  1. I don't exactly remember, but It was probably a probe to Eve. As far as Kerbaled landings go, I did a mission to Duna. I think they are still orbiting Duna back in my old save somewhere... As far as returning Kerbals, It was either Gilly or Duna. I don't remember which came first.
  2. Thanks, to you all! It was fun to make, and I'm thinking of doing another music video sometime, I'm just not sure which song I would do.
  3. The rocket must take off vertically, from the Launchpad, and look more like a rocket than a spaceplane. This is where common sense comes into play, it is pretty easy to land and refuel an SSTO spaceplane. This challenge is about re-using a rocket. Yes, you can use rapiers, and I don't see why you couldn't use control surfaces. Just try and keep it rocket-like.
  4. This is a challenge all about creating a re-usable rocket. A lot of people already build re-usable rockets, then recover them. Here's the catch for this challenge: You must actually re-use any rockets you launch. This means no using that "recover" button, and it means no one use parts, like fairings of decouplers. Rules: 1: All crafts must be completely stock. No mods, except for informational and visual mods. 2: No Cheating! This means no cheat toolbar, no mods that are considered cheating (Hyperedit) and no editing the save file. 3: In order to count as a valid submission, you must launch a rocket to a location beyond Kerbin's atmosphere and safely land all parts of the rocket (except for the payload, if there was one). Then, you must re-assemble the pieces of that same rocket, re-fuel that rocket, and fly that rocket back to whatever location you flew it to earlier, and return all pieces to Kerbin again. 4: You may use any number of vehicles to transport the rocket back to the launch site, re-assemble it, and refuel it. These crafts do not need to be re-usable. 5: No using the recover button, except for support craft. 6: No spaceplanes! This is a rocket challenge. I define a spaceplane as something that takes off horizontally, and uses lift from wings in a major manner to fly. 7: Provide screenshots, or a video. I'll probably think of more later, but here is the scoring system: 1: There will be separate leaderboards for different destinations (eg: Suborbital, Orbit, Mun, etc) 2: You start with a base score of 1. 3: You earn more multipliers and additions to your score by doing impressive things. Scores are added, then multiplied by the cumulative multiplier. List of Impressive things: +1 point for any additional re-usable parts of the rocket. +0.5x multiplier for additional times you fly the rocket to its destination. +1x multiplier for not using parachutes. Go SpaceX! +1.5x multiplier for re-launching within 10km of the KSC I might add more later. Leaderboards: Suborbital: 1. @Ultimate Steve 5 points with the Grasshopper IB, a tail-landing rocket. 2. 3. Orbital: 1. @Jhawk1099 3.5 points with a RAPIER powered rocket SSTO! 2. 3. Mun Landing 1. @gchristopher 9 points with a rocket SSTO carrier and a lander! 2. 3. More coming when people reach more destinations!
  5. How to defeat Thompberry: 1: Dock him to Emiko Station and then update to the latest pre-release 2: Bring Kerbfleet bill into your universe and have him delete the stayputnik mk1 part from the game 3: Ram the Duna Station with the Raptor! Although, unless the benefits of the framerate increase are too significant, you might want to play in 1.0.5 until the actual 1.1 release. Just sayin. Can't wait to see how Thompberry is defeated, and how many times he is brought back to life again! (Currently: He has come back from the "dead" once)
  6. Houston, we are now in orbit of planet bedroom. Awesome! I hope the hololens lives up to its expectations, and then, I can fly a rocket through my house and crash it into a TV You should make a video of it crashing into a jenga tower, or something. It would be more challenging, and you'd have to knock it over manually, but that would look awesome.
  7. I forget where, but somewhere in the settings file there is a value for the maximum contracts that can exist at a time. I agree that 15 is a bit low, but I don't know how to change that value or where it is in the file.
  8. You're welcome *goes off to VAB and starts to build a giant rocket made of clustered mammoths, while grinning like a happy idiot* That quote will live on forever! EDIT: Do you mind it I quote you in my signature?
  9. Yeah, just my rover actually never got anywhere on the mun. It just wouldn't move faster that 7 m/s. Although, I do know the feeling of progress (and of zooming down a hill at 40+m/s). I had both when I was doing my laythe rover. It was really hard to control moving down that huge dune, but I'm really glad I only had to drive that one 30km. Best of luck to you, finishing this!
