  1. The mini lab and goo canister are one use only unless cleaned out at a mobile lab, and that needs to me manned by two Kerbals to work. The other sensors are multi-use though.
  2. And if you have RCS you can use that, we're assuming you have a gimballed engine, if you only have the LV-T30 you are in trouble :/ Actually, if you have the LV-T30 or the 45, it'll recharge you!
  3. Right, here's mine, 41,062 ground meters, 41,277 total. http://pastebin.com/RBxCkvU1
  4. (Looks you in the eyes and takes a swig of whiskey) You kids think you see the Kraken everywhere, but all you see is shadows, and you jump, you run screaming, you never knew the Krakens power, and for that you should be glad. (Drinks more whiskey) You never saw deep space when the Kraken was real, it twisted space itself to get you, no one ever saw it mind, but we all knew its face, us old pilots, we all knew the touch of fear when the universe came alive in bloodlust. (Leans back) First came the shaking, you knew then you were doomed, nothing you did would hold your ship straight, you'd wrestle with your controls while reality laughed in your face, and while you tried to keep your nose on course your back end would be trying to come away, trying to move through space along an entirely different trajectory or so it seemed. (Pours another drink, downs it, shudders) Cept it wasn't on another course, everything was trying to fly straight, but there's no such thing when the Kraken has you, it was a force of nature so powerful, so terrible, even the matter of our rockets trembled in fear, and space, space changed, time changed, everything around us just started to break. It'd get you round the Sun as well, anywhere too far from home like we were never meant to travel, to explore, we were doomed, cursed to stay in low orbit forever. (Drinks) It's dead now, had to fight time itself to end the Krakens hold on us, but maybe, just maybe, if you go out into the dark far enough, you might find it again. We were never meant to go so far, this system is our home, for better or worse, something out there doesn't want us to go exploring..... It'll kill us if we try.....
  5. And this thread is done, criticism is fine until it turns into this, people just picking each other apart over any little thing. See you in the next criticism thread, maybe that one will stay civil and on topic. Closing!
  6. Just tested this to be sure, and if you leave a pod to re-enter when it is not the focussed vessel it is deleted and the crew is lost. So make sure you are watching the vessel, you can use phys-warp (shift <>) to speed things up, or go make tea, but if you switch to another craft you'll lose your Kerbals.
  7. Alt+tab is not good for fullscreen KSP, it's something to do with how Unity keeps a lock on the graphics adapter, playing in windowed mode if you aren't already bypasses the problem though. Not sure about the keys, see if LC_ALL=C helps, it sets the program to use the posix standard
  8. This thread is just turning into more arguments, if you guys can't discuss things as adults and just write off comments as "opinion" the moderation team will be forced to close this thread.
  9. Kerbals orient themselves to the camera's plain when you thrust with RCS, and by changing between camera modes (Free, Chase and Orbital) you can change the plane the Kerbal uses. It'd be nice if we had more control than this and I don't know why it's restricted in this way as it can be a real pain at times.
  10. Woah that's a lot of fuel, also, I added the Stock tag for you
  11. It's a bug, it was fixed in some places like the flight scene but missed in others like the editor, though it works on the sub assembly buttons. Hopefully it'll get fixed in 0.24
  12. Lost the pics (seems it is possible to install an OS outside of a VM from within the VM :/ ) but the most unnecessarily overcomplex flight I have done was to rescue a pod from the Mun. "Meh just bring the Kerbals home in another ship" you might say... This was pre-EVA, pre-docking, pre-physwarp, 0.17 maybe. I could have just ended the flight, should have just ended the flight, but instead I scooped up the pod with landing legs below the rescue craft like a kind of cage, it worked once out of every four tries. Then I had to get it back, I'd take off, get into a return orbit and release the pod as it'd just pass through my craft at warp anyway, then timewarp closer to Kerbin before trying to catch the pod again in open space after it had drifted away. Quicksaves were many, but they were risky, as if the pod was touching the legs of the cage on reload there'd be a sudden unplanned disassembly. Aerobraking was another challenge, with the pod loose in the cage it'd move around, sometimes break the rescue ship, and always throw off my center of mass making re-entry dangerous. I couldn't just re-enter with both craft either as when the chutes opened the rescued pod would smash through the cage and fall to it's doom, I ended up having to leave it in orbit and design a different craft that would put the pod safely on top as it had no chute of it's own, cue a rendezvous with no nodes to help, just a table of altitudes to work with. All that for one pod...
  13. I'd like science to take time to do, an experiment shouldn't be instant.
  14. I started with just my eyes, but it is recommended in pretty much all the stargazing mags that you try binoculars before spending out on a scope, a 10x50 is a good choice, not overpowered and a readily available size I have a set of 8x60's myself, they are far easier to carry than a scope, even with the camera tripod I use to keep them steady. I wouldn't worry about the plastic, it's the lenses that matter, and even cheap binoculars come with decent glass these days.
  15. It should work up to a point, what you'll find though is the famous three should not return if you lose them, but as all other Kerbals have their names generated randomly you'll still occasionally get a Kerbal back that you had before. It should take longer though
  16. Thanks monkeysee, there's no shortage of people who need tutorials like this
  17. Merry Christmas everyone Christmas is a time for sharing, of company and goodwill, of time and kind words, and in the forums case, of craft files and explosions! CARROTSAREAWSOME invites us all to share a few words and a craft of any kind, so drop by and wish everyone a merry Christmas UpsilonAerospace challenges us to help Santa out with his present run, after he broke a few bones messing with R.A.P.I.E.R engines, better get cracking! GregroxMun's holiday decorations megathread is the place for all your decs, have you lit up the KSC with lights? Have you drawn a Kerbal on a Christmas tree? You should, and we want to see it here. Lastly, there's my own humble Christmas Crafts thread, with rockets, planes and rovers with an Xmassy theme Have fun and a very merry Christmas, fly safe!
  18. It hits the part files a lot, though I don't see why someone couldn't write a program to read a craft file, the parts files and generate a model
  19. Yeah, Lounge it is, it would have been in the Science Labs but the lacklustre way Reicht presented it precludes that
  20. There is an option in the settings.cfg called VAB_ANGLE_SNAP_INCLUDE_VERTICAL. Make sure this is set to false
  21. Lego's okay, but where's my plushy rocket parts with velcro attachment?
  22. You don't lose science, if you can't send all of it you can send more later, though because of diminishing returns it does take some effort to get all of it.
  23. Welcome to the community Atheistic_Logic You can reuse most science parts, just the science Jr and mystery goo need to be cleaned out at a mobile processing lab if you remove or transmit their science. Some science can be transmitted at 100% such as crew reports, saying "it's green" about Jool is not going to change whether it's over the radio or in person back on Kerbin
