Kerbal Express Airlines - Regional Jet Challenge (Reboot)
qzgy replied to Mjp1050's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Fact check, my smaller supersonic aircraft does 1450 m/s. Ha. All in friendly jest, of course. Neat plane though. Much cheaper than mine. -
Wait a sec... Do kerbals even go through a form of menopause? Or some phase where the can't make baby kerbals? (hopefully not violating any forum rules here.....)
-
You don't. Compile it into a giant Star wars style live stream scrolling banner.
-
I decided yeah, screw it. Giant 804 person carrying plane, here we go.

Deploy Elevons Further
qzgy replied to SpaceTrashCan's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you really want to have elevons the deploy quite a bit, you can also muck around in the craft file. The elevons have an authority setting which in game is limited to 150, but can be much higher within the craft file if.you choose to do so- 8 replies

1) Does it though? I've heard that DMP itself is quite buggy, and prone to acting up 2) It's the wait till everyone can go on rails thing, right? But what if I have a warp to 3 years time and you have a warp to 4 years time? And what happens in I revert my flight? 3) A private LAN server is great. But what if I want to connect with (random person here) who lives in oh I don't know, 2000 km away? How will my game affect his and his game affect mine, especially when there is an element of lag? 4) I can see your point. But what's the difference between this and save game sharing? Still allows you to use a station your friend put into orbit. Also, I make and launch giant ships. What if the guy I'm playing with is on a potato system? He won't enjoy my 1600 part behemoth loading up.

Yes, only mods wield that power. Only for very important stuff or TOTM stuff, as mentioned above.

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
qzgy replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
Hey, that's cool. Possible to explain how? Or too personal (if it is, understandable)? -
Over the last two days really, but super sonic Scream machines for passengers. Practical? No. Melty? One is. Fun? Yeah! Spoiler for Courtesy Edit: BTW, if anyone is interested in these crafts, they are publicly available on KerbalX

Kerbal Express Airlines - Regional Jet Challenge (Reboot)
qzgy replied to Mjp1050's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Back again with another stupid Supersonic Scream Machine. Kramer SSTP-2000 Starmachine Cost: 180,909,000 Dimensions (L/W/H): 39.3m / 22.8m / 6.6m Weight: 148.88 Tonnes Range: 1+ kerbin circumnavigations (calculated rage of 8373 km) Capacity: 284 Kerbals Cruising Altitude: Between 17500 and 18000 m Cruising Speed: 1350 to 1400 m/s Purchase Link: https://kerbalx.com/qzgy/SSTP-2000-Starmachine Marketing and Finances decided for this aircraft not to name it after some dead dude and instead after an awesome song they heard on the YouTubes. It is the bigger brother of the 'Benirschke', another screaming fast SSTP utilizing the same engines, only more of them, and again located in easily accessible pods. Both of these factors reduce training fo maintenance and pilots, as it is effectively a bigger 'Benirschke'. This time however, the engines are over the wing. It's thought to maybe reduce noise levels from the engine, deflecting it up instead of down towards the ground. It probably wouldn't matter though as it cruises at 1400m/s at 17800 to 18000m altitude, similar to its smaller brother. All 284 passengers (yes, capable of hauling Jumbo Jet Plus categories of people) and 3 pilots are housed in the thermos flask High-tech heat retardant fuselage to prevent over heating, reducing flight training and apparently, heart attacks. This has the unfortunate effect of killing all window space. Not to worry, as the windows are now replaced with UHD TV's! Which can display the outside world or favorite films such as Wonder Kerbette, Kapollo 13, and Kavengers. The fuselage also utilizes quantum-kerbal storage technology. This unfortunately places some of the kerbals in this pseudo-prototype at a bit of an angle. However, Engineering is sure that this could be fixed by sitting on the floor, or rotating the cabins. Fuel is stored in the large wings to help with packing, as well as in the engine nacelles, not under the passengers. That would be unsafe. Carrying 12,560 kallons of fuel, it is plenty for a Kerbin circumnavigation, which it completes in roughly the same amount of time as its smaller slightly faster brother. Other safety features include a reduced take off speed (closer to 60 m/s instead of 80) and drogue chutes, as well as speed brakes, and effective ditching on water. Can also self disassemble. Not covered by warranty, and Customer service will say [Redacted] if you complain about this. Or mail you some krap in the mail. I'm not sure. Instructions for use: (You may need to timewarp quickly to get minor issues figured out.. 1.3 doesn't like fairings...)Toggle flaps with AG1. Gun it and nose up, careful not to hit the ground. Point in direction of intended travel and climb to cruising altitude at 25 to 35 degrees. At cruising altitude, level off and activate any autopilot if necessary. Highly recommended BTW. Also probably a good idea to not use autopilot for directional changes. For landing, drogue chutes are included as well as speed brakes, activated by AG2. Useful for landing. Try to get onto the ground before 40 m/s. -
Time for precision demolition a-la Whack-a-Kerbal? (or more boringly, Object thrower blech such a boring name)

