  1. Here is my submission. I sent 10 landers to Tylo so +5(10). I forgot to land one of the Kerbals (Bill went twice) so +4.5 and I did it in 1 launch so +10. This makes my final score 64.5 points.
  2. The Bulk Landers Challenge The Challenge: Take as many landers to a certain celestial body and land them on the surface then return them to the transport stage in orbit. The amount of Kerbals on board counts, but is nerfed so someone doesn't send a single lander with many many kerbals and take all the points. The idea is to get the most landers though. Unfortunately it may come down to who has the biggest computer/ attention span to continue landing the landers. The Rules: - All landers must carry atleast one Kerbal to the surface of said celestial body and back to the main ship. The use of the EVA pack is allowed but cannot be the only propulsion taking the Kerbal to the surface. All kerbals need a lander. NOTE: The landers do not need to be single stage. - No cheats such as hack gravity, infinite fuel or set orbit. You must actually fly them there. - Multiple launches are allowed, no need to crush budgets or framerates. - Landers may not be reused - No part clipping of functional parts such as (batteries, fuel tanks, reaction wheels, crew compartments, solar/radiator panels, fuel cells, chairs), however it is allowed to clip structural parts. - Return all Kerbals to Kerbin safely. - Every landing must be proved by a flag. - Relay networks are optional. - Re-entry heating must be set at at least 100% - Information mods, alarm clocks and graphics mods are allowed. - No ISRU - No docking to other vessels after leaving Kerbin's SOI unless it it the lander docking to the mothership. This rule is so you don't send a fuel tanker out the the planet/moon and refuel there. - Landers do not need to be recovered, only the Kerbals do. - All landers must leave Kerbin on the same vessel. Scoring: The landers will receive a certain amount of points based on the celestial body they landed on. Kerbin does not count are a destination, go somewhere else. - Laythe landers receive +5 points per lander (+7 points if the landers land on solid ground) - Eve landers receive +20 points per lander - Tylo landers receive +5 points per lander - Vall and Eeloo landers receive +3 points per lander - Mun, Ike and Dres landers receive a +2 points per lander - Bop, Pol, Gilly and Minmus receive +1 point per lander - Duna landers receive +4 points per lander - Moho landers receive a +6 per lander - Every Kerbal landed and returned to Kerbin will receive +.5 points - To find the score for the number of launches take the number of launches and divide 10 by that number. (For example if you had 4 launches divide 10 by 4 to get 2.5 and that's the amount of points you receive. - At least 2 landers must be sent. Submission Rules: These will get interesting.. - If you are taking screenshots be sure to document each landing and flag well, submit in a folder/ imgur album so the thread doesn't get clogged with hundreds of screenshots. - If you are filming a video be sure to document well and cutting repetitive parts is allowed but still document the landing and return to orbit. - If you submit and it is accepted no matter how low the points are you a winner and will be put in the winner board below. Tips - CHECK YOUR ORBIT HEIGHT. In My submission my mothership almost slammed into Tylo's tallest mountain, it only missed by about 30 meters. Make sure for your ship's and your Kerbal's sake that your orbit is stable and safely above any mountains. - Use fairings. To reduce part count I suggest not using a structural rig but rather the 3 meter fairings with interstate nodes for smaller landers. These keep the landers firmly attached and aren't as wobbly or part consuming at an exoskeleton-type structure would. - Always pack a solar panel or RTG. Getting caught without power sucks and using f12 to fix it isn't allowed. Winners - @JacobJHC Video submission 10 Tylo Landings, 1 launch, only landed 9 Kerbals, one went twice - 64.5 Points @max_creative Made it. Let the lag spikes and crashes missions begin.
  3. Awesome! Even if you don;t get below the 3 tons please submit the best one you have, it may stir up some ideas for future landers or share a different style of building.
  4. That depends, since orbital velocity is about 2100 m/s at 11800 meters (one of the lowest safe orbital heights since the tallest mountain is about 11300m tall) you need 2100 to kill horizontal speed, a bit more for landing it and taking off again and a final 2100 to get it back into orbit. I always aim for 5k of delta-v for my Tylo landers but it can be done with less if you are super efficient. Although the video submission I had used the tall mountain to save fuel so you would need to either select a landing sight or give it enough extra fuel to land at lower altitudes.
  5. Oh my gosh that is my favorite video of yours. I did not know before I watched this a few months ago that this was even possible. This inspired me to scale up my Jool 5 ship into a Grand Tour ship and now I am almost finished. This lander is absolutely relevant. Side Note: Do you think the Odyssey By Bill will ever incorporate the outer planets mod? I would love to see Bill drag a few hundred Kerbals out to Tekto in an SSTO.... That sounds like a neat challenge, I will make a thread for it and link you to it.
  6. YES! When I had to do the 10 Tylo landings for my 10 sub special the first few were fun but the next 7 were so boring.
  7. @Ultimate Steve I added both of your entries to the participants board. i really enjoyed your video. If you do decide on the 48 landers video I wish you luck, if each one is 10 parts and you send 48 that's 480 parts dedicated to the landers. RIP framerate.
