Hmm, that puts things into perspective... My grandfather worked for NASA for half of the time it has been in existence!

3/10 Which KSC??? Both are awesome but you need to be specific!

Small nitpick, there is a space between the Ultimate and the Steve. -

I believe they are volume limited, not mass limited. F9 and FH have the same fairing. -
How have you seen people change over your time here?
Ultimate Steve replied to Kerbalstar's topic in Kerbal Network
I remember back when @sal_vager was someone you'd see incredibly often, and who would always throw you off when he switched avatars. I closely followed Kuzzter's comics early on... It was good at the beginning and now it's amazing. I hope he finishes them someday. Also, the naval battle club also used to do stuff, and back then every single shot wasn't a guaranteed 1 hit kill. I think I've been here under many different community managers... I remember back when it was PD TV. I remember the original KSP weekly... I lurked hear a while before I made an account. I played the game for just under three years before I came here, actually, so I've "been" on the forum since 2013. The rocket builders was a thing. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Also @Geschosskopf appears to have gone missing. I enjoyed the circus. And universally in almost all of the writers I have noticed a trend. They all tend to get better over time. -
Last visited an hour ago, should be here. @Galileo, sorry to bother you, but your attention is requested! There might be a chance he blocked you for some reason, and that's why you are getting the error, but I doubt it.

The group settled on a three stage design, two solid stages and a HTP/Kerosene lower stage. Thanks to rapid development made possible by the investment of a billionaire, they had test firings by the end of the week, and made an orbital launch attempt two days ago at a base in Eastern Nebraska. The payload was a tiny transmitter with enough battery to transmit "Never Gonna Give You Up" from orbit for a few hours. The launch was a complete success, the transmitter entered orbit a bit higher than planned, actually. But then the FBI showed up and arrested them both for rocketry experiments and copyright violations. The evidence of the launch has been wiped, and the engineers are undergoing interrogations. Their forum accounts are maintained by professional imitators. A second launch was scheduled to take place in a few hours but I doubt it will happen.

Ya... It would be nice, since they already have a texture switch implemented, if they would keep the old textures as an extra option, although unfortunately it would greatly impact loading time. Maybe as an official mod... Or maybe KHI will be updated with the old versions.

[KSP 1.12.2] Physics Range Extender v1.21.0 (04 Sep 2021)
Ultimate Steve replied to jrodriguez's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Hi, love the mod and thanks for your work on it. I'm having a problem, although it's probably working as intended. When I load a save the mod will focus on each vessel for a second or two to load it, but in some scenarios I have a dozen active craft and who knows how much debris... I will have to let it run for a minute or two to load. Is there any way around this? -

Twitches to the Mun ... Sepratrons to the surface
Ultimate Steve replied to Geonovast's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Hmm... I don't want to dig out the pictures, but I did make a small mun base with just SRBs once, and I even started a mostly SRB grand tour (minimal vernors for docking) that I never finished due to time. I got to Eve and Gilly before putting it on hold until I could find the patience to launch and dock at least 10 giant SRB segments so I could "refuel" the mothership and take it to Moho. So I'm saying is that the sepratron landing is not as hard as you think it will be, the real challenge is to make it small enough as to not melt your computer! EDIT: Thought I was commenting on a challenge thread and was giving advice, so post is weirdly worded for a mission report response. Great job on the mission! -
I think the reason it is traditionally measured in seconds is because it was a universal unit, the mass units used in the equation didn't matter as long as they were the same because they cancelled out. This made it easier for the Germans to work with the Americans on rocketry projects, and it stuck. What else would it be measured in? Not in a provoking way, I'm legitimately curious.

I have a huge problem
Ultimate Steve replied to Playy's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Looks like a corrupted save, unfortunately. If you go to your KSP directory (ksp-win-64 or something like that) and go into saves, then go into your save (sandbox) there should be a lot of .sfs files for various quicksaves. There will also be a persistent.sfs, which is the corrupt file. If the file size is less than the most recent quicksave, it probably got cut off while it was being saved and is corrupted. Also in that save file should be a folder called "Backup" if I remember correctly. First off, take the corrupt persistent.sfs file and move it somewhere (in case it's still good) and take the most recent .sfs file from Backup and copy it to your save file. Rename it to persistent.sfs if it isn't called that already. If you boot up the game again it *should* load. But I haven't had to do this for quite some time, so I may be wrong about the file structure. I'd recommend a confirmation from someone else before attempting this. -
Never heard of this before. Probably should experiment when I get home!

Use for engineers
Ultimate Steve replied to IanCanberra's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Recently I refueled a transfer stage and attached a spare antenna and a solar panel to it, and launched it to Moho from Minmus. It almost made Moho orbit but unfortunately fell short. I wonder what other spare stuff I have lying around... -
We have a chat? Kidding aside I think I looked once and left after a few minutes.

I think he's talking about the part upgrade system... Part upgrades can be seen in R&D and behave almost exactly like a part, requiring configs, models, and icons that are not used except in R&D. The complaint is that unnecessary system resources are used loading and rendering these phantom parts. But I could be way off, I'm not a modder.

The DearMoon plans show no refueling launches (although I still think they are better off with at least 1) so currently, BFR is theoretically capable of going past the moon with 0 payload. I think this will change. The cargo version of BFR will be significantly more capable due to the lack of a pressurized crew compartment with all the systems necessary, so if the lack of refueling on the moon mission is true, I'd imagine it can take a few tons to GTO, but probably nothing to GEO. -
The only thing I can't figure out about KSP
Ultimate Steve replied to JezzaFromTheDirtySouth's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Same though. No jobs for teens around here besides fast food, considering working at Hardees but I'm too busy to drop an application there.
