@DaElite101 its not modeled like a shock cone, its modeled like an aerospike. Basically the spike bit is the inverse of a bell, its designed to work well in atmosphere. The drawback being its lack of gimballing, due to the complexity required to get 2 degrees of motion out of that design, you'd have to turn the entire engine instead of just the bell

@Martian Emigrant Nothing, I just haven't updated the boards because I'm a lazy person, I look at ~3 pages of submissions and go "balls" then procrastinate till someone in the real world yells at me to pick up their dry-cleaning. @EliteGuy3 I just need to confirm, do you have an intake clipped somewhere inside your manned/recoverable craft?

Can we swap it to just oxidizer now? i have no idea what "For all parts affected by IFS Stock Script, replaced Structural by Oxidizer" means and it has the word oxidizer in it On an unrelated but related note, is it possible to remove the option to add HydroOx and the other one? it kills me to have a fuel which is literally useless to me in my stock-only-mostly ness keep up the necessary work! This mod is vital to my space program- 1,187 replies

This is a simple build I use for my Apollo-Like missions, because the top of the Capsule has that ring, it makes putting a docking port directly on top of it look kinda broken. So this is what i do to get around it: (taken from my post about it in the open source construction techniques thread) Thoughts?

Here is how I construct my Apollo-a-like command capsule: (Imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/ZFhwT) The basic componetns, a .65 to 1.25m structural adapter, and a docking port are the main components, attached to a capsule of course smush 'em down nice 'n flush this is how i do my Launch escape system and shroud Its just more historically accurate and sleeker. Its done in 2 segments, the first extending downward and out, parallel to the capsule, and then cuts in and finishes connected to the Heat-Shielding, decoupler, Or even the capsule if done correctly. It may result in less than pretty edges, this is easily resolved with offsetting the entire fairing upwards a smidge. -
