  1. Keep practicing. Docking is easy once you figured it out. The mods "RCS Build aid" and "Docking Port Alignment Indicator" are very helpful tools here.
  2. Granted .... wait what? Earth now oscillates in a strange triangular pattern and life isn't possible anymore. I wich I could manipulate the laws of physics,
  3. For Interplanetary Missions, I usually send whole stations. I first build the entire spacecraft in the VAB, launch it in parts to assemble it in LKO. Modules: - Station core: Lab, crew space and life support - Lander(s): small reusable lander for small bodies, disposables lander(s) for large bodies. For Duna and Ike, you can go with reusable Landers. Build them as light as possible and use parachutes for the duna descent. - Return Vehicle to bring your crew back home. - Mining rig (optional): You have to decide if you want to pack a mining rig or simply more fuel. - Drive section: the heaviest part of your spacecraft. It must make the transfer and insertion burn. Because it's so heavy, I usually launch it partly empty and refuel it in LKO. Crew: 1 Pilot 2 Scientists 1 Engineer (only if I do mining)
  4. What's the point of debris anyways? It doesn't affect the rest of the game in any way, whether it is deleted or piles up in orbit doesn't make a difference.
  5. No, that wouldn't solve the scoring problem. Ludicrous numbers of Kerbals give you a multiplier that makes even the smallest distance covered achieve an insane score. You can still build a large plane with a Mammoth engine that's just so able to take off, but I don't think that's an intended goal of this challenge.
  6. The little engineer in my head says this plane will break apart when it releases a big weight during flight. I dunno, I feel like it will bend like hell when it drops the weight, but they shure thought about that. On the other hand: If they're KSP players, they didn't think about that, they'll try it out.
  7. If your engines have a decent gimbal range and you don't turn too aggressive low in the atmosphere, you should get away without any fins on this rocket.
  8. Sounds like the prope core is upside down? This would explain the strange flipping behavior (inverted controls) and that it's gone when the vessel is crewed (now it's controlled from the crew-pod). Edit: I just saw that the center of lift (blue marker) is over your center of mass (yellow marker). Your rocket is aerodynamically unstable. Put the fins further down or remove them completely.
  9. Wow. How do you make it fly straight? My planes always nose down on their own without continuous control input.
  10. My most used mod has always been RCS Build Aid. It's also the first mod I ever installed.
  11. Someone tries to revive old thread? Reply!
  12. Jaeger gets shot by another Jaeger by accident.
  13. I totally get you. I have a similar mission in preparation, it's going to explore the whole Jool system from a mothership in Vall orbit. Here's a Tipp: Installing Hyperedit and testing parts in a "simulation" is totally fine, it's actually highly recommended. Do this to check if your landers work and your EC consumption is ok. Make plans what to test and if a test was succesful, go with it (don't try to improve too much, that will only cost you a lot of time)
  14. I can't stop Want some Industrial Metal? Ok, didn't like it? How about
  15. Welcome to the forums! Please have a quick look around in the forums (guidelines, rules, check if your challenge is actually new) before posting. Thank you. The original name of this challenge is and it's still active.
  16. Actually, Jeb and Bill worked out a plan to hook Val and Bob up. They sent them both on a Jool 5 Mission. Unfortunately, Bob didn't get any hints and did nothing but science all the time. After that, Val didn't have a crush on Bob anymore.
  17. "A black hole is like a hand guillotine in the game of Rock Paper Scissors." - Me on this thread.
  18. you have the HG-5 high gain antenna, put that on a probe core and you have a Communication Satellite! What makes you think you haven't got the tech to make a Network?
  19. Unfortunately, we're not able to measure dynamic pressure. You should be able to move faster the higher up you are in the atmosphere. My suggestion: Divide your velocity by the ambient pressure in bar, so when the pressure bisects, you can move at twice the velocity.
  20. Do you know what happens when you get close to that one? I just watched 2001 a space Odyssey. There should be a mod for that, and this creepy choir sounds when you get close to any other monolith.