  8. Sounds like a competition then, last time I checked I had the record for the most Tylo landers per mission.... Well, if you do I can't wait to see it lol
  9. I have a few more for you This was my first submission and since then my SSTO capabilities have gotten much better. What I have for you today are my Ike, Gilly and another Minmus SSTO. Heck in the future you might see a Pol/Bop SSTO. Well that's all for now, I hope these meet the necessary requirements to be included in the submission area under my name.
  10. Who can make the Smallest Tylo Lander? Size doesn't matter if the delta-v is sufficient I have seen many videos made by many famous KSP youtubers such as HOCGaming, Scott Manley and Enter Elysium. In their videos where they have gone to Tylo their landers have been rather large in size, so my challenge to you is to build the smallest lander (in terms of mass) that can land on Tylo and have the kerbal return to orbit. Rules - No mods unless they are informational mods such as KER - The only other mod exception is mods to teleport your lander to Tylo orbit. - The lander doesn't have to return to orbit, only the kerbal so using the EVA-Pack is allowed. - No cheats such as unbreakable joints, no crash damage, infinite fuel or other cheaty things. Submissions - Videos are preferred but screenshots work just fine. - Be sure to document all staging and the final landing. - If there is drama such as a low TWR or jetpacking into a stable/safe orbit please document that as well. - All submissions need to have their crafts mass included by a screenshot from inside the VAB with the craft info window up Completionist/Leader Board Anyone who participates in the challenge will have their name put on the leaderboard along with their craft's mass and a basic summary of the lander. Participants: - @JacobJHC Video Submission, Screenshot of mass in Imgur, no fuel lines - 2.251 Tons - @Ultimate Steve Screenshots, offcenter decoupler - 2.13 Tons - @Ultimate Steve Video Submission, Entertaining video, excessively good use of EVA pack - 1.9 Tons - @Nefrums Screenshots from a low mass Jool 5 mission, no electric charge lander, use of jet pack to achieve orbit. - 1.17 Tons - @EvermoreAlpaca Video submission was a grand tour, recovered the lander back to Kerbin, single stage - 5.125 Tons - @n.b.z. Imgur submission used priority settings to remove the need for fuel lines, used a single spark engine. Nice comments on the Kerbal's feelings. - 1.938 Tons
  11. I watched a video about a tiny Tylo lander that weighed about 1.5 tons. I tried to see if I could build somthing similar to match my need for a lander and I ended up with a 2.5 ton rocket-powered lawn chair. I put the video I based it on in the description I really suggest watching it.
  12. Recently I've tried to film KSP videos for my youtube channel: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCrQoc98h6uc60ZEf6rx0SQQ But besides that I have tried to make a video on a Minmus Relay for my refueling base there but when I film the launch I do not get a video rather a slideshow once the atmo effects start. A good example of the lag problem is the launch of this rocket here: You don't need to watch the entire video, you can if you want but the launch is the main slideshowish part. Does anyone have any ideas on why it does this? I didn't put this under the question forum because this is not a question relating to the game but a seperate filming thing called OBS Studio.
  13. How about 441.5 tons to orbit using this launch stage?
  14. I myself have completed the Jool 5 challenge and think your idea of stowing the mothership in between Tylo and Vall is really smart, not only can the landers fairy there and save fuel but you could use Tylo for an assist out of Jool to save even more fuel. Good luck with the rest of your challenge.
  15. Well, 1.1 has been fun so to celebrate it I decided to send a crew of 2 out to Minmus using an SSTO. Hope you all enjoy.
  16. I swear to god I finally have an Eve lander and could of had a working Grand Tour ship ready in the next few months and then BAM probe telemetry. Now I need to bring a relay with me, I'll just pack more xenon. I also have what should be a smaller version of my original submissions's ship working which I will likely use as a relay satellite once the Jool 5 segment is completed.
  17. When my planes take off the landing gear explode for no reason at all when they reach the end of the runway. They are not being pushed down when the plane lifts off since it drives straight off the end. Does anybody know a solution to this problem? I didn't put this in tutorial/questions because it won't be answered. Thanks if you have a solution or tip.
  18. Nicely executed, I like how you simply dropped the Vall lander and flew past while Val conqoured Vall. Your Laythe aerobrakes were also rather ballsy if I may say so myself. Congratulations on joining the Jool 5 Completionist Club.
  19. My base is not holy, it's crews religion, unknown.
  20. My videos do not misuse any terminology. Let's take my Ike SSTO for example, I have built a craft that can go from the surface of Ike to Ike orbit using only 1 stage, however I also delivered it to Ike's surface by using fuel from that same stage meaning it could qualify for several different terms such as Ike SSTO or Kerbin SSTO.
  21. You are a noble kerbal and clearly fight for your cause. I usually find the Kraken to be rather enjoyable and want to find a kraken drive for the current version however, I got revenge that day to avenge the ship in the video. But I cannot deny that the ship being attacked ultimately led to me bettering my technology to where it is today. It's a gruesome vengeance but with moderate respect.
