Here is my take on it. http://imgur.com/a/NVE6J I have a few questions. - When you say East do you mean East? because the Eastern Continent is closer by about 135°. I did fly East (090°) and then landed at the Peninsula (Looks like Florida) due to night coming. And I never had actually tried landing before. The take-off was heavy and slow. Wasn't too sure how it would handle. Well it turns out. So I flew from Texas to Florida on my first trial flight. I have the fuel to make the Continent on the same heading but will have to restart in the middle of the night to make landfall during the day. - Is the ship good enough? I have a newer version with an enclosed cockpit but don't like it as much.

Driving like mad men Kerbals. Close to 2/3 of the way. I think I am facing a strike. Both Vallina and Nedbur are not smiling any more. They grumble about not having any fun. They throw empty snack packaging at the camera when they notice I am looking. I will have to let them play a bit....I guess...Soon anyway.

That's so......Kerbal. Awesome. With 3 Stars on it. Whistles and bells.

Just a quick update. The Vanea headed straight to the sea. A little steep but nothing a vehicle with 22 wheel brake and thrust reverser cant handle. Half the fuel was burned bypassing the mountains. The ship jumped over one last one and is now on the continent. Long wavy steppes here. Lighter ship flater terrain. The going goes fast. They are now past halfway. I took a picture looking West at sundown then one looking East from the KSC. Wow. You know it's true but seeing it is amazing. So they are doing well again. Imgur mixed the pictures....As usual. http://imgur.com/a/RWGoV

Hello Fellow Kerbalist. My two nut-job are now firmly on the Eastern continent. There is a long peninsula on it's east shore (I call it the Tail-end).. They chose to cut through the ocean and are on the mainland. http://imgur.com/a/QvDkx Almost half a world away. An ocean crossing means a fuel drop. So the stork left. Daytime this time as we are ½ a globe away. The drop went well. Flying West to East this time. Not the best choice fuel wise as they are closer the other way. Sorry no sound again. I thought I was using the recorder badly but it turned out to be flawed and I changed it. EDIT: I am adding a music track right now. Might take a while. The good bit is at 1:55. Fromin and Kergard flew to low for too long and couldn't make it back to the center. No Kerbald were armed in this landing. They are now being debriefed at home. Vallina and Nedbur have restarted their trek. The terrain is very hilly, steep with sharp changes in pitch. You can see it well at the end of the vid. The ship is full fuel and therefore heavy. I busted 10 (Out of 12) tires on the back side. It took me the better part of the afternoon to fix the tires. The wheels kept blowing as one wheel cannot take the weight. That is why there are so many wheels to start with. The last previous save was before the refuelling mission. Not keen to redo that. Eventually using the jet engines I was able to drag the ship onto a ridge and inflate the tires one by one in order of lesser stress to higher stress. Disabling the brakes on the broken wheels help to remove some stress when they are blown back up. So....I now have to idle the fuel away (Takes time). Go very slowly (Takes time) to avoid blowing too many wheels at one time. Fix them ALL as I go (Takes time). Make it to water and burn fuel going to a nicer part of the continent (That takes time too). My refuelling is dependent of doing it in water (Buoyancy). There are no large body of water for a long while. I do use the engines all the time to help climb those pesky inclinations. So. I have to use one or all of those strategies. Maybe rethink how I fuel my craft (Over land and not too full). This is work. I feel like I actually drive the miles. I might take a break. My interest have drifted to Boats, VTOL and STOL.

Thank you. Too kind. -The dish serve no real purposes. Horror Vacui mostly. The craft used to want to fly (Flip over) over land and drag over water. So I added a control surface in the front. Downward force on land upward on water. The dish is coupled with it, through group-action, as a visual reminder of which way it's pushing. -The plane is high drag (And very Kerbal) I think the game consider the separations in front and back of the drop tank to be flat walls. The early version had more and more engines. This one looks quite nice I think. Hard to rotate and land though with the lower 2 engines. I tried clipping them all in and that was good visually and operationally but the craft had a tendency to....suddenly explode. -I started with even more but got bored. I thought (Now) that every 40km or so was good enough. To show that I am really driving the distance. Show progress, steadfastness. Plus it's a reason to do an F5 and not re-drive the last 40 clicks (Or more) after a RUD. The coming drive makes me think of Asia. It will be long and hard me think. With nothing to see (And report) but km after km. I might do F5s and skip a few flags. Maybe plant them when Nedbur comes out to fix tires. Or something like that.

Well there was a night flight to deliver fuel to Vallina and Nedbur. Success. The good part is at 1:15. The flight was conducted by 2 scientist. All my pilots are on Duna. They went on the MCT. The Many Colonist Transporter. They did well. They used Mechjeb. First time for all of us. But managed to destroy all the engines clean off the aircraft. They walked away. Nedbur supervised the fuelling by having fun. Have you ever realized that there is water in their helmet? http://imgur.com/a/A7bC0 BTW Nedbur wasn't very happy for a short while. Vallina and him made a bet on the fuel delivery. He lost half is snacks. But the fuel was more than just fuel. So everyone is happy again.

