totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
pTrevTrevs replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
So it begins. Guess this means I have to start working on torpedoes for Das Reboot. -
3D model intended as a replica of the LM looks better than the LM itself... okay... But seriously, I bet it was pretty neat to see a real LM (wasn't that one supposed to be on Apollo 18?). The closest I've come is a mock-up they have at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. On Topic: The LM under design here looks really neat too, I can't wait to try it out!

I must agree with @RocketSquid here, the term "Star Fighter" is not limited just do ships from the Star Wars universe. As for it hardly being able to get to space, I would like to point out that some ships in Star Wars were incapable of reaching orbit on their own anyway. Although not a fighter, I believe the LAAT/i gunship was able to be launched from orbital altitude and land safely but it was not possible to reach orbit with one starting from the ground Citation needed. I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan, but not quite that big. -
Sure, here I am. @Red Iron Crown

Hmm, I haven't heard of these changes, where can I read about them? If I remember correctly it's the fairing that pushes the cargo lander over the weight limit. I think without it the lander weighs about as much as the crew lander plus its fairing (approximately 60 tons). EDIT: After looking at the latest devnotes I noticed that RemoteTech style comms relays are being added in the next update. How much is this going to require us to alter our craft to allow them to maintain communications between Kerbin and Duna?

[1.1.2] WIP - Make it SINK - Alpha testers needed
pTrevTrevs replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I refuse to quote and snip that long post while on my phone, so have a mention instead @Fengist I see, you really are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I guess if enough people wanted it, we could shame Squad into fixing the water, sort of like the "Save the Round-8" movement awhile back. Since several conceptual missions to other planets have involved the use of submarines, it could make sense for them to allow it, although I do agree that they probably couldn't care less about proper fluid dynamics underwater. Good news though, my U-boat is diving and surfacing with ease, now comes getting the thing to turn. -
I took a look at both my landers to see just how much weight I would have to shave off. The crew lander is well within acceptable limits at 59 tons. The cargo lander, on the other hand, is well over 110 tons, at least 40 tons over my Ares V's tested lift capacity. I may end up sending an ISRU to allow me to carry less fuel, although I highly doubt the lander even has 40 tons of fuel aboard.

Looks pretty nice, although the Mir Core Module only had three solar panels, yours has four (assuming the radiators are intended to imitate solar panels).

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
pTrevTrevs replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Yeah, that might be it for the dive planes, but I've built boats before that had rudders that worked very well, I don't understand why this one would be so hard, unless it happens to be extraordinarily heavier than the others, which might be the case, since the entire inner hull is built of Mk 2 liquid fuel tanks. -

Possibly, although the rudder doesn't work at all, and the dive planes don't seem to work very well either, I've been controlling the attitude of the boat by shifting ballast around manually. The dive time may actually be artificially lengthened, since I never get a very high FPS on KSP anyway, and I believe the boat was around 460 (?) parts last I checked. -

Das Reboot dive tests. It passed, although the sub takes longer than I expected to submerge and surface. Somehow the shaders that usually appear when underwater are gone. I don't know if this is a Scatterer problem or what, but it sure is ugly Still working on getting the hatches on the deck to not be obstructed and practicing manual ballast control. Speed is slow, maneuverability is bad, dive time is bad, part count is not ideal, but it looks more like a Type VII U-boat than any of my other attempts, and it can dive and resurface as many times as you want! -

Huh, 1785. I was hoping to see the moment I reached 1776 for... patriotic reasons... but it looks like I missed it by nearly ten points. -

@Gman_builder Good Lord, man! I'm starting to think that every member of this forum (including myself) is mentally insane. This is just crazy! -
Oh boy, it's not even 7:00am yet and already I get to ruin a small part of somebody's day! @Columbia come hither.

Came here expecting to find Kerbal Crash Dummies, was not disappointed. They sort of remind me of the giant robot from Power Rangers, but whatever.

Known for his airliners, and for inadvertently naming himself after a space disaster. -
It really doesn't. There are scores of new people joining every day, but to see a new user post a craft with a thread that looks professional is rare indeed (no offense meant to new users, I myself was one once) So SQUAD mentions craft on their Facebook page, huh? I'm gonna go take a look real quick...

[Stock] KH-47 Kinchook Helicopter
pTrevTrevs replied to Jon144's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Well, it is a tandem rotor helicopter that can carry significant cargo while still being 100% stock. It's also based on the CH-47 Chinook, which counts for a lot in my book. It's probably my third favorite American helicopter (just behind the Huey and Blackhawk), and whenever I see one fly over it truly is an awesome sight. -
I must confess that I wasn't primarily thinking of promoting new talent, although I would like to point out that I did feature Malaclypse, and with five posts, if he isn't new talent, I don't know who is. I would say the other major point of SCF is to feature the best craft on the exchange (according to the opinion of the OP), and I have done this to the best of my ability and in ehat I believe to be the best format for this sort of thing Does SQUAD itself ever acknowledge exceptional craft other than by having @sal_vager sticky them for the month?
