Dunno) - Adjusted tiling for every planet - Adjusted albedo for every planet - Adjusted contrast for every planet The terrain portion of the changelog is tiny but it has the biggest changes on the planets. So, yeah Well done for reading this far by the way, it's probably incredibly boring. I spent the longest time on the terrain textures, bloody difficult they are! - Visuals: - Re-enabled spherical mesh for some scatterer bodies since it would cause the clouds to light up in the dark - Created a 16k cloud texture and two 8k textures for main clouds - Created 3 gas giant textures for Gateway and Janus - Created aurora textures for Gateway, Rhode, Tau, etc - Optimization: - Removed unused scatters - Removed unused textures - Removed unused MTL files - Reduced some biome map resolutions - Enabled GPU Instancing for scatters, but unsure if it works or not. Better performance for low end CPUs - Reduced layer volume for EVE clouds and increased the size instead - Reduced some planets' scatter render distances - Other: - Added installation checker. Source code on Github because SkWoD SAyS So - Added new Skybox Thank you for downloading Beyond Home, and for getting this far down the changelog. If you have any issues, contact me on the KSP forums as "Gameslinx", or Discord as "Gameslinx#0544". Enjoy Beyond Home! Quick PS: If you have problems downloading the update when it's fresh, please let me know! I ran the update past my beta testers, but there is a chance I could have messed up in the release. Thank you!
  2. I plan to release BH for 1.8.1 in the next few days. The changelog is already 300+ lines long and I need a break, I've been at it non stop for 7 months! 1.9.0 will come later after problems have been ironed out, but I'll have my work cut out for me again unfortunately
  3. I have some gripes with the terrain textures 1.8 introduced a new terrain shader, and now there's another one. A lot of people who work on planets spent weeks updating to the shader introduced in 1.8, and their work is now null and void now that the 1.9 update introduced a superior one Secondly, this new shader requires another map to function. To work effectively it'll need to be at minimum 2048 x 1024 for large planets if the shorelines are to be accurate. For mods like JNSQ built at a large scale, these maps will need to be much larger Surely there wasn't a better way to implement this shader? I'd be happy with an altitude curve. Or, alternatively, use the biome maps that already correspond to regions on the terrain and lerp between those regions? Or use a colour range on the colour map, such that you can set a grass colour for the grass terrain texture, and a desert colour for the desert terrain texture As much as I like the changes coming to the terrain (which we've needed for a while) I just don't think this is the way forward. I've read through the "for modders" documentation on how to use it, but I'm not convinced it is an effective use of large amounts of system resources. The ram requirement will go up by 20% for a planet mod with 4 maps already if this is the same resolution... Please please please clarify if I've gotten anything wrong. I do want to use this shader and it has massive potential, I think the implementation is just a little off!
  4. A sneak preview of some of the terrain you will be able to encounter now...
  5. A bunch of planet pictures without visual mods installed! I know I've neglected the folk who were unable to run scatterer and EVE, so at last here is my love for you guys:
  6. It works on 1.8.1 if you use the updated versions of Kopernicus and Scatterer. I'll be bringing it up to date properly soon
  7. I've decided to do some big improvements to the planets if you don't have visual mods installed. Thanks to @JadeOfMaar he's put together some amazing Sunflares that work without Scatterer or EVE. I've spent some time remaking the atmosphere rims for people who don't use visual mods so that you guys can enjoy the planets as close to their scatterer counterparts as much as possible! There are no visual mods in these pictures:
  8. I don't know. I don't use Rescale, it might be better to read up on the documentation, or ask for help in the mod thread
  9. Some of them haven't been added yet. You need to make sure your scatter density is at 100%. Then, you need to find then on the planet. Stuff like floating islands on Hydrus are easy to find, near the mountains.
  10. Yes, Beyond Home 1.3 will be on GitHub and Spacedock. I'm still unsure about ckan because some people are having issues with it, and I have my reasons for disliking ckan, but yes - you'll be able to get BH 1.3 on GitHub first.
  11. Do you mean support for KEX? I can but it isn't out for 1.8 yet so I can't test it.
  12. Something big is coming New sunflares that actually show the stars in all their glory!
  13. It's teaser / wallpaper time again! Cities and crashed ships coming soon
  14. I'm still learning how to use Adobe Illustrator, which is what people use to make the DV charts, but there is one planned
  15. 0.054 should work - Did you download via CKAN? I might need a KSP.log if you can send it. Thank you! If you downloaded through CKAN, try manually installing it
  16. The Lua base works again thanks to a Kerbal Konstructs update! I've completely redesigned the base and reduced the costs for opening its facilities.
  17. To those reading this far into the forum - What are you most excited for in BH 1.3?
  18. I'm going over some of the Kerbol system planets and bringing them up to scratch. This is Tylo!
  19. I'm waiting on Kopernicus to update. I'm not the person to ask because it's 100% out of my control. 0 planet mods work on 1.8.1 but this will be updated as soon as Kopernicus is released for it. You need a scientist on board and you need science data physically inside the lab. It works fine for me on my orbital station around Ash, but I'm not a massive expert
  20. I just released an update that improves the sunflare, fixes the scatterer rim on Solitude, and fixes all the wrong terrain texture file paths. Enjoy! There will be improvements after this, such as 1.8 terrain, when I find the motivation
