I did try this solution, but at the time I couldn't get it to do anything. I learned today while in IRC that I can't just type: ckan scan I have to type: mono ckan.exe scan or nothing happens. Maybe it's a linux thing, I don't know. So that had me stumped, however I have tried your solution just now with my newfound knowledge, and it appears to have worked so thanks. edit: On second glance, maybe not so well. Now all my mods are marked AD (autodetected) in CKAN and won't be updated. edit2: So I restored the installed-default file and registry from a backup, ran clean, scan and list and guess what... EVE is still there, despite being completely removed from my Gamedata folder. So I'm back to square one.

Where do I find the log? I tried to install Astronomers pack today, because my EVE install is totally borked and has been for weeks, but I can't get any help here. I can't update it, I can't remove it, If I remove it using CKAN it crashes CKAN. Even if I try and delete it from my GameData folder, CKAN still thinks it's in there. I can't install Astronomers because apparently EVE causes conflicts! It just says: So, where do I find this log?

You didn't prepare for the location of the Mun? We're not covering that. Well, I put a landing leg up against it to see if I could get some free kraken power. Your SSTO Bounces and Barrel-rolls into the VAB and destroys it upon landing.

Things that need fixed before final release

There's a mod for that. *statement above may or may not be true -
116: 'There's a mod for that' is the only acceptable answer to any problem with the KSP user experience. 117: 'Because it would be fun' Is the only acceptable reason for doing anything in KSP.

I currently run 64bit Mint 17 'Maya' with KDE desktop, and I rate it. It seems a lot more lightweight than Kubuntu, and not as bloated. I recommend switching from Ubuntu to Mint. I've been through nearly every distro over the years. Obviously Ubuntu, but I stopped because of the neverending increase in bloatware on install. I use crunchbang for my netbook still, but only because it can't handle anything else. I did like Gentoo, but stopped using it, just because I was exploring other stuff. I tried one recently called 'Bodhi' but it was a bit too much tinsel for me. I have TAILS on a bootable USB which I use if I'm anywhere without my laptop, and have access to a computer, it's great.

Will there be some form of RNG or dice throws to determine outcomes. i.e. How do you prevent someone just making a civilisation of 1337 super droids and saying 'I attack civ (x) and defeat them and eat their brains and steal their powers'? Something like this could be implemented, where civilisations are given a certain number of dice depending on their strengths, and have to make a roll and post a timestamped screenshot. Here is another one, incorporated into a chatroom environment, so rolls can be witnessed and verified. -

[Showcase] Showoff Your Rep-Worthy Crafts

My first functional spaceplane, Macross 1... Needs some refining in a couple of areas, I'm still proud. -
Sure, but deductive *problem solving* could also be trial and error, which is what I said in the first place. Deduction is not based on theoretical information, it's based on removing information that is not beneficial. Try something. That didn't work. Try something else. That method is also 'deductive'... and it's also 'problem solving' albeit not the most efficient method. In any case, I'm still at a loss as to what OP actually wants. There's a plethora of functional craft files available if he doesn't like spending time designing ships, and there's heaps of mods available if he doesn't like spending time to get from (a) to (. It's unreasonable to ask the entire game to be changed because he is too busy or bored to spend time playing it. Especially when what he wants changed is the part of the game that some, myself included, enjoy the most.

In-game documentation/wiki.

I agree that the best way to learn maneuvres is by actually doing them in a tutorial scenario. Basic stuff like how to achieve a stable circular orbit, and maybe a transfer and a landing on a body with no atmosphere.. The other things is that this game is supposed to represent a planet-bound race learning how to get to space isn't it? There's no reason why they would already know 'how to land on EVE' or anything like that. What I personally would like is some kind of thing where you actually have to discover and study planets before you know anything about them. It could be worked as maybe having to first track the planet in the tracking station to learn it's position, size and movement, and then having to deploy a probe in that planets SOI to learn about its atmosphere, gravity etc. and once you have that info it is available to you from then on in the Kerbopedia, and Wehrner Kerban could give you pointers on how he thinks a landing on a body with those characteristics might go. This would add another layer of complexity and realism to the game, as well as providing more information incrementally rather than knowing everything about everything at the start, which is unrealistic and a bit boring. -
I don't know what to say, that's crazy. Are you going to hit Eeloo with a burn that long? How are you accounting for the burn time?

I use Linux solely for everything, and I've never looked back. It was a bit hazardous in 2006, but these days it's slick. Better again if you don't suffer from CLI-phobia, but you rarely need to touch a terminal if you don't want to anymore.
-
I use 100kms as my initial orbit, I build at 250 and I have a refuelling station at 300kms, transfer burns are done from 350kms.

Most ridiculous thing I've read all day.

Jumpy Conics... Any workaround?
KerBlam replied to KerBlam's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Ah yes.. That explains a lot. This craft is a large thing. not exactly wobbly but there's probably a bit of movement. I managed to get it in manually anyway -
Eve - A ground based circumnavigation @ 13 m/s
KerBlam replied to Fengist's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Cool story! That must have taken a lot of patience. Well done for persevering with it, now I never have to It looks like that thingy you have on the moon might be some kind of walker/rover/krakenbait. -
Seems to me if you're getting to orbit with half your fuel you're doing ok.

McComputers.... I used to be a great advocate for Mac, in fact I still have a g4 powerbook which I use very rarely. When they decided to drop the logic boards and go to Intel chips, they lost my respect completely. You can build a better, faster machine at home for a third of the price point, and stick OSX on it (if you want to severely limit yourself to buying proprietary software).. They're made for those who like to sip their cafe lattes and say 'yah, I bought a macbook PRO because I'm like, a pro casual graphic designer in my spare time and you know, like, they're better and you can't get viruses.... plus you know, gestures?'

I had this problem once, not sure why it happens but if you just right-click whatever part is at the front/top of your ship and hit 'control from here' (in flight) it should be back to normal. If you've done that and it doesn't work, then I don't know... fresh install?
