totm aug 2023 What funny/interesting thing happened in your life today?
Geonovast replied to Ultimate Steve's topic in The Lounge
Today, while driving through rural Missouri, I saw a camel inside a cattle fence. A 2 humped, camel with with a saddle, grazing away. -

Yeah, that's why it's not working. That's not a direct link for the image. What you need to do is right click on the image, select "Copy Image Location", and paste that in. Note the file extension (.png). You can test it here first. If it converts to a picture like below, then KerbalX should be fine with it too. https://i.imgur.com/jUgb81y.png Also note that KSP has its own built-in screenshot system. You can take screenshots by hitting F1. They're automatically saved into the Screenshots folder in your KSP directory. This is much more convenient than hitting PrintScreen as you don't need to save it somewhere before hitting another one. It also won't have the window borders and bar at the top. -
Do you play KSP only or are you into lots of games?
Geonovast replied to Klapaucius's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I play a small variety of games. Used to be a lot more when I was younger and was fairly exclusive to consoles. I wasn't able to afford a decent PC ever in my life until last year, so the appeal of consoles was pretty big. After all, if you had an Xbox 360, and they released a game you wanted... it would play it. You didn't need to know or care about specs. Mostly FPS games. Halo being the big one, L4D, Borderlands (which is probably the only game I've obsessed about more than KSP). I played other ones, but they were mostly hack'n'slash or shooters. Although my computers could run Sim City 2000 and Rollercoaster Tycoon, which I loved and still play occasionally to this day. The original, not the sequels. RCT2 is the first game with some re-textured rides and functionality of the first game removed. RCT3 is unplayable. I don't have a lot of games on my computer. I purchased my current machine mainly for KSP, I played it almost exclusively for about a year, then fell off for a few months. During that time was a bit of L4D2 (steam doesn't have a Linux port of the first one). Then I did a full first playthrough on BL2, now I'm back to KSP. I'm still spending money to fend off that evil yellow clock. AKA "By yourself" -
Universal Storage II [1.3.1 and 1.4.5 - 1.7.0]
Geonovast replied to Paul Kingtiger's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This mod scratches, like, all the itches! I love the first version and am just insanely happy you provided a 1.3.1 version! Just curious, are there plans for solar panels or an air purifier? You guys are doing PHENOMENAL work.- 1,554 replies

You need to install the version of the mod specific to the version of the game. So if you're playing 1.3.1, you need to look for the appropriate older version. Mods for newer versions will almost certainly not work. Strictly part mods may, so they could be worth a try (just don't ask for support if it doesn't). Most mod makers keep older versions available. On github, there's a releases section that usually says what version of the game it's for. On Spacedock, the older versions are kept under the ChangeLog tab. Same applies for Making History. You need the correct Making History version for the version of the game you're playing. (Remember that MH is 1.4.0 +) But yeah, don't upgrade unless you have a specific reason to, like a bug fix you really need or a new feature you want. Even with some of the new parts (Non- MH parts), you might be able to use them. I have the MK 1-3 Command pod (introduced in 1.4) in 1.3.1 and it works fine, using the MK 1-2 IVA. So really, it isn't necessary to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. I know that as recent as the 1.4 release, there were people still playing 1.2.2 for the stability and familiarity.

If you're using imgur, it's quite possible you're using the wrong link. Can you post here exactly what you're pasting into that box? -
You don't need to update. If you have it in steam, simply disable automatic updates. You can also run parallel installs of multiple versions, so you can simply migrate your saves over when you have the newest version tested with your necessary mods. I still mainly play 1.3.1, but I also have 1.4.3 and 1.4.5 installs. If you don't have any saves to pick back up on, I would research the mods you need the most, and go with their common greatest mod supported. MH installs after you install the main game. The game basically treats it like a mod, it just has an installer instead of manually copying files into GameData. AFAIK, you should be able to open saves from an older version and play them normally. Just always, always make a copy beforehand, so if it breaks it (I'm pretty sure it makes changes as soon as it opens it), you don't actually lose anything. I believe he's still around. Last I looked he was keeping his mods updated. So basically... you can update, but just do it apart from your main install and research the mods ahead of time. But you don't have to update. If you're happy with your game, keep it as it is. I'm still in 1.3.1 mainly and likely will be for awhile, even after 1.5 is released. I have MH, but there's nothing in there I need. Welcome! Sort of...

-1/10 It's cold, but nearly no water! And I have mod parachutes, with ejector seats!

I Can't Play The game!
Geonovast replied to Space_Bunny's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Hello, and welcome to the forums! If it makes you feel any better, you're definitely not the first to run into this. There's actually another thread just a few down the list with the same issue. Hopefully something in here will help! -
I was accused of trying once. TUBM owns something 3D printed.

2/10, I don't think Penguins would like space. I was going to like @adsii1970's post, but didn't want to be the one to ruin it.
-
3/10 You really shouldn't spend so much time in front of your computer. Rot your brain, boil your eyes, break your hands etc, etc... Got to watch out for the tunnels full of carpals!
-
Well in that case, I'm against it. I find them annoying, and I believe they would go against the spirit of 2.3b, since people have a tendency to use them in place of words.
-
I'm confused. In the game? Where? Why?

Clouds in stock KSP
Geonovast replied to justspace103's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
It's really not. One of the goals of this game is to be able to be run by people on a wide variety of hardware. As soon as you beef up the graphics to where you're essentially requiring an external GPU, you reduce the amount of new users, and basically give a middle finger to the countless users who can no longer update. It's not that they can't, it's that it wouldn't be smart to. The game isn't about graphics. Space Engine appears to be all about graphics. You might as well complain that Halo doesn't let you construct your own vehicles, because KSP does. They both take place in space, after all. -
A KIS/KAS glitch from accidentally trying to bolt one thing inside another resulted in a mild forceful ejection, in turn causing all 7 kerbals being ejected from their ladders and expelled into space away from the shuttle. The poor pilot could do nothing as he waiting for them all to puff back in - one at a time for some reason - hoping they all had enough MP. Thus making the second manned flight of the RKS Shuttle a mostly-not-failure.
-
Launched a shuttle where two in-payload bay auxiliary fuel tanks were replaced by Mk1 Crew Cabins because I needed a full core of engineers on the flight. Decided to check out the view from inside after opening up the payload bay doors. What.

putting images on kerbalx
Geonovast replied to budgetrocketcompany's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I don't believe KerbalX hosts pictures itself. You need to link it. It's been awhile since I uploaded a craft, but when editing one, if you click on the picture (Craft without your pictures should have a stock placeholder), it will convert to a text box. You can upload your pictures elsewhere (if you're unsure how, click the link in my signature). Then you can put in the tag for the image in the text box. Multiple images should be in their own tags on new lines. eg. [img:http://u.cubeupload.com/Geonovast/screenshot65.png] -
I supersampled my screenshots, and now I might need to dedicate an entire 1TB HDD just to KSP screenshots with how itchy my SS trigger finger is. (I have a mouse button dedicated to it, and I might install Automated Screenshots again)

Can't load the game at all
Geonovast replied to cornik's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Will it load without MH installed? Should help track down the problem. Core game or MH. -
RasterPropMonitor is pretty much essential. Add all the toys recommended for it in its thread, and you should have a good start. Get yourself a joystick too, really adds to the experience.

That's both genius and disheartening at the same time. So the parachute ones are, what, just offset radial chutes clipped in? My whole world is a lie. Thank you.
