1. (1) Getting Started. Supported systems. Kerbal Space Program is made using the Unity3D game engine, which supports Ubuntu Linux 12.04 and up, and 14.04.3 LTS is recommended, both 32bit and 64bit is supported. Ubuntu is based on Debian, so nearly any Debian based Linux will work for KSP. Other versions of Linux will also run KSP as long as they can install any missing dependencies, you can check that KSP has what it needs by using these lines in a terminal. For 32bit use: And for 64bit use: Click here to learn more about the Linux terminal. KSP should work "out of the box" on Ubuntu, and the rest of this guide will assume the player is using Ubuntu unless stated otherwise.

Minimum System Specs are: * 2Ghz Single Core CPU or higher * 2GB RAM * 512MB Video Card, Shader Model 2.0 * 2GB Free HDD space Recommended System Specs are: * 3.0Ghz Dual Core CPU or higher * 4GB RAM * 1GB Video Card, Shader Model 3.0 * 2GB Free SSD space

KSP is not supported on virtual machines, but see linuxgurugamers post if you want to try. Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac users should dual-boot with Linux, instead of trying to play in a virtual machine. Getting KSP for Linux. KSP for Linux is currently available DRM free from:

The Squad store (recommended)

GoG.com

Steam

The Humble Store (Steam key)

Green Man Gaming (Steam key)

Amazon.com (Not recommended)