Mine is currently orbiting Duna. Until I get back into getting him back (Does this phrase actually work?). He flew 101 colonist to Duna on the MCT (Many Colonist Transporter). They are all down. I just need to get him back....Sometime....Soon. I am sure of that. Next time Duna and Kerbin Line-up.

Hey all. Vallina and Nedbur Just finished crossing the Western continent. They are now sitting on the first In-Between Island. Nearly out of fuel. Nedbur is nervous because he knows the roster and who will be making the drop. But Vallina is super confident. They are now 1/3 of a globe away. Nedbur can't wait for them to be past halfway. He has been rationing his snacks and Vallina has eaten more than half of hers. Good thing they have separate cockpits. The last of the continent is kinda OK. But the last little bit is full of craters that are hard on wheels. Had to do more than one F9..... http://imgur.com/a/00K73#2egEdJT

The Vanea (Vallina And Nedbur Excellent Adventure) runs on solar some RTGs and jets. To run at night (Even when the sun is low) I would have to run the engines all the time and I don't have that luxury. Plus those little guys have to sleep sometime. I made a video of the ship:

Just an update on Vallina and Nedbur's excellent adventure. They have completed the crossing of the great desert. Had a good time in the ruins of the temple. Usually Nedbur (Engineer) is the one that want to play. But it was Vallina (Scientist) who wanted to explore. As soon as he was done fixing one more wheel he wanted to leave. Just as an aside: Having jet engines with Thrust Reversers on a car is a good add-on in mountainous areas. Been working on a replacement for the Stork. My fuel drop plane. Too short ranged. The Seven Leagues Stork as been tested and it can fly all the way around Kerbin....I think....Hope....We'll see when they reach the Western edge of the Western Continent and need fuel. They are currently over a quarter of the globe away. The Amphibious train is doing well. Lost a wheel and the side-guards. Will do a quick 180 over 50 m/s if the terrain or the driver makes too quick a turn. Finally Imgur mixed the pictures. And I will post them as soon as I remember how. I give up. Pretty sure there was an "i" button up there. Now there is a "Page" button in it's place. http://imgur.com/a/oXCWQ#ApvAC9c

The sea crossing is utter boring. I only rode on the Mun, Minmus and Duna and I admit that a really wide rover would be good. I made an tested the fuel delivery aircraft. This is the early prototype: Most people would have used drop tanks....But noooooooo. It had to be different. That is soooo Kerbal. It fly like a badly tuned brick. But got them more fuel. It touched 1.1 km away. So now all is well...I just need to make it fly even further now....For next time. I mean, how can it work you can see the sunshine through it:

Sure. I didn't take pictures initially.....As I was playing. I wanted to do this: With the Kerbals on the outside. My early design didn't work too well. Unstable, flipped over when applying jet power. I started making it wider. Longer. It was a mess of girders dragging and not floating right. So I made it wide added wings for flotation and lift. An elevator in the front for picking the nose up while in water....But not while going fast on land (Fly and crash). This is the first iteration that made it to the old airfield: I found that Kerbals are attracted to tires and explode in a greasy puff. You have to admit that "That's got to hurt". Tires kept busting.and fuel wasn't good enough. I couldn't go back to the mainland. There was a propellant feed issue above 76% or so too (Only on one engine....Frustrating). This is the new one with bigger tanks: The Sea-Trials went well. Rode the sea well. Was fast enough with 4000 units of fuel. Still had tire issues. But the Kerbals had a blast at the old airfield: So I upgraded to a double row of tires to support the weight (Three words: 24 Wheels Drive). Especially on slope changes where tires busted the most Still has tire issues. But I can manage now that I am on my way (Also Nedbur got an upgrade to class 3 Engineer) (Rumour at the Astronaut Complex is that "Someone" hacked his flight log and added a Bop Landing ) . Part of the problem is the Kerbal-Protection-fender clips the rear and front wheels when the suspension max out. I call it "Le Canot". It's kind of a joke as I speak French and "Le" is the equivalent of "El" and "Canot" means "Canoe" and the pronunciation is very much the same as "Cano". So to me "The Canoe". To you "Le Cano". Jokes (Especially the not funny ones) aren't so funny when explained . I am tempted to make a Mission Report but Imgur hates me. Or is it the other way around? So there. I now know that the Sea-Speed Isn't good enough now. Doing 9.5 m/s. But I was going to do Air drops anyway. So I will do more and cross at the narrower points. They are flags. I plant one every time I stop to fix tires and F5 the game.

