Omg you guys are awesome. That's a really creative way to test the suspension, its not unlike real world proving grounds. That Mad Max build is looking good! The faux big block shoehorned into the back is so funny. It just needs more spikes, wheel armor and the mark of the Immortan Joe before setting out across the post apocalyptic wasteland. As a side bonus I believe the Bus is airworthy. Most of the body is built with airfoils for weight saving, and jump tests exhibited a peculiar ability to stabilise itself in mid air. I'm thinking a few test launches atop an SRB is in order. What kind of engines are used in the hover version? Top Gear would go bonkers over a HoverVan if Clarkson's gang were still in business! Although I just started the work week over here I'll definitely love to play with these incredible modded machines and maybe, we can lay down the framework for a Kerbal car show! I'm thinking if we make a space version, a space bus could have some chance in Spacecraft Fridays, at least as a flying rover for low gravity environments.

Is there a way to get past KSP version on steam.
Goddess Bhavani replied to jackboy900's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I second the thought that new aero is much better than the previous - it's still a bit forgiving when it comes to the stalls and spins department but other than that, everything just about behaves in a manner that's passably believable. And that's more than good enough for a game that's meant to take place mostly in space It actually acts like an old version of Ferram Aerospace and that's high praise. I haven't installed FAR in 1.0.4 and don't intend to, as releasing stock craft is much more rewarding and makes the cool designs more accessible to everyone. -
Welcome to the forums! Saw your modelling progress on Facebook, looking forward to try on some cool rims and whitewalls

LOL @ MRS You just made yourself a Baja Bug there! The KerbalWagen Project continues with the release of the Type 2 Microbus, styled more closely to actual Volkswagen vans this time. I wasn't sure whether to simply, post the VW Bus here or create a new thread, but I had already hit enter on the new thread, oh well! In any case, here are some screenshots of the classic Bus with which to spread peace, joy and freedom, and the KerbalX Link: http://kerbalx.com/pandoraskitten/KerbalWagen-Type-2-Microbus @BlueCanary - I do love that semi truck and lowboy trailer very much! I was wanting to build one of those after constructing the Bus. This way, a Type 2 flatbed can carry a KerbalWagen Mk.1 and the lowboy can carry the Type 2

The KerbalWagen project aims to bring joy through mobility to the masses. Previously released, was the KerbalWagen Type 1 GTE and Spyder convertible that are so compact, you could strap them on a rocket and bring them to the Mun. * * Advertising claim to be tested at future date We continue our campaign of spreading peace, love and joy to the world with the station wagon that both the smallest and biggest in its class - based on efficient compact design and zero-emissions technology the Type 2 Microbus promises clean, easy motoring for up to 8 Kerbals in its standard configuration. With the modular bench seating removed, the Microbus transforms into a spacious cargo van. An improved suspension system allows for brisk off-road travel without the need to invest in expensive and hard-riding oversized reinforced wheels. Gone too, are the restrictive lines of a coupe roofline - the Bus has an airy interior with a central skylight, large windows and two automated side doors that promise a fresh breeze and a pleasant atmosphere. Protip to make your planes look at least 20% cooler
Goddess Bhavani replied to peachoftree's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If I loop the wings all the way around, do I get like, infinite coolness points? The wingtips are endlessly tilted upwards until they form a circle, creating ridiculous performance for a short wingspan design. I heard in real life, the excessive coolness also reduces drag by eliminating wingtip vortices. How cool is that!? (Yes the design flies, surprisingly well. Video here: https://youtu.be/hgf7d8KfZdM -
Plane parts: Do you use them and what for?
Goddess Bhavani replied to Bloody_looser's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Finned or winged payloads require larger wing area on the first stage of a rocket to maintain stability - wings in the right places pretty much makes the design unflippable no matter how unbalanced the stack looks. The new plane wing parts definitely look very nice when applied to rockets, like early generation surface to air missiles, and never-flown winged booster concepts. -
Thanks esinohio Your 'car advertisement' renders for the K-150 Kraptor definitely speeded up development of this short cinematic! It's probably a quirky non-mainstream subject to cover Kerbal automotive activities but having so many roads in KSC++, and seeing it daily, just makes it so tempting to drive around and explore.

Previously I made a short series about low tech space stations, entitled . The series ends with a permanent presence around the Mun with two space stations, one of which deployed two re-usable mini landers, and the other is a monolithic science block. One half of the station will detach and proceed on to Minmus, but without a space transportation infrastructure it would be unwise to push the limits and risk lives. With Level 2 technology now accessible thanks to science gains from the POS missions, the KSC is developing a 2.5m crewed spacecraft slated to launch atop advanced variants of the prototype heavy launcher designs previously used during POS construction. In the below short film, a SRB launcher (R-5-3 comprising 3x Kickback SRBs) sends CCRV-1 on a sub-orbital tourist flight. This capsule differs from standard re-entry vehicles by having aerodynamic guidance vanes at the top to allow for 'hands off' ballistic re-entry while carrying cargo. Sending a 'winged' capsule likewise requires larger wing area on the launch vehicle, resulting in this configuration quite similar to early surface to air missiles. Sub-orbital test flight CCRV-1 successfully detaches from the R-5 SRB Launcher.
-
Moving on from my , I now work on a series of 2.5m crewed spacecraft for deep space exploration. I put the test capsule atop a winged SRB launcher to test handling of a payload with aerodynamic strakes meant to provide stability during re-entry.

