I actually haven't used anything other than Nano. I rather like it. I really wish more Linux tutorials online would emphasize that there are different options. I can't tell you how many times I've seen the first step to a tutorial that had nothing to do with a text editor (other than using one) as "sudo apt-get install vim" or similar.

Nerp. @Gargamel?

Satelite contract doesn't work

Any chance you were going the wrong direction? Very common on those to go the wrong way. -
Pointy end goes up. Press Z for maximum fun!

Today I did my first test run of a full IVA Apollo style trip top the Mun. Actually went better than I'd expected. I got Through The Eyes Of A Kerbal, so even when I had to go EVA, It was still 1st person. RPM of course, which I'd never tried before this and now I don't think I could live without. Had to quicksave a few times, as once I fired the wrong engines and didn't realize why my orbit wasn't changing until something exploded. One of my cats was being annoying during the actual lunar landing, so I ended up braking too late and slammed into the surface. Had to do an emergency correction on my return orbit just before re-entry because I forgot how to transfer Val out of the MK1 Lander Can, and needed a normal orbit to figure myself out again. Luckily I had plenty of extra fuel. While it's awesome that you can go EVA while IVA by clicking on the hatch, it's really super annoying that you can't do so when your Kerbal can't see the hatch. So even though the MK1 Lander Can has a hatch, I have to send one of the other two out to either let her out, or just do a normal transfer... which I can do from outside, but not inside. Also it went to an outside camera view when getting back in, and when switching between vessels. Gotta be a way around these issues. Also be neat if I could set maneuver nodes without going into map view. Anyway, didn't think to grab many screenshots. Probably do a video when I get it down. Oh, and it was done with a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Flight Stick and a numpad. Really only touched the keyboard during the EVA.

Never used myself, but this might be up your alley.

Original Parts As 'Classic Style' DLC
Geonovast replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I really like the old 2.5 decoupler even though I understand most people hate it. It had a handy second use as a service bay. -
Neither of those seem to be able to do it. Crew Manifest kicks you out and specifically says it can't go IVA during a transfer. RPM probably could, but I have no way of making my own thing for it. I was thinking maybe it could work along the lines of...Duplicate focused pilot into target seat. Switch to new duplicate pilot. Delete original pilot. Is that possible?

Thank you! I'll take a look at those. And I'm sorry, I mistyped. I wasn't getting kicked out of IVA on docking. I assumed I would, but I didn't. OP edited Not quite sure where my brain was going when I typed it....

Search is either just not finding anything, or it hasn't been discussed much. Google brought up an oldvideoIs there any mod out there (hopefully lightweight) that will allow crew transfers without leaving IVA? I was pleasantly surprised that docking doesn't kick you out of IVA. It would be so cool if I could transfer crew in IVA for an Apollo style mission. Trying to keep this mission as stock as possible. All I have right now is KER. Also doing in 1.3.1 because I'm on Linux and will be using my Hotas.

I've spent the last two hours setting up my joystick. (After installing 1.3.1 on my basement computer) It would be really sweet to have an option that swaps the yaw and roll axes. Right now I have them configured opposite as secondary inputs in docking mode, and I essentially have to use docking mode all the time for rockets. It's not terrible, the joystick has a small directional pad for translation, which is really spiffy. I'd like to go full joystick for a launch, but still need to use the insert/delete keys (Not mappable!) for getting in and out of docking. Also for some reason this computer is considering the forward / back buttons on the mouse to be joystick inputs.

Welcome! I'm a big fan of GoG, and got my KSP there.

Coming back from a bit of a hiatus, I naturally jumped right into my shuttles, which I'm shocked I remembered how to fly. So I did some station-y things. Then I decided to finally go check out a landing strip that's added by one of the mods. I wanted to take a nuclear electric plane, but I didn't really want to fly there.

totm march 2020 So what song is stuck in your head today?
Geonovast replied to SmileyTRex's topic in The Lounge
I accidentally discovered Paramore a few days ago. So now I have several of their songs stuck in my head most of the time now. Getting that song stuck in my head is like a weekly thing. -

Today I got permission to throw away a bunch of antiquated junk in the warehouse that is just taking up space because we'll either never sell it, or we really wouldn't want to. It was glorious. Full on purge next week! Also my boss told me that if I heard his wife start screaming, I should come save her instead of trying to find out what's going on first. I thought that was odd. -
What's breaking the bank for you? My laptop runs KSP quite nicely and was $600 (i5 7200U @ 2.5 Ghz, 8 GB DDR4, 2GB Nvidia 940MX. But I know a lot of people can't / don't want to spend that much. Your main focus should be clock speed and single thread performance of the CPU. External GPUs are nice to have, but not really necessary. If you're shopping New, it'll probably be difficult to find a real laptop (by real I mean none of that chromebook / cloudbook crap) with less than 8GB of RAM. Also consider getting a cooling pad.

It wouldn't be up to the moderators, they wouldn't have to do a thing. It would be up to the devs if they choose to opt in.
-
@Mark Kerbin I had initially suggested this here. Might be what you're remembering. I think the best way to tag would be to do something that wouldn't ever show up in general conversation. Should be less confusing to our already super confused search system. So instead of tagging planets, you would tag planetsMod, modPlanets or ^planets^, etc etc. Each dev could also get their own tag, to easily search for all mods by one particular author. So if I made a planet pack that included new science, I would tag: modPlanets, modScience, authGeonovast.

totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
Geonovast replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
This was actually a brand new one, released May 28th. I don't have record player either, it's a gift for my brother. My dad used to pick up vinyl by the box at garage sales. I think he had about 8000 records when I moved out. -

Yesterday I purchased a vinyl album for the first time ever in my life. Do all record stores have to smell like incense?