Kerbal Express Airlines - Regional Jet Challenge (Reboot)
qzgy replied to Mjp1050's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Entering with a Supersonic plane Kramer SSTP-34 Benirschke https://imgur.com/a/cTw7x Cost: 121,922,000 Seats: 64 Seats, plus 2 crew Cruising altitude: 17500 m Cruising Speed: 1400+ m/s (Or, enough not to melt the cockpit) Range: 1 Kerbin circumference (Or more!) Download/Order link: https://kerbalx.com/qzgy/SSTP-34-Benirschke The Benirschke, named after some German guy one of our engineers found and chosen cause it has 4 consonants in a row. It is capable of 1400+ m/s cruising speeds, easily enough for mere kerbals to witness reentry heating and so far the maximum speed so far. I don't think many are going faster. Cockpits start to melt. And yes, dear test pilot, mild over heating of parts is normal. It can whisk 64 kerbals across the world in record times (as of writing, I'm halfway through a circumnavigation and 23 minutes through a flight, and about halfway to 3/5ths of the way through my fuel), good for time pressed buisnesskerbs and other kerbals looking for a thrill seeking flight. Landing is made easier by the inclusion of a drogue chute, which was lobbied heavily by the families of the slightly dead test pilots. They'll come back. The 6 powerful engines are mounted in pods, to help the maintenance crews access them after a long flight. Also, it has plenty of fuel for a full equatorial circumnavigation, which it can complete in less than 1 hour. The only downside is the cost, which is quite steep. And fuel consumption to some degree. While quite efficient at cruising, sipping a mere 1.3 liters per second, it chugs fuel on takeoff. Oh and take off speed. Which may be illegal..... (it is very close to 80 m/s) Instructions for use. Gun it at takeoff. Pitch up to 45 degrees. Level out at 17500 m and set the autopilot to stay level. (or just trim till level). Keep gunning it. Increase altitude as seen fit, but it can cruise at 17500m (lower during the night). For landing, there is a drogue chute. Probably useful. -
There's a story behind this, Not sure if I wanna know what it is.

Having tested it in game... it is possible. Unlikely, but possible.

Just tested it. Huh. Yup. Somethings broken with it. Even tried uploading the URL to imgur, and it couldn't recognize the link.
-
I don't know jack about websites either, but I have noticed some imgur albums have disappeared. Which is annoying sometimes. It could be that the gif is non-existent. Can you still provide the link to the gif? (to prove that it does exist)

Okay.... Well, I haven't read it yet (as of writing this.) Given that, I expect self immolation (Post reading) Well. Damn. That was .... a bit darker than normal. But good. No offense, I for some reason am a little apathetic (ok, a bit saddend) to the loss of two characters in 2 chapters. Maybe I don't have enough context. Also, following off of @MiffedStarfish, I think a 20 to 30 m/s fall is okay, maybe even 40 m/s. Doing the math (w/ online calculators), it seems that impact is at 47.5 m/s. Might live, but probably dead.

Holy crap. Do you have a link to the mission report for the first one? I'm curious to see how it went. -
9/10 Neat poem. Detrimental to health, but neat.

Elon musk's new future rocket, designed as a scaled down version of ITS. -
This makes the assumption that a) the future exists and b) that a space based industry will appear by then, then being whenever the cygnus water craft don't burn up from orbital decay.

Ohhh. I live in the US, so I guess its a reverse seasonal thing (This I guess was spring break, which usually for me is in March/April). Hopefully you can play KSP again. Its only kinda addictive.