  10. This must have taken a lot of persistence. I tried driving around Kerbin once. Made it about 70km before I got bored and used it as a missile target. I'm not completely sure, but I think that ten in binary is 1010, not 101. Great job, though! Every rover I send to the Mun just slips and slides and never gains any traction. Can't wait for 1.1.
  11. I do have an upper stage on the rocket. However, the first stage rocket will fail before I have used up my first stage fuel. Because of that, I shortened the first stage so I wouldn't waste fuel. However, that means I have a tremendous TWR, and I can't throttle down with the engine, and burn up in the atmosphere on ascent due to heating. However, I read up on how TestFlight works, and if I understand correctly I have to use that engine more for it to gain reliability. Do you know of a way to turn TestFlight's failures off?
  12. So, a while back, I was looking at a bunch of parodies of "The Final Countdown" and I looked to see if anyone had made a KSP version. There weren't any (that I could find) so I decided to try my hand at making one. I made the first part of it about a month ago, and I made the rest over the course of three days. i finished it a few days ago. I hope you like it! Link: Here
  13. Hello, about a week or two ago I decided to try out the realistic career mode mods, and I ran into a bit of a problem. I have unlocked an engine (I think the RD-103) which is the first big engine you get, and I've been having a problem with it. The engine is not throttleable, so I have to put a huge fuel tank in front of it to keep the rocket from going too fast in the lower atmosphere. However, eventually the engine fails, and leaves me with 3/4 of my fuel unused. This is getting really annoying. I would like to remove the mod that is causing the failures, but I do not know which one it is. I installed RSS RP-0 and RO via CKAN, and did not include many other mods besides the required ones for those big mods. I would appreciate any help with this.
  14. In my opinion, DMP's syncing system was probably one of the best possible solutions, and I hope SQUAD does something similar. However, with multiplayer, there would be the problem of griefers/trollers. My suggestion for that is that someone can only sync to you if you let them, and that you could create a "private" space station or base if you didn't want anyone else to use it. I am looking forward to multiplayer, though, and I hope that SQUAD can come up with a good solution.
  15. Yes. Whack-a-kerbal. Provided your mouse has a middle mouse button. (My first mouse didn't have that - or even a scroll wheel.) It isn't likely that, now, eight hours later you haven't somehow stopped the rolling, but for future reference, alt+f12 opens the debug/cheat menu, from which you can access Whack-a-kerbal.
  16. I think that it may be a type of mint ice cream, with the plains and the hills representing different variations of the flavor. However, the ice cream is super-chilled to the point where it is rock hard and will need to be thawed before eating. This would also explain why you can't dent the surface while crashing into it. This particular variety of mint ice cream is edible in raw form, but also can be purified into inedible rocket fuel, explaining why you can mine it and use it for fuel. If Minmus actually is mint ice cream, then if life support is added, Minmus should provide plenty of food, but maybe Kerbals who ate a lot of it would walk slower, or something.
  17. A bit late... but I have a theory. What if the cabal somehow survived, but were sent back in time to Kuzzter's universe and became the Kerbulans? Pretty unlikely, but who knows? Loved those crayon panels.
  18. Thanks for the spellcheck tip! I do want to go to Vall at some point, but my lander was out of fuel on my first mission. I did, however, station my mothership around Vall during that mission, and it is still there (I used the more efficient transfer ship to get home). Maybe I'll use it in the future. I'll probably have to start a mission report on that mission.
  19. Hello, everyone, I am Ultimate Steve. I am definitely not new to KSP in any way, I joined back in 0.19. KSP is probably the best game I have ever bought, and I have no Idea why I didn't join the forums earlier. Just wanted to introduce myself. I have been to most of the bodies in the game in one form or another, except for moho (can't seem to get an encounter) Eeloo (Never bothered) and Vall (not enough fuel left on my J5 mothership). I have done crewed landings on Kerbin's moons, Duna and Ike, all of Jool's moons (except Vall) and Gilly. I am also really excited for 1.1 (but I don't have steam... must wait). Did I manage to break the record by lurking for 3 years? By the way, if there is a way to add the KSP planet names to the forum's spellchecker dictionary, I suggest that you do that. It's only my first post and It's already annoying me.
