  1. *Ahem*. This thread is "What Did You Do In KSP Today" not "What Didn't You Do In KSP Today". I know how you can solve your problem!
  2. Started a Career save, got some science, unlocked some engines and tanks, sent Jeb to orbit, used tiny amount of remaining fuel to run my orbit through the atmosphere, ran out of fuel, collected science, engaged in 7 painstakingly slow aerobrakes, almost fell off my chair and died, almost put on infinite fuel, rocked back and forth under my table, almost threw my laptop out the window, FINALLY dipped fully through the atmosphere, engaged chutes, landed, recovered vessel, and got 49.5 science. I went through all of that. For 49.5 science. Couldn't it have been at least 50...?
  3. Sweet dude. I was just checking out your mods on Spacedock. Nice work!
  4. I feel like I'm missing out on SpaceY... It looks like such a good mod, but I've been using KW Rocketry for years, and I don't want two massive part packs. Which is the better mod? In other news, Val took a 5km round journey to inspect the suspected life support module. All that was left were some small capsules of food, water and oxygen and the oxygenator. I felt like there was no point using KAS to move this thing metre by painful metre, so I instead stocked up on all the life support I could grab and flew back to the cockpit. The rescue mission is due to launch tonight atop the brand new SLS Lite. It has a ton of delta V to toss around and the rescue vehicle will comfortably land on Duna, take off, land on Ike (to deposit any extra science) and return to Kerbin hopefully hassle free.
  5. Hmm... You can make stock hinges, but it would be very chunky and difficult to use. You might have to allow for a mod like Infernal Robotics which adds servos and motors. It would still be very tricky to get the balance right and I love the idea of the challenge! Welcome to the community
  6. I flew my Razorshuttle SSTO to Duna last night. It went perfectly; took a gravity assist from Ike to pull me into a suspiciously circular orbit around Duna and proceeded to slowly drop my orbit lower. I aerobroke through the atmosphere, dropping my periapse to 30,000km. I then dived fully into the atmosphere, dropping from orbit completely and proceeded to not get any reentry heating and glide slowly to the surface. I couldn't see through the sandstorm, and a mountain got in the way. My spaceplane was torn into pieces, with debri flying everywhere. The cockpit survived, and I used the vernor thrusters on the bottom to slow my fall. I hit the ground and slid down a hill, where Val, Jeb, Bill, Samantha, Scott and Luna Kerman are awaiting rescue. I'm thinking of searching for the life support module, as I saw it fly off and land about 2.4km away. The cockpit only has about a years worth of life support, so I'll have to scramble one of my life support delivery bots from my surface base on Ike to the crash site to give them a little longer. I'm already working on a rescue mission. Things is, the closest transfer window will take just over a year, so it'll be tight. That means minimal testing, and that's what I do best!
  7. Can you supply a craft download? That thing is way cool, and I'd love to try to fly it!
  8. Sure, sure. Just, Ah... A checkup might be wise...
  9. Tell me about it. I ripped my (very expensive) tanker plane and a wing of F-15's to pieces after the lead fighter spontaneously tore apart midair, sending pieces of debri slamming into the other planes in the wing. That pretty much caused a chain reaction of detonating planes and ammunition, killing everything except my humble little F-16. It was trailing behind and I managed to dodge a few pieces of debri before peeling off and flying back to the KSC. I (very stupidly) invested a ton of money into those planes for research and after that my career save went bankrupt and I had to (shame on me) cheat some money in. That taught me to try things out in Sandbox before fast tracking them to my career save. Geez, this could go under mission reports... Anyways, I need to try this!
  10. I'm pretty sure that Kerbnet's ability to see different anomalies changes each time the SoI changes. So 30 different probes (might be a little overboard) would see different anomalies to each other (some would detect an anomaly that another might not). I might be wrong, but thats what I remember
  11. I made the final adjustments to my new heavy lifter. It was pretty much fine on the first flight, but improvements can always be made! Since KSP has no props and i really couldn't be bothered making any, I used Jet engines and christened it the C-140 Super Hercules (real imaginative, I know). I'm currently flying it to the North Pole, and after landing and taking off agin from Keurope(?), I decide to have a final rest stop before commencing the final leg of the journey. Samantha Kerman spotted a flat area suitable for landing, and Val banked down towards the ground. I went to open my landing gear, and of course it reckons that they can't be deployed because they were stowed (yet it worked every other time). So instead I just banked a little further West and landed in a lake, safe and sound! Now I'm figuring out how to land on the ice with only my forward landing gear... Maybe I should make a big tray and make it move at the same speed as the descending plane. Then I'll touch down (very) slowly into holder and brake with the tray... But that's just an idea. Does anyone have any ideas? Duna kinda looks like play-dough... Sweet looking plane, too! I'm a sucker for fixed gear craft.
