An update on the progress of the project: I've been doing all the filming I can but unfortunately progress is extremely slow what with the very bad performance of 1.0.5, and the fact that the BD Armory guns rarely fire in unison, shoot off into the sky, or simply refuse to fire 90% of the time. I've gotten to the destruction of Sydney's Bridge but considering i've probably only filmed maybe 30% of the scenes in the movie there is still a lot to go and most certainly there are no promises that I can get any video available for Nov 19 (the 75th anniversary of the battle), but I can promise the release of the craft files. Additionally, it would be greatly appreciated if music for the video could be found. *and I must say, I wish I could work in 1.2, but no such luck. *

The building process is done, and i'm ready to start recording! I've perfected both ship's sinkings and ironed out the problems I was facing earlier like infernal robotics not working (by just using BDA radars to direct guns). The torpedoes seem to be working now for some reason, but Sydney's torpedo tubes seem to have trouble turning, which sometimes happens but might as well start filming anyway. The Sydney does intact sink stern first. Kormoran slowly sinking... And Kormoran exploding... The ships with scatterer.

The HMAS Sydney is almost done; today I attached @kapteenipirk Walrus aircraft onto the HMAS Sydney. To simulate the sinking I've had an action group primed to destroy the keel supporting the front (with the kaboom! mod), and hyper edit in as much water as possible. Sydney still needs some work—it's turrets that have IR rotatrons (so the turrets appear aimed at the Kormoran even though it's not the active vessel) only work sometimes, and often only 1 turret or 3 at a time. I've decided to simulate Kormoran's sinking by a huge bomb and also filing water to the max. Both sadly suffer from the torpedoes from NAS sinking into the water and not moving, which might be because the game version i'm using (1.0.5 because of kerbpaint) does not support it. Overall the project is likely to be able to start soon. -
THE BATTLE BETWEEN SYDNEY AND KORMORAN 75TH ANNIVERSARY PACK This is the central project page for my project to recreate the Battle between these ships that occurred nearly 75 years ago (a sort of movie/recreation whose release i'm aiming for the date of the battle, November 19th, though that may be optimistic and I may fallback on other important dates (such as the finding on Kormoran's lifeboats for example). All the ships are mostly complete, although there are a couple problems to fix before filming. Unfortunately there are problems which are truly beyond my control and I am unlikely to be able to solve. The ships are modded and while the vessels in the "film" so to speak use welded parts so i'm uncertain of their usability, but you can get their unwelded version below! KORMORAN The HSK-8 Kormoran was originally launched as the "Stiermark" but was acquired by the German Navy and converted into a disguised merchant raider which disguised itself as a merchant ship and was used for commerce raiding. The Kormoran sank 68,000 tons of shipping during its time in the ocean before fighting the HMAS Sydney. It was scuttled following the battle, in which it managed to sink the far more powerful HMAS Sydney. Progress on the ship-It is essentially done! Unfortunately due to the version of KSP i'm running 1.0.5 (for the reason of Kerbpaint working in that version for OS X), the NAS mod torpedoes just sink. Occasionally on launch the ship sometimes suffers failures on launch. She was headed toward Fremantle when she encountered the Kormoran. Since the last update, I was able to paint the HMAS Sydney, and I also worked on the small boats of both Kormoran and HMAS Sydney. I welded them and they came out appearing perfect,(although I obviously cannot paint them part by part) and in fact the Kormoran's motor boat actually moves well. I also welded (using the welding mod) the crane aboard Sydney, and also welded the rigging aboard Cormorant, which helped reduce part count quite a bit. I also removed some parts on the Sydney that I deemed unnecessary (tiny details, some struts that emulated the rigging). I also tried to weld the torpedo tubes on both ships but only the "barrel" part of the tubes came out well, so I could only weld part of it, which allowed some part reduction but not as much as I hoped. Still, the past few days have been a success, reducing parts and adding big details and letting me prepare for filming the actual battle scenes The painted HMAS Sydney in almost all of it's glory I painted the boats a grey color, which i figured would serve as the best "general color" for the boats (although if you disagree, please point out what color might be better) Kormoran's little boats (also if you are wondering why my ships have names like "Kormoran 18", it's because that's how many craft files I have of the ship (so if my latest one gets corrupted I could quickly revert to an earlier one) -

