Is it Tweakscale that does that or are they able to resize on their own? -

A word of advice; Mk3 parts are extremely buoyant for some reason. I tried to make my U-boat (made with some Mk3 parts) to dive, I ended up doubling the part count with all the bitts and the boat only sank a marginal amount. You know, I'm looking at my calendar and I see it's been nearly a year since I first released my Typhoon class submarine. Time sure does fly, and so much has changed since I made it... I wonder if it still works in 1.1. -
I've been hoping to get this game once I find a nice joystick and possibly a head tracker, it looks really fun.

Tested the MiG-15. The good news is that it can fly, the bad news is that it's maneuverability and climb rate leaves me wanting. Does anyone have any reliable information about how the F-86 and MiG-15 performed in real life? I'm not sure whether to focus on turn rate and agility or speed and climb/dive rate. -
The aeroshell flipped backwards so that the end with the docking port was facing the direction of flight. It wasn't enough to cause the ship to burn up (because Duna's "atmosphere" is a joke anyway), but it couldn't slow down enough to let the drogue chutes open high enough to do anything, which also meant the mains deployed too late. I see two option to fix this, since I'm already high on part count and stick fairings are really my only option left. I could spam reaction wheels in an attempt to manhandle the aeroshell in position throughout the entire EDL, I could place a counterweight in the front of the aeroshell to offset the heavy fairing bases, or I could do both. Hyperedit, of course. I don't want to spend nearly an hour (real time) flying a lander to Duna only to have it fail on me because of an easy mistake.

As one of the few people on this forum who have constructed submarines before, I feel I have a duty to let you know what you're getting in to. I would recommend contacting your local priest, pastor (or other prominent figure in your religion) and informing them of what you plan to do, because your free time, personality, and your very soul are all at stake here. You have been warned. Uh... what mod are you using for diving ans surfacing? You said it's an older mod, is it easy to get working in 1.1? -
Not all of them failed. I believe the early probes sent to the Moon had issues, but Pioneer 4 finally made a Lunar flyby in March , 1959. In addition to the Lunar Pioneers, there were probes meant to orbit the sun which were listed under the Pioneer Program, 4 out of 5 succeeded and continued to send data back to earth until the late 1990s. Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 were the first spacecraft to fly by Jupiter and Saturn, respectively, and the Pioneer Venus project sent an orbiter and several impactors to (oddly enough) Venus.

It does look like a good stick, unfortunately there is no way I can afford that, plus a throttle and rudder pedals right now Yeah, this looks like a great choice for the price. It's definitely going on my final selection list. I haven't decided against the Logitech extreme stick yet, but I have heard conflicting reviews about it. Some people (both ones I know and people on the internet) say it's great, others say it's a worthless piece of trash, so I'm not sure about it yet.

I think I may have to "borrow" from your designs again, the fairing on the Ascent Vehicle looks really nice. As for it hanging up, I have no idea what could be causing it, except for the engines not having a high enough TWR at launch, in which case I would recommend putting a few separatrons on the DAV to help it get away from the surface faster. I did the same thing with my Altair, but that was mainly to allow me to run the Ascent Engine at a low enough throttle to avoid melting the Descent Stage.

Does the F-14 carry bombs on its wings? I think it only has hard points on the bottom of the fuselage because of the variable geometry wings. Source: I.. Uh... Flew the Tomcat a lot in Acecombat 4. -

Patience, friend. I haven't even tested it yet. -

@castille7 Here. Notice the red stars on the wings and tail, as well as the title "MiG-15". This is not, in fact, an F-86 Sabre, but rather a MiG-15. -
I've been asking this question myself since I bought the game, back in 0.20. You could use the Outer Planets Mod, although it really depends on just how stock you want to go. OPM won't affect the parts used in the craft, and I think people will be able to run the save without it, and you eill be able to send Cassini and Voyager to the proper planets.

Alright, but does it do anything better than the Logitech or CH joysticks I've already seen? because it appears that the Logitech one (which is the one I'm leaning towards right now) seems to be cheaper and also looks like it has a HOTAS style setup or something similar to it.

I've been wanting to get IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 for a while now, but after taking a closer look it appears that to really enjoy the game I need to fly with a joystick. I used to have a joystick, but it was built for 1990s era computers and thus will not fit into the USB port on my laptop (actually, when I tried to insert the plug I found out that it was actually taller than my laptop). I don't usually ask for advice here, but since a lot of KSP fans are also fans of flight simulators I decided it would be appropriate this time. So, what joystick should I buy? Ideal Requirements Under $60 if possible Works well for various flight sims (I also want to be able to play Rise of Flight and Microsoft Flight Simulator, and using a joystick in KSP itself would be good too) Easy to learn Reliable Has enough buttons to map to different controls Rudder pedals? (or something equivalent to them) Smooth enough to allow precise maneuvering (I know absolutely nothing about joysticks, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were all like this) Recommendations I've already recieved Logitech Extreme 3D Pro CH Products Flightstick Pro And I have one more small question; What other equipment (if any) do I need to really enjoy flight sims like IL-2 and Rise of Flight? I've heard that TrackIR or some sort of virtual reality gear recommended before, but I don't want to spend $200 to play a $10 game if I can help it.

What triggered your interest in spaceflight

I think for me is was back in 2004 when the Mars Exploration Rovers landed. The news was doing a story about it and playing an animation of the landing. I thought it was so cool how they used parachutes and airbags to land on Mars. Today when I watch what I think is the same animation I saw in 2004 (I don't know, there are several of them out there), I realize how bad it looks compared to what we see today, but back then I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Even today, the fact that one of the rovers is still active on Mars when it was originally built for a 90 day mission astounds me. The other things were an animation I saw of the Constellation Moon landing around the same time I saw the MER animation, and one night I was up late and the movie Apollo 13 was on. At the time I didn't know anything about the mission (Hell, it took me about a dozen tries just to spell Apollo correctly when I described the movie to others), but the sort of improvised techniques they used to survive, as well as seeing them float around the spacecraft made me consider being an astronaut one day. -
Ah, I see. This does seem easier than flying the mission, but you will need to fly the intended mission at least once to confirm that it works. Again, pray for help.
-
Wait... are you actually going to fly the missions or just put the satellites in orbit with Hyperedit or put the rockets on the pad for people who download the save to fly the missions themselves? This is sort of confusing, and it seems like any of these options would involve an enormous load of work if you tried to do every single mission ever launched by NASA. To reinforce my claim, here is a list of every NASA mission in alphabetical order. Note that each entry may contain multiple missions (for example, there is only one entry for "Apollo"). Because of this I think it would be safe to say that there are at least twice as many missions as there are entries in this list.

Don't worry, once you have a carrier plane to launch it from the X-15 is easy to do. I did it myself about two years ago, using someone else's B-52. I think doing every single Explorer flight is going to get boring, both for you and your audience, so I would only do one, maaaybe two or three of the most important ones. I would also skip unimportant flights that are essentially repeats of previous ones to keep it exciting and interesting.

You may or may not be I ter dyed in this thread: Unfortunately, a lander in career mode will have a lot more implications than it usually would. I would recommend making a Duna mission in sandbox mode first, then trying in it career. Also if you haven't sent a probe to Duna, do that. It's a lot easier to learn how to fly to Duna by doing several missions, each going slightly farther than the last one (example: flyby probe > orbiter probe > lander probe > lander probe with rover (optional) > sample return probe > crewed mission). Of course, I've never sent anything larger than a small probe lander to Duna myself, so all my advice could be meaningless...
