  1. Do you have malwarebytes, which has incorrectly listed cubeupload as malware, and refused to whitelist it even after admitting it was false?
  2. My bad. Not 100mb. 38 for "best performance." Wine is perfectly ok with it, unfortunately it's either this or fullscreen. This is preferable. It also runs much faster than it should, so practically unplayable. Remember the good ole times when games were written with the idea that the computer's crappy hardware would keep it at the right speed? I mean, that is how we got the concept of increasing difficulty after all..
  3. Oh god, I remember those days. I was super excited when I brought Sim Copter, probably from a garage sale, and it asked me if I wanted to install it or not, since it would take like 100 freaking megabytes. And when your shared family computer has a 4 GB HDD in it, that's actually a concern. I miss that game. I wonder if I still have it...I got Halo CE PC to run in Wine... Sim Copter would probably work...
  4. Did you try compatibility mode for Vista or XP? It works like 0.2% of the time.
  5. This might be worth a try, if you can crop up the original image and the get the numbers oriented correctly. https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
  6. I'm slowly teaching myself this, but I can't seem to find an answer here. Yesterday I made an engine. My texturing is... slightly improving, but I did manage to get the gimbal working correctly. And I got the shroud working correctly. The problem is that the shroud is showing up as part of the icon in the parts list. It doesn't show up when I place the part, though, until I put something on the bottom node, as usual. (Yes I know I forgot to smooth the shroud). What do I need to do to prevent the shroud from displaying on the parts list? I borrowed the config from the mainsail, so I'm assuming this needs to be done in Unity or Blender.
  7. Thanks @hoioh. I had seen the boolean stuff in tutorials before on doing that, but had also seen that it wasn't a good idea for some reason. Something about it increasing triangle count. They all wanted me to use the knife tool, which isn't precise and I can't seem to operate anyway. Right now I'm using 2.71 since that was the version being used in the tutorial I followed. It's an older tutorial, but seemed the most relevant since there aren't a whole lot of modern ones out there. I did manage to get a version of the Bool Tool add-on that works, and I think I got it doing what I need. So I should be good now. Hopefully.
  8. I wouldn't bother with triage at this point. Move your mods and saves to safe place. Uninstall the game. Re-install the game. See if it fires up stock. If it does, put your mods and saves back. If it doesn't, or it breaks after re-installing the mods, then look into it. Although a health check on your storage drive would certainly be a good idea.
  9. Whoa there. Are you sure you're picking the right suit with the clotheshanger in the VAB/SPH?
  10. I'll preface this by saying that up until very recently, all of my 3D modelling experience has been in Sketchup for the purpose of 3D printing. When you're modelling for printing, you ideally want to remove ALL internal lines/faces, otherwise it can cause undesirable effects when slicing. It's also fairly easy to do in Sketchup. I'm finding it's not so straightforward in Blender, so it's becoming time consuming. It's just been habit, but now I'm wondering if I should bother. So say I've got a box. I want a pipe going into the box at a wonky angle. Can I leave it like this? Or should I clean it up like this, which is what I'm used to doing? What I'm actually working on that made me ask:
  11. Rotary dialing apps actually exist. I bet there's a factory, somewhere, that still manufactures the things. I mean, there's a factory a few miles from me that still makes cassette tapes.
  12. What was the PE and AP of your orbit? Also, at the very top of the tracking station are buttons that let you toggle the viewability of each type of ship. Are they all enabled? Also you may be able to go back in time a bit by loading one of the saves in your Backup folder.
  13. I think it's more that by gluing everything in, people are more inclined to send it to the manufacturer or just up and replaced it than deal with repairing it. Why should you fix your own stuff when you can just toss it in a landfill and buy a new one?
  14. I got a 22" 1600x900 monitor for $3. ...or was it 1680 x 1050? One of those.
  15. I think you mean three fins instead of none. By using the swivel on a rocket like that, the gimbal would be more than enough control. I honestly don't remember what my first rocket looked like. It was probably something similar to @RealKerbal3x's, but in the 2.5m form factor. IIRC, I went straight up.... to escape velocity. Probably. I had no idea map view existed.
  16. Just curious if it's an older Dell. I have a Dell Inspiron 5423 that does that once in awhile. Will just not turn on. I have to open it up, remove the battery, power it up, run it for a few hours, then shut it off and stick the battery back in. The battery isn't worth much, only holds a charge for 20 or so minutes if you're lucky, but I don't want to run the laptop without it at all, since it's still a working buffer for either moving rooms or if the plug gets pulled out. Thankfully that laptop's basically just a music player/browser for the basement, and I only paid $50 for it. But I hear you. It's so freaking annoying that I have to dismantle the thing to get to the battery or HDD. The RAM is still covered by an access panel, though. While my newer Acer does hide the battery, at least the HDD is under a panel. The m.2 slot isn't though.. What makes it all worse is they used to make laptops so damn serviceable.
  17. Same. Cheap and does what I need it to do.
  18. Makes sense, the stream I was watching had an announcer that didn't seem to know much... and he started saying "Now, in about 10 seconds.." just as the abort motors fired. Since he called it a sunset like 4 times I figured the error was his.
  19. Have you tried moving any mods to a safe location, uninstalling the game, deleting the folders themselves, making sure that the sync is still off, then re-installing?
  20. I've not heard of any joysticks not working, based on their model. I guess whichever one you like best. Are you running on Linux by chance?
