 0.19) in my downloads archive, but I don't know if this is allowed to give them to somebody: there is either no license at all, or just "Do not distribute derivatives without my permission, feel free to modify parts for personal use." So, only moderator could decide if this is legal. -
Maybe a piece of code from the great FractalUK's Interstellar mod would be useful. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/43839-0-25-KSP-Interstellar-%28Magnetic-Nozzles-ISRU-Revamp%29-Version-0-13 As I can see, its license allows it. There is a link to the plugin source: https://github.com/FractalUK/KSPInterstellar A source file FNPlugin/AntimatterStorageTank.cs, method doExplode() makes a bright white flash when a tank explodes. Probably, you could implement smth similar.