  12. @i like turtles I know how you feel! My Harrier was constantly side-slipping and I messed with Weight distribution and everything. I got so fed up with it that I clipped something like 12 ASAS (do people still call it that? I'm so v0.18) into the fuselage and that seemed to fix the problem! Vernors are amazing though, and I pretty much use them on every VTOL or stubborn craft. They work wonders! Lovely SR-71 though, so much better than my crappy old one that could barely lift its nose above the horizon!
  13. @Colonel Cbplayer that thing is freakin' awesome!! I begs for a craft download? I should post my Harrier II Jump Jet here. It can roll on the spot and can pull in and out of hover at the click of a button. Very fun to fly!
  14. I like it! I'm literally the worst at building cars, so anything looks like a masterpiece to me. This car goes beyond that though. Very stylish.
  15. I walked around school nervously, wandering what the year 12's had done to us on muck-up day... EDIT: Ooh, right. KSP. Nothing yet, waiting till tomorrow. Homework's a killer.
  16. I have a Vampire replica for 1.1. I've successfully landed it on a carrier that I downloaded (both crafts are stock), but does that count? Anyhow, I NEED to try this challenge!
  17. I have an extremely manoeuvrable plane (based off the Harrier Jump Jet). Does this challenge permit Infernal Robotics? It is a parts pack, but I wasn't sure if it was what you had in mind. If it's fine with you, I'd happily enter you challenge. I'm sure my Harrier has much room for improvement (Although, it can fly with half an engine, no left wing, tail or nosecone...)
  18. So. I was playing some Elite: Dangerous recently and realised how much I would like to have the freedom to fly some of the ships in Kerbal Space Program. Since I'm pretty much the worst at creating nice-looking crafts, I've decided to run a little competition that will test the building abilities of this amazing community. The rules are simple. Create a craft that looks like a ship featured in Elite: Dangerous! The craft should be able to fly; extra points for VTOL, well positioned RCS, etc. Part clipping is allowed (I wouldn't know what to do without it!) Some mods are allowed (Check mod list), although if you feel like another one should be permitted, please tell me! I will rate ships off design, efficiency, practicality, usability and consistency with the Elite: Dangerous ship the craft is based off. There will be a leaderboard with the top 3 designs for both stock and modded crafts, as well as honourable mentions. Infinite fuel IS allowed, but you will likely be rated higher if you don't. Elite: Dangerous Ship Examples: Adder Anaconda Asp Explorer Asp Scout Cobra MkIII Cobra MkIV Diamondback Explorer Diamondback Scout Eagle Federal Assault Ship Federal Corvette Federal Dropship Federal Gunship Fer-de-Lance Hauler Imperial Clipper Imperial Courier Imperial Cutter Imperial Eagle Keelback Orca Python Sidewinder MkI Type-6 Transporter Type-7 Transporter Type-9 Heavy Viper MkIII Viper MkIV Vulture (Credit to Elite: Dangerous Wiki) Mod List: B9 Aerospace Infernal Robotics KIS/KAS BD Armoury F.A.R. (It will probably make it harder!) **Hyper edit, Vessel mover are allowed for TESTING ONLY, or for beauty shots** LEADERBOARD: Stock: 1. 2. 3. Honourable Mentions: Modded: 1. 2. 3. Honourable Mentions: Give me suggestions about how to improve this challenge; your help will be much appreciated! Good Luck Guys!
  19. Oops! Wrong person! I forgot to quote @cbplayer2012! But wow! I need to download that!
  20. Thanks so much! I totally agree with you, F-22's are so cool! About half a year ago, (through much trial and error) I made a Raptor that looks really similar to yours and works wonders, and I beat your part count by two. Unfortunetly, due to the maze that is my desktop, I lost and probably deleted it... I'm dying to try your version; it probably outdoes my old one by a mile. I'm slightly obsessive about making realistic warplanes, and I really, really, REALLY want you to make an F-35 Lightning II. As a challenge, you could try making the B model with VTOL, or use infernal robotics to make the C model with folding wing tips! Anyway, just a suggestion