Buying KSP will add the game or the Steam key to your account with that vendor, see each vendors Support pages for help with downloading and redeeming Steam keys. Installation. Depending on where you bought KSP, it will either be a GoG installer, an archive file , or it will be in your Steam library. The GoG installer: * Make the installer executable by right clicking it, clicking "Properties", then "Permissions", click the box marking the file as a program, then click "Ok". * If you would like to try changing the permissions with the terminal see here. * Double click the file to being installing. * KSP will be installed to "/home/user/GOG Games/Kerbal Space Program" by default and a shortcut added to your applications menu. The archive: * Right click the archive and open it with archive manger, click "extract" to extract the contents to the current folder. Steam: * Double click KSP in your Steam client to begin installing. * KSP for Linux on Steam is installed to the normal Steam games folder on your system, see the Steam section for more info. Starting KSP. * For the installer version, click the KSP shortcut in your application menu. * For Steam, double click on KSP in your Steam client. * If you installed KSP from the archive, open the Kerbal Space Program folder and double click on Launcher.x86 or KSP.x86, if you are using a 64bit version of Linux you can run 64bit KSP by double clicking the Launcher.x86_64 or KSP.x86_64 KSP.x86 will start KSP directly, and Launcher.x86 will open an application that will allow you to edit setting, open KSP sites in your browser, and start KSP. Issues. "Launcher.x86_64 and KSP.x86_64 won't start, I have 'Open with' instead." These two files are not 'executable' by default, so they need to be made executable in the same way as described for the installer, above. "Launcher.x86 and KSP.x86 won't work on Ubuntu 64bit." These need some 32bit libraries which are not installed by default on Ubuntu 64bit, so open a terminal (see above) and copy in this line, then press enter: "KSP.x86 in the terminal doesn't work" or "I started KSP from the terminal and things aren't right in the game." The terminal needs to be set to the folder that KSP is in, KSP looks in the folder it was started in for configuration files, so if your terminal was in ~/home KSP will not work correctly. You need to either open a terminal in the Kerbal Space Program folder, or use the cd command to Change Directory. "Steam starts the 32bit version of KSP and I'm on 64bit" See the section on Linux KSP on Steam. "I'm trying to install KSP on Fedora..." Fedora can be a bit tricky, so linuxgurugamer has made a how-to for getting KSP to run on Fedora 21 and up, complete with installing the Ckan community addon manager and display drivers. You can also try installing KSP using voidi's installation script, but it's pretty old, just click here! (Direct link to script) Back to top
2. True... The user below me has a whistle
3. Maybe these will interest you guys? How to make small liquid fuel rocket engines. SRB's!
4. Hmm, the revert feature is essentially a time control, it takes you back in time to the launch or the editor, it's not something you could pay for any more than the timewarp feature. And if you can get all the way to a Mun landing without loading or leaving and returning to your game, you probably don't need this anyway. And if you can't, then there's no revert, they don't carry over when you save and load
5. The demo doesn't have the ability to use addons, the most you can do is completely swap out a part for another one, but even then it's not designed to work so probably won't.
6. Hi DerpyHoovesX, it's probably best to not go scraping assets out of files, and definitely not to go decompiling anything, there's Squad EULA to consider
7. There has to be some reason this is happening MeCripp, if I remember right you only use module manager and there were null reverences in your logs, also have you tried windowed mode at your full resolution? That may be how you have to get around this until we figure it out.
8. Yeah it's a pain in the butt to be honest, I can add the license to the forum page if there is one but there just isnt, so it's all rights reserved but Squad needs it in the zip as well in case the forum is lost.
9. Yeah, sorry guys, you'll have to spam K3|Chris's inbox, er I mean ask him politely to update it, all it needs is a license in the download and on the forum page.
10. Hmm, it is in addon releases though, I'll try unlocking it. Edit: Unlocked but I can't post to it :/ Edit2: It is missing licence information so has been made inaccessible, please see the licensing rules.
11. The link works for me odmonk but it's a closed thread.
12. Hi Fun1k, try deleting the settings.cfg file in the KSP folder, then starting KSP with the LC+ALL=C command MeCripp, the green image? Yeah that's not right at all, KSP doesn't do that but it almost looks like a steriogram image.
13. Sorry guys but I've decided that this thread is better off closed for a couple of reasons. First, any purpose to the thread has been derailed due to off-site issues, please keep any trouble on other sites and don't bring them here, thank you. Second, the thread is breaking down due to personal attacks and allegations. Third, the game and its precursor appear to be just spreadsheet number games, this is not a problem but what is a problem are the roleplay elements that these games generate in their respective forums, they have a nasty tendency to become aggressive when people forget it's a game and take it too seriously, it's just numbers on a server. This last issue is most important because we've had such issues before, so there is a ban on roleplay: So to prevent past issues concerning these games, this thread will be closed and if recreated the new threads will be closed as well.
14. KSP should still take screenshots but yeah, the Steam overlay will also take screenshots and I think it puts them in a Steam folder. Have you uploaded your screenshots anywhere MeCripp? It may help us to see what you are seeing. It's possible that it's a GFX card/driver issue and we might be able to find out why. twistedLucidity, I haven't tried that with KSP yet, but this may help, it's for scaling Wine games but omit Wine and you get an X server which you access via VNC, this should overcome the mouse issues (crosses fingers)
15. Honor points? Oh yeah, Reputation, if you post something that others like they can let you know by giving you Rep, check your My Profile page, Reputation tab You can give them to others by clicking the sheriffs star below a post.
16. Hi guys, just dropping by to remind you that a lot of what you're discussing here has already been covered in the 0.25 discussion thread, and that most of the stuff here is on the WNTS list. Also I'm moving this to Dev suggestions, have fun
17. Yeah we try to keep all the 0.25 stuff together, limited room on the front page and all that, or we'd be swimming in he things
18. Last time someone tried to do it they did it with structural beams, vertically on the pad I think. Bits far away just were not attached, but were, it was strange, plus really laggy (lots of parts).
19. Not possible with a single craft, sorry, the game does not calculate physics beyond 2.5km from you. But, you can make a ring of individual satellites, they don't even need to be close together to look like a ring on the map screen
20. MeCripp, have you managed to resolve this yet? If not then 0.25 is coming and that may fix a few things.
21. Can you be clearer about what you want to do? If you want to run Windows 8.1 you'll need a virtual machine, if you just want to run a Windows program you could try Wine for Mac.
22. I do love how inventive people can be with these posts, they rarely fail to make me smile Closed thread, start a new one and link back if you really need to talk about this Iansoreta.
