  1. I like to put the gear on a little cubic octagonal strut, pretty much fixes the thing.
  2. Oh sorry, @Speeding Mullet, didn't read the rules correctly. Also, the engines on the sats were not fueled for some reason. Since I didn't get the mission correctly, I'll redo it. A geostationary orbit is quite hard to accomplish - it's on equator, so I'll have to land on the runway (poles are perfectly flat, a good place to land.) or use KerbinSide and delete EVE (RAM problems). And I only have a polar space station, so no refueling. I'll try! I don't think I can get more frustrated than with my Sam SSTO (if you wish, find it on kerbalX). To reduce frustration levels, I will do RAPTOR (rocket assisted plane to orbit, a good acronym isn't it?), or X-Planes. Fun thing - the Shuttle actually is a RAPTOR, and those RAPTORs that I do can be submitted here if I use a Mk1 cargo bay from Vens Stock Revamp.
  3. STS-2 (finally) Mods used: Kerbal Engineer Redux - Orbital data, dV stats Craft: Just my STS-1 craft with a different payload. https://kerbalx.com/awfulhumanbeing/Mario-STS-1 Quitting the shuttle program for now, doing spaceplanes.
  4. Is it good in RO?
  5. I was asking for a single mission. For example, here is the plan: You get an interplanetary tug to KO, then dock your shuttle to it, and perform the interplanetary mission. I'm sure this isn't really allowed though.
  6. Hah! I finally got my interplanetary shuttle to glide using the PWings mod. It turned out that @Speeding Mullet is right - even a single Mainsail on it is overkill. A single Vector is really quite nice for the task. (In theory, at least) Right now I am practicing in interplanetary transfers. The shuttle is going to be my third interplanetary mission so far. I have launched seven probes before, but only two (!) of them reached the target - Duna and Laythe. The others... Eve one was missing dV. Moho one burnt in the sun. Dres one collided into the surface because of low orbit. Eeloo one collided (!) into an asteroid (!!) while in Kerbin's SOI (!!!). I think with that happening, I should begin the ARM with a shuttle Right now doing a Buran with a ShadowJet technology. Not gonna tell you yet... Also - do the ARM and interplanetary missions need to be performed in one flight? Thought about putting an interplanetary tug on LKO with a rocket. Or at least with a shuttle.
  7. Hello, A month or so ago I was installing tons of mods because I upgraded my PC. I remember downloading some mod pack and there was some mod that tweaks SRB's to be more realistic. Basically what it does is it makes the SRB's decrease the thrust gradually depending on fuel amount. (maybe altitude or burn time, I'm not sure) What is the mod's name and is it currently available on v1.1? Thanks!
  8. Rest in peace, Billy-Bobbles. His missions: Annie Pinkslip Marta Olympus Huey Sam Mana Link Curiosity G-Force MSL - Munar Scientific Lander Mario-2 - his last flight. His achievements: The first Kerman to leave the atmosphere on a spaceplane. (Huey mission) Lunar Module commander (MSL mission) Von Kerman award for moving field science forward. Experiencing the most G-Forces in history - 216 g. (G-Force mission) Capturing a malfunctioning space probe on high kerbin orbit (Pinkslip mission) First Kerman to land on the South Pole (Olympus mission) Courage: 62% Stupidity: 3%
  9. So yesterday I decided to watch "Alice through the looking glass". I don't even know why, maybe it was the love to the American McGee's video game, maybe to the first book. I did read Alice in Wonderland, but the second one was obscured by everything else, and I don't really love reading, frankly. So what to say about the film - the critics (at least some) say that it's terrible. I say that it's just as terrible as Proton-M - you see it exploding many times, and laugh at the creators, but when it flies at the end, when you leave the theater, you realise - it's not that bad after all. Really the film is not horrific, but I do have some complains. First - I don't know if it was so in the book, but Alice is a ship captain. That seems somewhat strange, I doubt that in the IXX century women were really on ships other than on civilian ferries. The story isn't very surprising too. Alice occasionally locates Wonderland using a mirror, and the old characters are like "oh oh oh the hatmaking guy is feeling very bad go grab a magic sphere and save everyone". And guess what - that's exactly what happens! I can say some good things about it though. The visual effects are not bad and totally are enjoyable. I will not reveal any major spoilers, but the ending gives you a "hope" that there will be no happy end. But yeah, the end is semi-happy. My mark: A rusty mirror out of 10.
