  1. sigh A little more specific, please?
  2. I still have no idea why we can only transfer our purchase to Steam if we made it before a certain date. I've only seen one answer, but it wasn't official and was very vague. @KasperVld
  3. "The pre-release branch will be opt-in via Steam only, and won't be available via the KSP Store." REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
  4. You spilled coffee on your keyboard and caffeine got injected directly into the Kraken's bloodstream. It's the only explanation.
  5. It's definitely not dead. Just sleeping. It's alarm clock is set to go off Soon(TM)
  6. I'm gonna try this. I've been playing for nearly a year, it's time that I finally man up and attempt an Eve return mission. I already have a plan. So, first I'm going to send an extremely overkill lander that will aerobrake down to a circular.... wait [screaming internally] Skip the aerobraking, I'm just going to use an oversized LV-N transfer stage with enough fuel to circularize at Eve. So that's covered. I have a feeling this is going to snowball very quickly. Wish my CPU luck. E: I think this is gonna have to wait. I can't get the 100 part lander through re-entry. I almost did once but the game crashed so hard I had to restart my PC. I don't want to copy someone else's lander design, that's what's hanging me up right now.
  7. What's the difference between =/= and != I see them used pretty much interchangeably (Pls quote me in your response so I get a notification)
  8. I think it's justified. They mentioned it in the devnotes as a feature that is going to be in 1.1 with no small amount of certainty. I'm sure they've tested it pretty extensively by now. I'd suspect the experimental team is gonna torture test it further when they get their hands on it.
  9. I only have 1 successful SSTO design, a Mk1-size long range one. 4600 m/s left once in orbit. The limiting factor for me is the LV-N's terrible TWR. It can go to and return from Duna but lifts off of Duna with a TWR of 0.9, luckily it has a VERY light wing loading.
  10. I'm 747483739^50% sure I'm going to be ninja'd. QA: small group of devs (~10) work on getting rid of obvious bugs and game balance Experimentals: a much larger (a hundred or so) group of people play the game and test it until their computers beg for mercy. Usually lasts a few weeks, but varies depending on the scope of the update. They report their findings on bugs, game balance issues, and give general feedback. Also when the Hype Train leaves the station.
  11. Well, they DO know what's in pre-1.1 saves. All the software has to be able to do is interpret old saves and re-compile them into 1.1 saves. I'm pretty confident it will work as advertised. Now, if you're using lotsa mods...
  12. But the air is super thin right? Unless 70 m/s is a measure of equivalent dynamic pressure, in which case, yeah the rocket would be toast.
  13. So if I understand this correctly, Falcon 9 will send the satellite as high as it damn well can, and the sat's onboard propulsion will finish the insertion into GTO and then into GEO? How far will the upper stage be able to send the satellite? Just above LEO? 90% of the way to geo transfer orbit?
  14. If you're OK with (and know how to) install mods there are TONS of them with similar goals in mind. Two relevant favorites of mine: TAC life support makes surface base/space station resupply missions mandatory. Of course, it adds a fair bit of difficulty so it's not for everyone. Kerbal Attachment/Inventory System allows for in-depth EVA's. You can add, remove, or replace parts on the fly (ha ha). It adds functionality only, so it won't effect anything unless you actually incorporate it into your mission. (I love this combo because it makes resupply missions much more involved) There are a multitude of mods based around surface outposts, many of which are compatible with TAC life support, if you wish to go that route.
  15. Click through is still here, albeit Soon(TM) to be killed by 1.1. Easiest way to show it is to move the VAB camera so your rocket runs from the top to the bottom of the screen. Then, edit the description. This happens to me pretty often, especially when working on big rockets.
  16. Is the next episode coming Soon(TM)? If it is uploaded today that means a SpaceX launch, Devnotes, AND Alexandria all within 24 hours of each other
  17. I have an ill-informed question: Are you setting the planet as a target If you are and can't see the close approach markers, try tweaking the normal/antinormal (triangle icons) on the maneuver node until your ascending or descending node are where your orbit intersects the target's orbit. [Ignore this, I misread the OP]
  18. Save breaking? In a game that's post-1.0? Blasphemy! According to the devnotes the game will update save files to the new format automagically. [1.1 hype intensifies]
  19. I've heard many ideas on what is under the obviously flat Kerbin. I have a theory. You look at a Kerbal's head, what do you see? A cylinder. What's on top of a cylinder? A disk (!!!) I'm proposing that we are, in fact, standing on a Kerbal's head. Turbulence, random ground-based Kraken attacks: all caused by the Kerbal sneezing! But who is this Kerbal? Where are they? What are they doing? Obviously, this is the leader of another Kerbin, just as flat as our own. We don't feel his movements very often because he simply basks in a massive throne (paid for by funding going towards the "space program") overseeing his dystopian society, expertly manipulating it to fit his greatest desires. (Could somebody take one of the images of Earth sitting on a turtle and replace the turtle with a Kerbal's forehead?)
  20. They got to the point of ignition, my guess is they have to check out the engines to make sure they're ready to go again.
  21. Not my video This was made in pre-1.0. To do it now you'd need an even bigger, actually aerodynamic rocket that can aerobrake without exploding.