Hi all. You guys are a tough act to follow. I was working on being number one and by the time I am ready to post I am 3rd... I think. Anyway. Stock 1.1.3. I have MechJeb but did not use it. Running for Manned-Recovered. Before loading Vallina: 2.705t 14 parts. Achieved 70,065m by 73,445m. EDIT: I can't load the album. I have to work on that....Be right back. EDIT Again: imgur hates me. the first few images are messed up but the rest is fine. I assure you.

SSTOs! Post your pictures here~
Martian Emigrant replied to KissSh0t's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
hi all. This is my first SSTO. EDIT: Version 1.1.2 Stock Built and flown a few weeks ago. I was quite pleased with the aesthetics of it. At first I couldn't imagine why you would want one. But they are cool it turns out. So here it is. The early canard version followed by the better one. It goes up well enough. Coming down is touch and go. Flies badly. Just refuse to change heading. I have worked a few more versions. They fly better. Just refuse to scale up. Work in progress. QUESTION: How do you get the compact image display thing-a-ma-bob? -
Hi all. I just tried it. I run 1.1.2 and it is doable. I had a kerbal stranded without a ship between 75 and 83 km. First try I retro-braked and let him heat-up before braking. He had a temperature strip. He blew up before I ran out of fuel. Second time I rounded the orbit close to 71 km. then retro-braked just enough to re-enter below 70 km. Someone mentioned half a unit of fuel and 40 m/s and since burning fuel too late wasn't working I spent fuel till I had .49 unit left. Budy got hot. He got a temperature strip but then slowed right down before reaching too-late. His speed kept dropping all the way down but was still fast below 5 km. At 1000m I spent the fuel "Up" as he was upright at that point. I have a print where at 14m he his still doing 44m/s. He splashed-down and lived.

Cant run KSP
Martian Emigrant replied to Martian Emigrant's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Ok. Update. Game is now running fine. I have to unlock a bunch of parts but that's another story. After nuking the settings one last time with: I started the game. It appeared on screen 2. Using right click on the top border (Or alt-F3). Selected More Actions-Special Window Settings Selected Size-Force and my screen 1 resolution 1920,1080 Also selected Minimum size-Force-1920,1080 Then for good measure. Alt-F3-More Actions-No Border. Now when I start the game it appears windowed too large in screen 2. I follow with Alt-F3-Move To Screen-Screen1. No more crashing, unusable windows and tiny monitor (1024×768) Thank you, thank you, to everyone. -
Cant run KSP
Martian Emigrant replied to Martian Emigrant's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Yes, It did confuse me initially. I confuse easily. Right now I gave up trying to get the game to run on my main (Read big) Screen. Every time I try moving the window to the other screen and resize it the game goes weird. I end up (Immediately or on the next boot) with the window being microscopic (Invisible) in the top-left corner of the screen I don't want or a really strange size. Such as half an inch wide the whole height of the monitor or 2 inch high the whole width of the monitor. In one instance I got the window so wide it was halfway in the other monitor. And about 2 inch high. The only solution I have left is to exchange the monitors. But I like them that way. Might try swapping their connections one is connected through VGA the other through DVI There is a wall on my right and my current arrangement is great for working, film and playing. Ho well. Thanks guys. I know this is a big endeavour. Bugs are expected. -
Cant run KSP
Martian Emigrant replied to Martian Emigrant's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Thanks a lot. I completely nuked "Unity". I only have one game installed. Now 1.1.2 will run. Yeah. My saves are incompatible. Boo. Looks like I can't save my two Klowns I sent to orbit the sun....Good thing they are only sprites or something like that. Still load on my secondary monitor. Boo again. Plus round object, like say Kerbal, are oval. I will work on that. So.....Still confused here....Unity is the engine that run the game. Part interaction. etc.....And it isn't installed with the game....So who installed it on my machine? -
Hi. Sorry. New guy here. I can't make this work and I can't find an answer. I looked. I really did. I downloaded version 1.1.2. (Linux) and thing were fine or seemed to be. Then I played with the screen size. I have two screen. The program would open on my second screen for one thing. I tried adjusting one more time then the screen became very wide and thin. Unusable to readjust any parameter. Tried re-extracting 1.1.2 and got the same result. Deleted everything and downloaded fresh. Now the secondary screen flashes and nothing happens (I presume the game loads and crashes). Same thing with 1.0.5..... I don't get it. Does the game save a persistent file somewhere with game parameters? I need my fix. Build and fly something. Who will help those two Klowns I sent to orbit the sun in the Sunlab?

Keyboard Issue
Martian Emigrant replied to Martian Emigrant's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Hi it's me again the Newbie. Stilhaven't a solution but............... I noticed this time that the damn box appears when I use the L-Shift. For now I have reprogramed the "Throttle up" button to the "Ù" button. The "What" button you say? I use a "Canadian multilingual keyboard". That shouldn't matter.....Really. And there is a "Ù" button between the "L-Shift" and the "Z". The programming does seem to assume that US keyboards are used exclusively as when I selected the "Ù" button the settup told me that it is the "Backslash". So Still an issue but solved for now. Thanks, DP