This is one of the installation sequences which should work without a hitch - first, I'd like to check if you placed the mod files in the gamedata directory correctly. If they are, then KSC++ should magically appear and make things on the space center screen look approximately 250% more pretty. Oh and I'd like to share that I'm finding KSC++ to be absolutely fantastic driving terrain, and featured it as such in this tiny cinematic here.

This weekend will be housekeeping weekend! Pretty much going to go through various social media accounts, make a facebook fan page, toss up non potato KSP screenshots on Instagram, and I really have to go through my dozens of craft release threads and get them updated. Is it a good idea to have a single 'kitten's space program' hangar thread instead? Oh, where are my manners, here have a pretty screenshot.

[1.1.2] Kerbin-Side (v1.1.0) & Supplements
Goddess Bhavani replied to AlphaAsh's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hi! I'd like to enquire if there's any interest to design and release a Lite version of KerbinSide, as the present "unified" version, while convenient, becomes a whopping 200mb folder in GameData after installation. Putting that into any existing modded install will certainly have unintended consequences so I actually ported my 40+mb KerbinSide setup from 1.0 into my present career save, and it's been smooth sailing ever since. If you're curious, my "lite" folder consists of airfields, helipads, OldKSC and not much else, creating a functional network of terrestrial airports, and a secondary rocket base at OldKSC. The reason for my suggestion is that it's not possible to 'prune' a full installation of KerbinSide as the individual models and texture packs do not come in folder format.- 2,488 replies

NASA publicity stunt - send your name to Mars on the InSight mission
Goddess Bhavani replied to micha's topic in The Lounge
I wonder if NASA would audit the names - I bet there's already a lot of inappropriate stuff or "people that never were" on there, heroes and villians and all on the same disk -
I can't help but think there are a fair number of new parts in 1.0.x that make car design much more attractive. The curved radiator panels and the angled control surfaces, for instance. If you want to take a stab at a VW Bus or share am existing cra, feel free to! The KerbalWagen turned out nicely thanks to BlueCanary's K-150 truck demonstrating use of unusual parts for bodywork, after all.

NASA publicity stunt - send your name to Mars on the InSight mission

There can be only one choice for a one way exploration mission. Here is his boarding pass: -
Greetings. I the purveyor of random nonsense craft and inane rants of not wanting to go into space, decided to spend a couple weeks collaborating with newer craft designers to create completely mundane everyday vehicles like pickup trucks and KerbalWagens. I was for some time contemplating on a retro Need for Speed cinematic, and thought that would go very poorly as since when did pickup trucks and KerbalWagens star in high stakes underground hot pursuits? There isn't even a single carbon fiber panel within 20 years of pickup truck or KerbalWagen development. Everything changed when I posted a couple of 'development screenshot' albums in the two major Facebook KSP groups. One commenter was so audacious as to post a link to a British song, without comment, thinking I would poke at it on my own volition and discover a portal to Narnia or something. Actually, that's exactly what happened, for in the randomness of a single video comment lay the entire working script of my latest short film, ridiculous to the nth degree yet strangely pleasant in its blatant disregard for KSC traffic laws. Enjoy

I seem to have a short KSP attention span.
Goddess Bhavani replied to Goddess Bhavani's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Thanks for the enkouragement everyone :3 I finally did finish the short video I was working on, after spending 2 nights recording small sections of it then seeing how nicely ridiculous the test production turned out went full steam ahead to finish it on the third night and declared it finished at 2am last night. No sleep except for an hour and a half on the subway but 10/10 will burn midnight oxidizer again -
Good News Everyone! Thanks to a more merciful than usual Real Life work schedule this week, I finished "I Like Driving In My Car" earlier than usual. It's intended to be a craft showcase for those of us who find amusement in constructing simple craft with OCD levels of attention to detail! It's quite short and doesn't feature a wide variety of vehicles, as I was constrained by wanting to follow the general pace and 'feel' of a 80s or 90s music video. Oh and it has a great remastered soundtrack too - thanks to a KSP Facebook group member who suggested the titular track by Madness!

G'day, I just happened to finish my ambitious tiny little non spacefaring cinematic ahead of schedule, so I'll share it here before I faint in my pillows for the rest of the day. I'll document it in the proper forums later. It's a collaboration between various newer craft builders and a few good folks from the major KSP Facebook groups out there. The video showcases near-OCD levels of attention to detail in craft construction - sometimes we have the mood to not go into space on purpose
