RELEASE: Kerbal Star Systems 0.7 (PART 1) (yes, we renamed KSS)

Sorry you had to wait this long, but we think we really did a good job with this release and it was worth the wait.

This is part 1 of the Kerbal Star Systems 0.7 version. Because of the size of this mod and the problems with previous versions we first want to iron out all the bugs and issues before releasing part 2. Part 2 will include the revamped Kerolon System, Kelnis System. Implementation of lore and planetpack compatibility + more...

We also worked for months on a secret project. We think it's ready and we want to share it with you guys: Kerbal Star Systems has now it's own official wiki page. Here you can find everything you need to know about KSS. This wiki is still developing and growing so this is not suppose to be the final product.

    URL: http://kerbal-star-systems.wikia.com/wiki/Kerbal_Star_Systems_Wiki

    - special thx to all the contributors for helping me with this!

Don't really know how to articulate, but great work guys!

Also, when part 2 comes out, will most of the things be bundled into the same download?

    Thanks for the posts!

It would be fairly easy for me to bring back my experienced kerbals to the astronaut complex (before installing KSS .7) , then just spend (lots of) cash & re-build science stations and mining bases (using more high-tech parts).  I will also keep all my deployed craft "parts" position in a spreadsheet in case I can move them to new orbits.   My current carrier is like 1000 (Earth) hours.

At worst case, I have saved planes/rockets with with VERY good designs (both stock and CTT mods) .  So a new career won't be so long and painful.

EDIT: Please don't post many images from the ALL.  It should be a very mysterious place that requires a real crew to enter - even a pilot !

Heh, good point about the ALL. But its secrets will hopefully be revealed soon in 0.7

KSS makes changes to the stock Kerbal system and the system's orbits. Unfortunately, you're not going to be able to "save" your progress.

My suggestion is to note the current positions of all your bases, rovers, stations, and satellites. Use a spreadsheet to note the Ap, Pe, and inclination. Copy your craft files over to a new save and hyper edit everything back into approximately their original positions. Cheat your credits and science points back into existence. You'll probably have to manually rebuild your stations and bases where parts are docked together by flying and docking. Maybe you can build the bulk of your stations in the VAB and hyper edit them into place. It'll be a little time consuming but much faster than starting a new career from scratch.

I, myself plan to start a new career for the 25th time.

Yea, this is probably the best course of action.

    THE CREATOR
    TheCreator.jpg?dl=1
    The last teaser...

      Hide contents

The Creator is one of the most mysterious bodies in the KSS Universe, along with The All. The only thing kerbal scientists are sure is it has been orbiting The All for a very long time and that they somehow must be related to each other.

Not much is known about The Creator. All scientists know is that is was not formed naturally, and thus is made of artificial metals and other materials, some of which may be unknown by kerbals.

The Creator, like The All, is a very mysterious object. Although it obeys the laws of physics, its orbit seems to be stationary, meaning that no force could move it against its will.

Another mystery about The Creator is its age. Unlike The All, which returned measurements of older than the Universe, The Creator's age is within the limits of the Universe, mostly. Its age ranges from between just before the formation of the Universe to just under 2 million years ago. Scientists are unsure why its results are so varied, either because of inaccurate methods, accidental measurement of interstellar debri, or because they can't get close enough to get a decent reading.

The single most mysterious thing about The Creator is why is exists in the first place, and who built it. Most scientists on Kerbin are unable to answer this question fully, but many have agreed that it was built by a precursor civilization, as evidence of one is found all over the nearby systems. They believe that The Creator may have been built to study The All, but they can't be sure.

    THE ALL

    TheAll.jpg?dl=1

      Reveal hidden contents

The All is one of the 2 most mysterious bodies in the game, along with The Creator. Nobody seems to know what it is, whether it's a star, a black hole, or something else. It emits little light and has little interaction with gravity for its size. It is currently the most distant object in the Kerbal Universe. The All is closely tied with Kerbal Mythology, but was long forgotten and branded a myth before being rediscovered, sparking the beginning of KSP.

According to all measurements taken so far, The All has a very weak interaction with the space-time continuum and only faintly influences other objects with its pull of gravity. However, this does not mean The All has little mass, as the object appears to be immune to gravitational acceleration from stellar objects orbiting around it. Thus, The All's inertial mass appears to differ greatly from its gravitational mass, which is a property no other types of matter in the universe have been known to exhibit.

Because The All does not follow any known laws of physics, it is impossible to identify its true mass or density, assuming those terms even apply to such an exotic object. Many of the physical properties of The All have been declared "unquantifiable" by kerbal scientists as a result.

Another fact about this object that baffles kerbal scientists is its apparent age. The most precise dating equipment known to kerbals have placed The All's age at just over 13.82 billion years, which is longer than the accepted age of the universe. Many theories have been proposed on why this is, ranging from reverse time dilation to inaccurate dating methods, but none of them have been proven thus far.

Version 0.3 will be out soon. Just need to sort out a couple ocean scatterer issues, and after that the replacement for Duna, Ares, will grace your game :)

v0.3.5 will be out soon after. It will add Ike's replacement, Stratos - I have a semi working version up, but, well, I'm not entirely happy with it, so I'll refrain from its release for now :P

    Ora

    Ora.png?dl=1

      Hide contents

Ora is the 4th planet in the Kelnis System, and the first in the habitable zone of Kelnis.

Ora's tidally locked nature makes it so that the planet has a single large ocean on one hemisphere and a massive icecap on the other. The hemispheric ocean hosts a large number of archipelagos, making Ora an "island planet". Due to the permanently sunlit nature of Ora's hemispheric ocean and the rarity of dry land, large quantities of warm and moist air constantly rises from the surface. This provides fuel for long lasting megastorms that have raged over Ora's substellar point for long stretches of the planet's history. As of right now, Ora is in a storm phase, which can last for thousands of years.

    Rilna

    Rilna_0.7.png?dl=1

      Hide contents

Rilna is a habitable super-Kerbin that is currently experiencing a global ice age.

Rilna is the equivalent of Kerbin if Kerbin was in an ice age. It has multiple continents connected by large glaciers coming from the massive poles. Because of the mass glacial patterns, almost all the land on Rilna is connected to each other, making land travel to any area possible. However, this is only possible because so much of Rilna's surface water is locked up in glaciers. During warmer periods of Rilna's history, the water level gets high enough to cover most of the land bridges and separate

Due to the cold climate and breathable atmosphere, Rilna is a great place for mass ski resorts.

Wait...is that Stellaris music I hear!? Oh well, I guess the EVE config does look stellar

    Laho

    Laho_0.7.jpg?dl=1

      Hide contents

Laho is the 7th and largest moon orbiting around the gasgiant Voon. It is also the only moon in the Kerbol System (other than Tropical Laythe, if installed) to have a dense atmosphere and stable liquids on the surface.

Laho has always been a target for exploration since it was found to have a dense atmosphere. It's been a challenge to observe the surface, however, due to its dense haze. Because of this, it took a long time before scientists were able to identify lakes of liquid methane on the surface. This only made the excitement around this moon even greater, as scientists are now eager to see if Laho has any methane-based life.

7th!? 7th moon out of 7!? That's a lot of moons! (Not complaining)