  10. Yep, @Speeding Mullet, this is supposed to be a shuttle, even though it isn't for now. I have huge problems with the orbiter, specifically - the wings and engines. For the engines - four Mainsails, clipped so they form something like a rose. These are for OMS, and they are not angled, so I will have to use the Energia clone with 20 Vector engines, and the game will most likely crash. The wings are the biggest problem - Big-S ones are just not enough to glide safely, I don't want to create wing monstrosities like my SSTOs and I am not particularly good at segmented wings, so the entry will be modded. I'm planning to try Procedural Wings. Any good mod for huge boosters? My RAM failed randomly and is now being fixed and I'm stuck with 4 Gb, so don't suggest really tough mods. With this problem, RO doesn't work, so my RO shuttle will wait too. I'm probably going to use Shuttle Lifting Body and Real Scale Boosters. The external tank is going to be provided by Space Shuttle Engines, if it exists in 1.1. If not, Procedural Parts. Right now the next-gen orbiter Olympus is being prepared for its first flight. The test have proven that it's awesome. Gonna give ya some links on it so anyone can grab it. It's using Shuttle Lifting Body and Tantares mods. I'm waiting furiously for KSO on 1.1 if this will ever happen. Good health for ya!
  11. Hi, I am currently messing around in KSP 0.24, and searching for RO for this version. The old thread was completely terminated. Anyone has those versions? Thx
  12. So, my STS-2 is goiing to be delayed, i have a lot of work. Right now i'm trying to pull off a cray-cray interplanetary thingy. Here's an early shot:
  13. Ven's Stock Part Revamp adds somewhat several engines and tons of other stuff, as well as new texturing and models on old ones. Solver engines adds several modified editions of stock engines.
  14. I think there was Rose Kerman somewhere before 2016...
  15. A shame i don't have a XONE to play even more KSP. Wii U is actually the one I care more, because at least I do have a U.
  16. It's possible even to include a Barbie texture (actually, waiting for one), but Enterprise lacks heat shielding and engines, so it doesn't make sense. Technically possible though.
  17. Yes, @Alchemist, Thuds look cool, but they do not provide enough thrust and have lower Isp. Suddenly, I got an idea of clipping 4 Twitch engines through each of Thuds. Thud's thrust equals 120 kN in vac, whereas Dart has 180 vac, but if you add four Twitches with thrust of 16 vac combined with a Thud you will have 184 kN with an average Isp of 293, which is okay. Sorry if I messed up with average Isp stuff, I'm just too lazy to calculate everything scientifically. So the descent in my case looks like this: Before the heat begins, I set the pitch on 25 in the sky, the heat extinguishes, and the craft suddenly is yawing rightwards, and i get in a stall, recover somewhere around 2500 m ASL (s for sea), and splashdown or land. If I set prograde before the moment the craft starts yawing, the sink rate increases so much, and if I turn too hard, I stall again. Guess it has something to do with CoL/CoM situation. Actually, I feel there should be a "Kill rotation" option in the stock game, even though MechJeb still counts as stock. It just holds the prograde so good I wish I could hold a custom spot like that. Also, trying to build a 0.90 shuttle with Scott Manley's manuals. EDIT: btw, why does everyone use drogue chutes instead of normal ones? I never had issues with RUD on the surface with big chutes, and they can support a vertical landing if you stall. The preparations for STS-1 started! Now there's gonna be many MechJeb usage to finally get that Commander Rank! PS. Does MJ landing guidance account for planet rotation and re-entry slowdown and how does it deal with horizontal landing?
  18. Kerbal National Space Agency. A capsule re-entering Kerbin.
  19. Thanks, @Speeding Mullet and @Alchemist! A few last problems: How do people mount OMS right near the tail fin? It provides asymmetric thrust, so the craft just rotates. The aero spike OMS is weird. What engines can provide enough thrust to orbit the orbiter but don't look that stupid? Why is the shielded Clamp-O-Tron such a cheat? Are there any reasons why it never overheats? Its stats on wiki are quite average. Thanks again.
  20. A Stayputnik core, small xenon tank, Oscar-B fuel tank, Ant engine, Dawn electric propulsion system, Commutotron 88-88 and a barometer, gravioli detector and accelerometer.