I managed to get Kormoran working in KSP 1.0.5 (So I could use Kerbpaint on my MacBook Pro) although the Infernal robotics part that lets the torpedo tubes gets badly messed up most of the time. I was able to paint the Kormoran (though I had to guess the paint scheme on a couple parts). Overall it is fine, but I wonder if it will be able to operate with HMAS Sydney. -

I took the HMAS Sydney out for a spin and everything is working well - except for the fact that when I launch the torpedoes, 50% of the time they explode when they hit the water. This was not happening when I tried it earlier, so I will have to do more testing to find the cause. Turning the tubes into position Releasing the tubes, and having a bit of the custom torpedo tube explode A huge explosion as the torpedo explodes when it hits the water. Sometimes it does moderate superstructure damage to the area around it, other times it almost completely wipes the middle superstructure and heavily damages the hull too. Another major problem I face is whether to use Kerbpaint or not. Right now my 1.0.5 seems to act very weird, and I don't know if 1.0.5 can handle the load of the two ships even if I fix it. I certainly don't know if Kerbpaint will get updated to 1.2, or if it will work on OS X. Any input on what to do would help. (I should set up a thread for the ships soon.) -
Other KSP projects have somewhat prevented me from updating frequently, but here is the tenth episode of The Asteroid Sentinels Series 7! This one explores the bizarre opinions of some kerbals, some who think it is a total lie and a coverup, others believing that the nuclear payload is too dangerous? Will this delay the launch?! Give me your reaction and feedback, it would be extremely helpful to have some! Ask me any questions you have about the comic, and give some constructive criticism!

I've practically finished HMAS Sydney and Kormoran, all there is left is some painting and potential welding of the torpedo tubes and cranes I installed on the two ships. I placed all the guns aboard both ships, added the seaplane crane to the HMAS Sydney, finished the rigging, installed custom built torpedo tubes (so the turret had the correct amount of tubes), and covered up the armaments on Kormoran in the way it really did using Infernal Robotics. (With sliding doors for armaments on the side which concealed the ship and had the deck guns covered up with a hinge mechanism) The sliding mechanism in motion A closer look on the torpedo tube doors and the guns on the deck Torpedo Launch A closer look on the HMAS Sydney's torpedoes This shot shows the seaplane crane, and if you look closely, you can see the AA guns (there was no "stacked" quadruple turret AA gun, so I just took 4 single turret ones and stacked them on top of each other! -

The HSK Kormoran has been worked up very much, I'm about 85-90% complete with the ship, as there are a couple mechanism for the screens in front of the armament, actually choosing the best armament, placing said armament, and several other things (Painting the ship? Don't know how Kerbpaint on a Mac will work in 1.2) are still left to do. The ship turns and moves quite well. I will probably work on the HMAS Sydney to finish the ship. -

HMAS Sydney's main details are complete! The part count is around 630 parts! All that is left to do is to fully arm the ship, and small details and rigging. The ship reaches 16.8 M/s, around the actual speed of the warship. The next job is to build the cranes aboard Kormoran, and in general get Kormoran to the same state as HMAS Sydney. Then I plan to complete the ships completely, and start an all 'round project thread. The project is moving at suppressing fast progress for a warship project.HMAS Sydney as a moving ship needs some fixing, like adding electric generators, moving the boilers to the correct area, making sure that the warship's "navball" orientation is correct. -

HSK Kormoran's main superstructure is 80% done, with some small details and to back half of the first floor. (Where one of the guns are located.) I've reached 400 parts, which is pretty good compared to my other projects at this stage. Next will be HMAS Sydney's main superstructure bits, and then the other details on the ships. (Like the many cranes on Kormoran for example.) -

The hull of the HMAS Sydney is complete! This version of the HMAS Sydney is capable of 17.7 M/s, making it faster than the real ship! Now for the superstructure! (The bridge is a quick temporary installation of course.) -

