I see that the timewarp mod author Linuxgurugamer has not acknowledged that mod as being the root cause of this engine sound issue. He says that he has seen this problem without the mod installed. Still waiting for a definite conclusion I guess.

I don't know about @dudefan, but I am using BetterTimeWarp and also having this problem as described. Is there suspicion that this may be the problem? I'd test myself, but I am not in a position to do so at the moment.

I am having the same problem as described. I'm using the same mods (some updated) as I did with 1.11 and previous versions with no such issue. I haven't quite determined if it is related to time warp, because it seems that is may happen just switching in and out of map view. I can't confirm that though.

I realize GU doesn't yet support Parallax, so please just consider these GU fan art. Here are a couple of images showing Parallax terrain rendering with GU. First one is planet Narath on the left, second is moon Leyn on the right. Also, the terrain has collision, so those rocks and sand furrows etc., on the ground are "real" when you drive over them. Of note, is the detail that Parallax renders even from orbit. On the left, is moon Leyn without Parallax, on the right is Leyn with Parallax. Same location and time. Parallax has plenty of settings for adjusting reflection, color and other factors, so it should be possible to achieve the desired results for GU. Thank you.

Thanks. I haven't been able to find any documentation on using Parallax, so my results have been from playing around with it. I am using KSP 1.11.2 along with the latest versions of Parallax and Parallax_StockTexures. There seems to be two main files that GU needs to add: ParallaxTerrain.cfg and IncreaseSubdivisionCount.cfg. I mainly embarked on this for my personal game and I cannot attest to the technical validity of my efforts in terms of correct application of Parallax optimization. My plan over the next few days, is to include more GU bodies using Parallax. I will be happy to send you the files that I come up with.

Kudos to StarCrusher96 for this mod. Excellent work! Here is the sight I received upon landing on Blalo (using Parallax).

Please fix that it isn't clear what you are asking.

Agreed. I was able to get RSS working fine (for me) in KSP 1.6. However, what is RSS without Earth clouds and pretty water? For that, I had to go back to KSP 1.3. There is no current way around it. I do miss some of the game improvements that have been made since KSP 1.3 and various mod improvements that have been made and which are not backward compatible with 1.3. At the end of the day (for now), if you want to play with Real Solar System at its best, run it in KSP 1.3x with RSSVE (visual enhancements).

[1.12.x] Horizontal Landing Aid Redux
Observe replied to linuxgurugamer's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Bingo! That appears to have done the trick. Thank you for this and all the other mods you support. I'll be using this quite a bit over time and will let you know if I encounter any oddities. Thanks. -
[1.12.x] Horizontal Landing Aid Redux
Observe replied to linuxgurugamer's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@StahnAileron Thank you for confirming. I also ran with a test install, stripped down to bare minimum. This mod worked perfectly with KSP 1.3.x, but 1.5.x behaves as you describe. Very erratic and uncontrollable. Currently, I'm using a RCSLandAid.dll from pre-1.5. It "kind of works". Better than current dll, but still not very usable. Thanks. -
[1.12.x] Horizontal Landing Aid Redux
Observe replied to linuxgurugamer's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Horizontal Landing Aid Redux doesn't work for KSP 1.5.x. I've installed latest versions of this mod, but when engaged (Blue or Red), the craft just wanders around erratically. I am familiar with operation, because I've been using this mod extensively with KSP 1.3.x. I have functioning RCS etc on my craft/s. Thought I'd mention. Thanks. -
I apologize if I offended. Yes, I saw the thread title. I asked, because sometimes mods still work, in spite of game version change. Anyway, I regret posting and will think twice before doing so in future.
-
@TykoExcuse me? I still don't get your point. Here was my question: "Does anyone know if latest RSS works with KSP 1.5 or do we need to wait for RSS update?". Do you see anything there about asking for an update or pestering anyone in any way? I merely asked if the existing version works with latest KSP. Seems like a legitimate forum question for a humble player such as myself, who isn't an expert such as you.
-
What? Since when does a polite, no pressure question constitute bugging? Your response make me feel like I never want to "risk" asking a question, for fear of the kind of response you display.
