  1. I have a design for a 3 part SSTA. Command seat, Oscar B tank, and finally the power house, the spark. With this configuration I will be able to land on moho, return to kerbin, land on eve, return to kerbin, land on duna, return to kerbin, land on dres, return to kerbin, land on jool and its muns and return to kerbin without refueling!* Sounds impressive? well read the fine print, it's much less impressive, that's my issue here, I was impressed by what I thought I saw someone do but the smoke has settled and now am feeling very blase. I will never be able to watch his videos as educational or inspirational again, I will never be in awe of his accomplishments. While this is saddening, it is his loss not any of ours, he should be angry about this loss of wonder and inspiration his videos created but no longer ever will. *part files have been edited to weigh .00000001t and engine isp was modified to 1,000,000. part heating was also disabled. indestructible parts were enabled.
  2. I loveing knew it! I've always been skeptical about his videos.
  3. during my current burnout which is on going, I have been sucked back to the Souls series and doubt I will return to KSP for some time. When Dark souls 1 sucked me in years ago, i played it exclusively for almost 3 years.
  4. For me, KSP is an intense mental challenge to play, Designing, mission planning, thinking of redundancies and redundancies for the redundancies. then flying and creating maneuver nodes to complete my designed mission. Most times i'm up for the mental strain but i get in a funk where i want to play and i keep thinking about the game but i just can't devote the gray matter to it. For instance, right now, i haven't played KSP for 3 or 4 weeks but i've visited the forum everyday. I want to play but i'd just rather do something less mentally exhausting and therefore can't bring myself to firing it up.
  5. sounds about right, I used to play Combat Flight Simulator with an old Top Gun joystick. Despite being WWII series I added all kinds of aircraft. Nothing like flying a B-17 flying fortress inverted though, what a thrill!
  6. chitty chitty bang bang, chitty chitty bang bang, we love you
  7. workaround, set thrust on SRB in VAB and reduce fuel by half. add a second set of SRB's with half fuel and a new thrust setting. when first SRB's run out stage the second ones with new lower thrust to account for the weight reduction from burning the first set of SRB's. Simple, clunky, and nowhere near ideal thrust envelope.
  8. place a chimp around a monolith banging on the ground with a large femur. bom bum bom bum bom bum bumbaaaaaaaaaa
  9. Introducing a non kerbal life form to the KSP universe has broad implications. For now there are only 2 species in the entire universe, Kerbals and the Kraken. A chimp, would imply that no, our courageous green astronauts are not alone, and everything they had previously thought to be true would be wrong. Where does this discovery put them in their place among the stars? either way 10/10 would be stoked to have a chimp.
  10. KSP: Interstellar Give up hope and Start Farmin'! "We used to look up at the sky and wonder about our place in the stars, now we look down and wonder about our place in the dirt." Introducing Blight free corn (for now), sadly okra didn't make it.
  11. Last night I continued my GPP playthrough and streamed the development of my 14 ton SSTO from the science I achieved from biome hopping Ceti. The plane achieved orbit on its first simulated test flight but ran out of EC during re-entry. This caused us to plow head first into the atmosphere and unfortunately the cockpit was not up to snuff and exploded. Fortunately, Jeb was running a simulation in the R&D building on his high tech potato. Changes were made and the first actual mission was to launch a rescue ship to collect 3 stranded Kerbals in low Gael orbit. You can check out the video at https://www.twitch.tv/leafbaron.
  12. Another option that i don't see mentioned would be to launch your probe without fuel. This allow you to make the probe much larger and capable of holding much more fuel and still be able to launch it under the 140 ton 255 part limit. Once the probe core is in orbit simply start launching fuel missions until it is full.
  13. Since it is a single player game there really is no "cheating". There are rules set by the player that, when broken may be considered cheating by the player in question. However, the rules I set for myself and play with constantly ebb and flow, what constitutes cheating one day may be standard procedure the next. Leafy.
  14. Thats how i understood it. double tap would have most likely saved that situation haha. when nothing happened on the first tap you might have realized, nvm i want shift for throttle.
  15. this is the reason why i suggested many moons ago. to have a double tap to stage option in the settings menu.
  16. All we can say is that of the people surveyed the majority thought they were good at ksp (could also be due to illusory superiority or "above-average-effect"). In addition, of the people surveyed the majority like cake.
  17. I'm with @Capt. Hunt on this one, I will stick with a build until if flies or obviously won't.
  18. just remember, correlation does not imply causation.
  19. I think it stems from the fact that by nature, humans are problem solvers and that we like efficiency. Historically, agricultural development happened around the world almost all at once with no communication between civilizations. Which may not sound like a huge accomplishment. However, this allowed humans to have specializations, such as blacksmithing, or tailoring and allowed free time for people to think even more and invent. Imagine what life would look like without being able to go to the grocery and get food. I submit to you that it is no mere coincidence, just human nature, that if given enough time, we will always (more often than not) arrive at the best solution for a problem.
  20. *Mod Idea* salvage bay, which allows the user to recover objects labeled as "debris" from orbit. You grab the debris and select salvage and this in turn removes the craft from space while simultaneously rewarding funds at a greatly reduced salvaged recovery base. The mod could be name Kerbal Trash Program.
  21. @Galileo your screen shots look like what you seen while skipping around with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, they look awesome man!