Recently in The Asteroid Sentinels I've been focusing on Jeb and the crew in general. However like I did when I first unveiled the asteroid, I want to sort of bring up what the many other "non-KSC/Space" people have to say. The problem is that I even though I think it would be cool to do it, I don't know if it serves any "purpose" especially to the mission itself. I'm also wondering how I might do world building and character development. Right now i'm sort of wondering what direction to take my characters toward. I had a rather large moment for Jeb, and that he (might) have learned better than to make bold rash decisions, and I can apply that to the future, but I wonder where to take the other characters in my story, (that are pretty likely to fly on the asteroid mission), Bill and Valentina. Another problem is that I fear the story sometimes just falls into a lengthy debate, that while gives lots of info and reveals something about the kerbals, that in the end it's just a page lengthener and that it just prevented "showing" and just amplified the telling of the story. There's also an idea that might be good to play with, which is world building. The problem is how to do it, and if its actually necessary or useful to the current story. I've felt that there hasn't been much of a sense of culture or what kerbin really is like. Edit-Do you think that the conversations seem "unnatural"? -

Here's the progress over the past two days: I completed the hull for the Kormoran, modifying the hull so that torpedo and gun systems had a place to shoot. The guns work fine, although they pop through the deck sometimes. Here it is in the VAB. For this project i've gone for a bit of a different process, one where I get to one step of construction, and then proceed to work on the next ship and get it to the same level, and so on. That is why i'm working on the hull of the HMAS Sydney now. Below you can see some of the hull frames I use to guide hull construction, though the following is only about a 1/3rd of the ship. (If you haven't guessed i'm planning on a pack to recreate the battle between Kormoran and Sydney.) -

I've started a new project up over the weekend, and its another warship replica! The name is currently a secret, anyone mind guessing what ship it is? (Title on top is a clue...)Here it is in the SPH in 1.0.5, the front is on the right. Unfortunately the ship seems to just straight up fall apart, which is why I am using KSP 1.1.3 in the test shot. -
Series Seven's Ninth episode is out! Jeb has to make a decision, one that will change everything... He stands at a crossroads. Also, a report from our kameraden Wernher von Kerman! Please give any ideas, criticisms, comments, and other sorts of things in the thread! It helps me learn and improve for a better next episode!

Messed around with my space shuttle+Galileo creation, and it exploded on the pad... However I turned on unbreakable struts and once it actually worked fairly well except the gravity turn was too quick. Even with warship struts the ship seems to really flop around... I'll probably check the no Galileo version to see if it is flawed. Flop, flop... -

I've gotten my ships all in working order in 1.1.3, although this sadly doesn't mean much because of Kerbapint not working on OS X. However, today I decided to do a not too serious (as in not cramming in every bit of detail and precision) build of a F2H Banshee. I used stock parts (Tweakscaled engines), and BDA. While I did have a version with Juno engines, it was way to weak for any weapons (Even this setup has some trouble). It manages around 250 M/s. It's around 60 parts with all the equipment. Battleship sighted! (My Bismarck in 1.1.3). Bombs hit! (Unfortunately the Texture Replacer Kerbal head textures were a bit messed up at the time). Tell me what you think, I might try to optimize it for release. Also, for the near-future I may work on fixing my Galileo-Space Shuttle project that has been sadly put away for months in 1.0.5. I may even try to start my next (planned) naval project, Kormoran Vs Sydney. (I did consider Sinking of PoW and Repulse, but considering how complicated it would be to handle so many aircraft and especially the fact that I might have to rebuild the PoW's hull make it seem somewhat unenticing.) -
Our Kerbals are back on Kerbin! Of course, for those of you who haven't read the posts above, I have provided a explanation of our good friend the Bootstrap paradox. Now one of those kerbals is Jedediah Kerman, and he must cope with what happened... So what will Jeb choose as his destiny? Also, what is that thing in the distance? DISCLAIMER: We do not know if the Kerba-Lisa has any relation, or is in fact the member of Kuzzter's Kerbfleet. After all, we do not know if trans-universal time travel is a thing... Also: For the landing of the space shuttle, I wouldn't have found it successful, after even very shallow angles caused overheating and burning up. (Should have had radiators). I had to make a ~1000 M/s D/V burn to land, and this was at a very steep angle. The landing itself happened only because this ship has jet engines.
