  1. You know what? I like the James Bond films, and, with all those movie replicas circulating around the forums, I felt the need to make a nice little tribute to James. Felt... Now, my horrible building skillz have taken their toll, and I have grown less patient. I hereby nominate this thread to anyone who wants to do the following. From the Books - battleship-grey Bentley 4½ Litre - Mark II Continental Bentley - Aston Martin DB Mark III From the Films - Aston Martin V8 Vantage - Aston Martin V12 Vanquish - Aston Martin DBS - Lotus Esprit and, finally, the legendary Aston Martin DB5. Bonus Little Nellie modified autogyro from the film You Only Live Twice (make it powered, it's impossible to make autogyros in KSP) Extra amazingness if cinematic is made of a KSP dub of the famous Little Nellie aerial showdown with four Bell 47 helicopters (You Only Live Twice). And finally, a last touch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm9cC33kXMA
  2. Question. Can you post some pictures of various places on 10x Kerbin useful for combat simulation? I need to know the quality of the height map on Kerbin. That is due to a challenge I'm doing, will elaborate later.
  3. I'm wondering, are the objects 90377 sedna and V774104 going to be added? Also, are there going to be any NEOs?
  4. That is good, though I will have to cancel the ten point extra score I was about to give you for the Duna elcano; you forfeited it (which I think means that you gave up on it).Your score will be visible on the leaderboard. Now, we just wait for Killakrust...
  5. Finally. SPAddict and Killakrust, please inform me of your attempts' collision velocities and amount of parts broken (SPAddict already informed me of the velocity, but not the broke parts). That way, I can actually give you places on the leaderboard, with stats and descriptions next to your names. Also, SPAddict, please confirm if you're doing this in combination with the elcano challenge, so that I can award you extra points for awesomeness. Please post the link for the elcano challenge if you can, this needs proof.
  6. Tatonf. I know this challenge features more "creative" MER2 landing styles, but, remind me, did Spirit fly? Also MER 2 didn't exactly lithobrake, and the challenge posts themselves deviated a bit from MER 2's actual landing sequence. But that's fine, so long as no one goes overboard with the creativity- the main point is "reenter, crash, survive undamaged".
  7. I'm just going to leave this perfectly good, @killakrust score destroying entry Good... Good... You get the reward
  8. Please specify. When would the height map be fixed?
  9. Drive around, sure. But the main idea of the museum is partially nostalgic, partially informative. For example, I would like to see mission details, screenshots, and ships from my Mun Lab missions, when I only started KSP.
  10. I noticed that the topic of this thread recently ceased to be followed. The topic is not only about "new buildings and locations in KSP", it is more complicated than that. Please read the thread topic.
  11. I need to know this because of a realistic military challenge I am posting on the forums, conducted with RO (and your RSS). Because the challenge will be dependent on tactics and strategy, simulating real-life combat situations in real-life war torn locations (vietnam, Iran, Kuwait...), I have to ask about the quality of Earth's height map. How is it?
  12. Holy... JEHOVAH That was possibly the most amazing landing I've ever seen in ksp. Hold on while I check the speed of touchdown... Approximately 50m/s. That was awesome. If I could land like that, I would do it on every single mission I had, anywhere. *note: I'm actually starting to think up a nice scoring system (other than the crappy one I have in place, currently.
  13. That was awesome. However, you forgot to cut the parachute and drop several hundred meters to the surface. That was the point of the challenge
  14. Spaceplane Addict, keep posting, man! Just need to add a jettisonable roof. When I find out how to create a scoring system, I'll give you extra points for a descent without slowing down before drop.
  15. Hold on, I think I know what you're talking about There is an Extremely tiny island, in the archipelago under the desert, close to the south pole, that I used for testing fighter jets. It was the smallest island in the archipelago.
  16. Hold on, hold on... SpaceplaneAddict, I just read you were using your "Mercenary" 1 Kerb Dune Buggy for the elcano challenge. Here's an offer: if you do this challenge and the elcano challenge at once (provided you meet the terms of both challenges), you will get an extra 100 points and take the badge from Killakrust *menacingly evil laugh... Also, Killakrust, I just realised I forgot to give you the points for a few months. On it. However, I just need to make my scoring system a little more serious and detailed, if I can have help with that.
  17. Oof, I came back and there were several more comments... 1. Yes, all of you can help with the badges. Anybody on/ visiting this thread can say anything about me, and help in any way. 2. Yes. 3. Noice. You know what? How about I'll make this challenge take place on every/ any planet in the Kerbol system. Just, guys, can you please try to suggest me which planet to classify as hard, easy, etc? I'm not much of an expert on the Kerbol planets, and I only use RO anyway. 4. Very nice. Just a few touches: try to remove the airbags, as the challenge is without them. Also, how about making the badge a reference to the amount of uncertainty that players have when playing KSP? Perhaps, let the badge depict a few screaming Kerbals plummeting onto Duna's surface in a breaking-up pod? How about depicting the few Kerbals on the ground, the pod in the background, and a white flag (accepting surrender) with the words "Does this count?" scribbled on it. You get the point. For now, of course, this badge is accepted. *Edit Wait, how do you put the badge onto the thread without it being oversize?
  18. I checked your sig, and... DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE... you gotta do it with that thing... 1. For one thing, I can't make a badge because I don't know how to. 2. "I'm a coward sir." 3. Perhaps JEHOVAH will tell me. *Wink wink, nudge nudge
  19. It wasn't. Yes, I see the monster I have turned into (I did sound a bit evil there). I actually acknowledge the fact that KSP is a peaceful learning tool (for most people), and take back the comment I said previously. It is true, however, that a lot of multiplayer servers will turn very violent just because of the possibility and sheer satisfaction of combat with a creation of your own. Even that, though, can be a source of education when combined with modifications such as Ferram Aerospace Research, as military aircraft have to meet very difficult requirements to meet their needs. That, of course, will never work with stock. Because of stock mechanics and aerodynamics, stock fighter aircraft are merely a matter of "make it fly and shoot." So, war in KSP should not be completely stood against, and, in fact, can be supported in various ways if the advantages of it are thought about (nevermind its uses in NASA). Finally, I expressed my opinion by use of a nice, good, argument. You, on the other hand, should not be to general, flatly rejecting the concept of war in KSP (I also shouldn't have, in my previous stupid comment). The game started out as a peaceful, space-based building game, but it has gradually turned into something more complicated. That is a good, "healthy" (so to speak) change for KSP, and it should not be avoided.
  20. I, frankly, do not even understand why it should be hard to land on Eve with no parachutes, while being easy to land on Kerbin. The atmosphere on Eve is much thicker that Kerbin's, making any landing easier.
